@Katiehound, yes technically not a cosy subject, but that kind of architecture is inherently suited to the local climatic conditions so it sounds like a good place to start … Also, it makes me think of the kind of rambling, relaxed conversations you end up having with friends around a fire, with a cuppa, after a good meal … Feels cosy to me iyswim 😉😊
Yes it’s officially Blue Monday on the 20th https://www.awarenessdays.com/awareness-days-calendar/blue-monday-2025/

It will not defeat us though, we will beat it 💪
Agreed. We need a specific focus to help us get through next Monday … 🤔

@Wednesday2000 - I believe it was an arbitrary point selected (a bit like five-a-day), no real science behind but strikes a balance between a healthy and achievable goal. It may be the Japanese behind this, one thing they do that hasn't caught on here is corporate responsibility for their employees physical health. They encourage people to stay trim but at the same time have a long-hours culture, which is not so good for mental health!

I think I’m going to have to duck doing the hardest or most lingering task in my life on Monday as my day is already packed - I have a call booked at lunchtime with an ex colleague as she needs some advice on how to navigate H&S requirements now that the organisation she works for has been sold off. My lunchtime will also be a short one as I am leaving work early for a Parish council meeting in the evening!

I think I will focus on sliding and gliding calmly over the top of this mêlée during Monday, and landing on the far side, once I finally get home unruffled and still settled within myself.

I’m in the office tomorrow and have a pretty full on day so that’s quite enough hard tasks for me 😆

Well my Monday is going to be hearing test, dropping electrical recycling and having a quick browse in C*rry* and maybe a quick trip to the tip.  All tasks I could do without. So maybe when I get home I will do something nice like read a book or do some jigsaw puzzle...lol.

I have a form that has needed filling in for about three weeks now. I can't imagine it'll actually take long but it has become the main Thing That Is Being Put Off and if I do it as well as the day's tasks I shall most certainly be rewarding myself with a wintery beer!

Up early Monday - tee shirt I finally sold for a whopping £2 to post, followed by dental checkup. I’ve preemptively booked a longer appointment because I’m aware of a chipped crown. At least I hope that’s all it is. Tidying up in-laws grave and putting a cute little pot of miniature daffodils on it. Finally an 11.30 appointment to have the gel polish soaked off my toenails ahead of chiropodist appointment on Tuesday. Is that enough?

I'm trying not to think about next week and settling into the hygge of a Sunday evening. We're half way through this rotten month already and I can see the chink of light that is February in the middle distance....

I think Sunday evenings have been ingrained into our memories as being bad. The night before we went back to school or work. Then when Sunday working became more of a thing it all changed. Now I am retired it makes no difference really, but I still hate Sunday evenings. Antiques Road Show & Countryfile....lol

I always say Sunday becomes Smonday around 4pm. There is a general gloominess that sets in around that time 😆
