It seems that January is proving to be a very looong, cold and dark month so after the cheeriness of our MSE Advent and 12 days of Christmas thread we thought we would try to bring some cosy fun to the 3 Fridays that remain this month.
Fredagsmys Is a Nordic custom and translates as Friday cosiness. There are plenty of on line articles with more info if you want to read more about it.
in true MSE style we can chose exactly how we make ourselves cosy this Friday using existing resources and our creativity.
some examples I've thought about include
fluffy socks and snuggly jumpers
soup and toast and lots of other comfort foods
watching tv in your jim jams with a warm blanket
hot chocolate!
so, please come along and join in on Friday although we'd love you to share your ideas before Friday to inspire us.
here's to a fun and cosy Fredagsmys Number 1

Sounds wonderful to me. Especially the warm blanket and the hot chocolate. I will need them both as I will be working at a book sale all day. I would be nice to relax afterward.6

If you have one, lighting the woodburning stove early!
My tortoise is in wholehearted agreement with this. She's currently stretched out in front of ours, all legs out, to get warm and cosy.Sealed Pot Challenge no 035.

I've never heard of it, what a catchy name!
It isn't Friday, but I just had a warm bath and now we are about to binge-watch another series of The Morning Show. I have my new heated blanket, but it isn't that chilly here at the moment. I am about to go and get some snacks from downstairs.6 -
@weenancyinAmerica - sounds like a good way to end a busy Friday.
@CapricornLass - we have a tortoise on the thread - that's a fabulous achievement.
@Wednesday2000 - a brilliant Tuesday practice ahead of the main event on Friday.6 -

Thanks for setting up the cosy thread @Blackcats 😊
As discussed on my diary (at great length 😁), I find it unimaginable that people go on diets and give up alcohol in January, it is the absolute hardest month for a human in Britain to live in! So I very much welcome the reminder to regularly put small effort into having something that is wintery and nice.
I will also try to re-embrace our excellent efforts on A Very MSE Advent and make sure to wear a something that doesn't get enjoyed often enough, to lift the spirits8 -
This coming Friday I am getting off to a good start as I have a half day booked off work 😊 Theoretically this is for a dental check up, which I will attend, but I will also treat myself to lunch in town before the check up *and* get home before my usual finish time 😊

I simply can’t get the image of the cosy tortoise out of my mind! I had three as a child and they would have been fast asleep snuggled up in the cold loft right now.
Planning a cosy Friday but not sure what’s on the agenda yet. It will involve two cats for sure.Tilly Tidying andPADing in 2024 £250.62

Our tortoise is from a temperate zone, and doesn't hibernate. So we give her the run of the kitchen, dining room, hall and living room during the winter. When its really cold, she cuddles next to the stove and goes to sleep there. Another favoured site is next to the radiator pipe in the hall. She's not daft!

@redofromstart - glad that you will be joining us. I think there's a lot of tortoise envy on here.
@KajiKita - sounds like you will be getting off to a flying start on Friday once the dentist visit is over and done with
@Sallyforth - cats and cosy are a perfect match. Let us know what you decide to do for yourself .
@CapricornLass - your tortoise is our inspiration!
I've started getting ready for Friday by finding our milk frothing device so we can make super dooper hot chocolate. We are trying to agree on a cosy film for Friday afternoon viewing. I've patiently explained that Lethal Weapon doesn't fit the bill.
