I love the thought of a house tortoise, they’re such sweet things 🥰
I always finish work early on Fridays and go for a potter around the city centre before making my way home. This usually involves picking up the free weekend paper from Waitrose. Then once home I love a long soak in the bath before putting my feet up with a large glass of wine and invariably falling asleep after the first few sips 😆
On the cosy front, I have fairy lights on all year round. In both reception rooms I have a lighted twig tree and lighted garlands around both fireplaces. Plus candles of course 🙂I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7 -
It's a shame we can't have a group emblem pic like on whats*pp, it would have to be @CapricornLass's tortoise!
You big meanie not allowing that notoriously cosy film Lethal Weapon @Blackcats 😁
Mr PIP is in the office on Friday and our family friends aren't leaving until later in the afternoon so I mentioned to Mr PIP about wondering what can we do that's wintery but extra lovely, with limited time and energy, and he said 'cheese and crackers with port for dinner'. He's obviously a natural at Fredagsmysing 😂
We have port in the supplies, we have an unopened box of assorted 'biscuits for cheese' from Christmas, just need to get a couple of random cheeses from aldi which will be from the regular spends and not too costly9 -
Mine will be a lovely roast chicken dinner cooked for my mum while she's visiting us. Then late afternoon when she has gone DH and I will settle down to watch Moonflower mystery with a frothy mocha and a jigsaw puzzle. Candles will be lit around 4.30 as it gets dark.
Can't wait as DH has a few days off work, too.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

I like this idea and have been thinking. We need to register a death on Friday and then come back to work and I go to bed super early at the moment (very cosy that with my lovely blanket, cat and electric under blanket) but special? I think I have decided we should stop at the nice country house hotel and sit by the fire with a coffee. It will be less tha £8 for two, the fire is beautiful, the sofas comfortable and they have nice piano music over the sound system.
It will be the antidote to the funeral planning today and registering the death tomorrow.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!15 -
I'm joing the thread, such a lovely idea. DH still works & doesn't get home till 6.30, even on a Friday, so not a lot of time for doing much. But I will be making a plum, pear & apple crumble, good old comfort food. . Apples curtesy of inlaws tree & have been in the freezer, and plums yellow stickered from supermarket the other day. We will then settle down & watch SC's cruising program, which we love.
Will try & do more cosy things over weekend as well.

So in keeping with the Nordic theme I’ve persuaded DH to take me to our local Swedish furniture emporium in the morning. This is an excuse to buy their rather yummy soused herrings which I’ll enjoy as part of the Friday ritual. I have no other planned purchases but I’ve never worked out how to get to the food bit at the end of the yellow brick road so who knows what may tempt me. Perhaps another stuffed rat for the cats?Tilly Tidying andPADing in 2024 £250.62

RIP Mum & Dad - thanks for helping me on my journey to be
Debt and Mortgage free from 20183 -
@Sun_Addict - as always you are right on track. Imagine if you could get hold of the tv remote between drinking the wine and falling asleep 🥳
PIP that's a great idea for a special Friday night tea. MrPIP has got the hang of this but MrBC less so. Predator, Terminator and The Matrix are not being foisted on me under the guise of a cosy Friday film night!
@cheerfulness4 - a Friday roast chicken dinner sounds brilliant. I really enjoyed the Moonflower Murders, hope you do too.
@Watty1 - I'm sorry that you are going through tough times. I'm pleased that you will drink your coffee in a nice place tomorrow. It sounds like a comforting thing to do.
@Makingabobor2 - yummy crumble. Will make the kitchen smell nice too.
@Sallyforth - a trip to the Swedish emporium is real dedication to Fredagsyms. I'm sure the cat deserves a cosy rat!
My plans include homemade soup and Welsh Rarebit for tea. (As a child I always thought it was a Welsh Rabbit which I never wanted to have to eat)It seems to be dark by about 4.30 so that's when fairy lights will go on and candles will be lit. Crochet and knitting will be done . Film choice is still the subject of debate.7 -
Just a passing comment for cheery coziness tomorrow night …. Monty’s got a new series about British gardens. Well worth having on as cheerful wallpaper even if you are not into gardening as it shows sunshine and bright flowers 😊
