So we spent a little cash today just under £8 for McDonald chicken wrap and chips x2 but not too much and then bought coat hooks from b&q, but actually these are wrong so will be going back, bought those sticky ones before but after a year they just fell off, they were the well known ones, so well known I’ve forgotten name 😜
anyway it’s time to screw them in the doors, my hubby thought the doors were hollow only to find they are mdf so the special screw fittings were wrong 😳
so hope he will get the refund this week and get right ones, fed up of hanging everything on towel rail.
i managed to move my 0% Mbna card but for some reason I left £500 on it, I also think the statement will take old minimal payment as I transferred £6000 after statement made up.
therefore I might end up this month with 2 larger than expected credit card payments so less available to overpay mortgage, can only wait and see

using forum to seek help about octopus billing but I think I’m just confusing people, still going to question it with them as a lot of people think it’s to do with exported energy as did I before octopus employee confused me. Hopefully a manager will sort it or at least clarify charges.
i shall see if I can’t figure out charges myself as I have final reading now. So all good, fingers crossed I’ve got a credit coming my way 🤞🤞

so i sent off my email querying Octopus about charging me incorrectly, i wonder how many people never question things.
found the forum really useful for brain storming and i think i eventually gleaned the answer from everone chipping in.
hopefully good news from my friend, she had worked with my daughter on wards before, she’s presently on nurse bank and has recommended my daughter, she’s now got her contact no to pass onto them so hopefully my daughter might be soon employed.
A small financial win today
i changed my 0% card from mbna to Barclaycard and I didn’t realise you got 20 cash back so total is £20 less now.
if I get rebate I will be able to repay saving account and might have a bit more for mortgage.
should have enough for an extra £250 this month anyway.Back to work soon and looking forward to that as I spend less when I’m busy.
anyway let’s see what octopus say in next couple of days

So ended up seeing a friend today and having a coffee and cheese scone so not too bad on spending front, hubby’s birthday tomorrow so made a chocolate cake and daughter will decorate it, was going to buy some stuff from the farm shop we had coffee in but prices were much more than our little egg shed we have, so I took a little detour and stopped there in route home and bought eggs, £1 cheaper and tomatoes, £2 cheaper, their eggs are just incredible so bought a dozen as I had cake to make.
popped into co op for some buttons for decoration.
cake turned out a little flat but I’m sure it will taste good all the same.
Still cheaper I’m sure than buying a cake and home made tastes so much better.
daughter is 23 but she is like a kid, wanting to decorate it 🤣
my lovely friend talked to nurse bank about my daughter and she’s now emailed them at their request so hopefully she will get good news.
my friend will be getting a big bunch flowers for this favour!!

Result!
got rebate from octopus as they had made a mistake with my billing so hopefully I can add that to mortgage or visa, that’s good news for the finances.
today was hubby birthday so credit card took a bit of a hit but with electric rebate I’ve taken the £400 out that I added from savings and when I get it back I’ll pop it in savings and potentially use it to pay any extra visa payments coming out.
we did not buy desert when we had our birthday meal with hubby but came back and had a slice of cake we made with a lovely cup of tea and it was so good, enough left for a couple more days, will ration it 😇
now i need to go to sleep tonight as i have to take daughter to train station for 6am , not looking forward to early morning, can’t believe I used to regularly get up at that time for early hospital shifts

He giveth and he taketh away
i I don’t know what my pay will be this month as my line manager has just emailed me to say my pay will be half pay this month which is not what i expected, thought I had full pay, done some googling to find it’s probably right, line manger is having a look but I unfortunately I may have had a break in service somewhere which really screws with sickness allowance, luckily annual leave is not affected TFFT !
oh well, there is always next month and these are the reasons we have savings pots!
I won’t go back early though as due back next week and that is fine as a close relative is end of life and this weekend may be difficult.
that puts things into perspective too really, it’s only £ you can’t take it with you.
have asked the forum about ssp as if it’s included in sick pay it’s not so good, if it’s on top then I might be able to overpay, im budgeting for in not on top so anything else will be a bonus

So I might leave this diary until 25th as it’s preying on my mind a bit and there is not a lot I can do.
i just have to learn from this, everything is a life lesson I guess.
anyway I’ve applied for a new job and we shall see what that brings??
it won’t be more money initially it will be a lot less but there is more potential to earn more than current job if I apply myself and do additional training

I’m going to withdraw my application from job as if I leave current job I won’t get the £900 bonus in September, it’s a bit of a knee jerk reaction to this half pay thing and I’m a bit wobbly about going back after sick i recognise patterns of behaviour and this is a typical one by me especially when I’m bored.
I need to go back to work now as i actually really like my job and it’s flexible.
i did have a payment coming out for mbna and paid a little more off so now i only owe £60 on that one and the larger sum on Barclaycard.
aim to get that down to £3000 by end of the 0% term then transfer and aim for12 mth to clear
so aiming for mortgage to begin with 6 and Barclaycard to begin with 5

we are really pleased we had them fitted and when we move we will have them fitted again.
we haven’t got batteries because we were told they are not really worth the expense if we were not staying.
Only £2.86 exported so far this month but it’s been exceptionally grey with no sun
Unfortunately octopus is a bit hit and miss recording my export on app and recently they wanted £1200 back for exported energy, think this was 2 or 3 years worth.
it was a mistake on their part so we did not have to give it back as we had produced it.
when I look back last year looked like £380 but it was missing 4 months of reading.
im not sure how much the solar saves me in terms of generating electricity used.
There are probably posts from clever people working that out. When I had agile my electric with solar was £22-40/ mth in summer.
last year wasn’t as sunny as previous years but it was still good.
my house is totally electric
I have 12 panels and i would say it’s probably the best investment we made in this house.
