Kitchen extrator fan - neighbour smelling cooking?

That's a shame.
It couldn't go around that corner far enough away from the flue?
If not, the only alternative is to use the hood in recycling mode - it draws in, filters the air, and sends it back into the kitchen.0 -
What I have done to pacify the neighbour I've covered the top of the largest circle part at the top in this picture also where it says 13 on the diagram.
Is this OK do you think and won't cause any serious issues or dangerous?0 -

I presume that would considered an acceptable solution - a GasSafe engineer would need to confirm this, and almost certainly do that part of the work. Then your sparky could proceed with fitting the hood's vent grille.
Alternatively, depending on the outside of the wall, it looks to me as tho' flat-rectangular ducting, which is typically only 50-60mm thick, could run along tight against the ceiling, around the corner, and should clear the boiler flue - it looks as tho' there's enough space there?
It would then continue the required distance past the flue, before then exiting the wall.
On the outside you'd just have a roughly 200x50 vent grill showing.0 -

Do you actually have all these bits shown in the diagram? In particular the concertina pipe 13, and the split duct 13F?
These are used to make the hood 'recirculating'. 13F directs the exhaust out the two side grilles shown - G.
If you just want to stop the smells getting to your neighbour whilst you decide on the best ultimate solution, then just cover that hole in the ceiling with a piece of card and tape. You can then use the hood as it is - fully open. The exhaust will just shoot out the round top, and back into the room - you'll need filters to make a difference.
Once you cover up the hole in the ceiling, the smells to your neighb should stop.
What on earth are you cooking?! :-)0 -
Actually now you mention it, it is missing 13f, which looks like it's supposed to sit on top of the concertina pipe 13 and direct the fumes out the side vents into the room, at present it is just open like in the last picture. Wonder if I can get that part.0

I wouldn't be surprised if many different chimney hoods had a similar design. Try eBay in the first instance, and then Indesit (part of Hotpoint?)
If you hope to externally vent, I personally wouldn't bother spending time on this - simply blast the exhaust upwards out that open pipe!0 -
Now looking at the diagram on the manual and the actual pictures. It is missing part 13, the long tunnel thing that's suppose to go up the fan chimney and missing 13f and 16 and also part 17 is on upside down!!!! It's off at the moment but that's the way it was fitted. Either installed totally incompetently or there was no room at the top between the ceiling and the hood that they have just improvised and came up with that.0

It seems incorrect in a number of ways.
That power socket would appear to be direct in line of the exhaust, and if your cooking was producing steam, then I can't see it doing much good.
And the exhaust would ultimately be exiting via the side vents (ok) and also trapped in the ceiling void (obvs not).
Anyhoo, what do you intend to do as a solution? Recirculate or vent?
Both will employ plastic ducting, the initial part coming out the hood being round. Then it'll either be a case of an item 13F equivalent (obsolete, but a close item on t'Bay for £15), attached to the two side grilles, and with the telescopic chimney inverted so the grilles are at the top, or a round-to-flat elbow in order to vent externally.
Either way, the ceiling needs sealing 100%. The SS chimney will likely need trimming to suit chosen solution.
Or, start afresh with a new hood.

I think I know why they removed part 13, 13f and 16 when fitting it. The wall socket is in the way, so they just didnt install those essential parts and in order to fit it.
and to fit part 17 ie the cover they put a hole in the false kitchen ceiling which then allowed the fumes to travel straight into the space between the false kitchen ceiling and the real kitchen ceiling and traveling to my neighbours bedroom.
the issue I have now is how can I ensure when I buy a new extractor fan that the wall socket will not be in the way and prevent fitting it?
Wish there were companies who deal with these and can come out and look and tell me which will fit etc and then install them.
Thisisweriod can you give me a link to the eBay part 13 and 13f that would fit my extractor fan but wouldn't the wall socket be in the way, unless part 13 is flexible? But would it be ok to have it resting on the wall socket?
Wonder if possible to move the wall socket so it's futher away? Or of theres extractor fans which the wall socket won't be in the way, but as you said probably not.
