Definitely try going back with a few days each week as holiday - if you get paid 25 days holiday thats a great lump sum, but if you spread those days out 3 a week, maybe Monday Wednesday and Friday so you only have to do 1 day at a time, you'd get full pay for over 8 weeks including your weekends and any bank holidays which of course would be fabulous. (Just double check you are only taking into account the annual leave you'll accrue up to end May not the full yesrs worth).

Plus once you are back you can self certify the odd day if you really can't manage that day

Woken up this morning by dd1 who has stayed away all night with Big Cat. He has rapidly deteriorated and now very clearly needs putting to sleep. 😢 I have sent dd1 back to bed to see if she can get a couple of hours sleep whilst we are waiting for the vets to open and I am sitting with him to just keep him company. He hasn’t eaten for 24hours, barely drunk anything (and anything his has drunk he brings straight back up). He can barely walk, is cold to the touch but just wants to lie on the cold hard floor, cannot get comfortable enough to sleep, and seems to be using his last bit of energy for yowling. It’s absolutely heartbreaking to watch. The vet opens at 10am so I am letting dd1 get some very much needed rest until then and I will call as soon as they are open.

As it stands I probably have enough in the bank to cover the cost of putting him to sleep but that is actually for bills etc, I have very little spare. At this point though, waiting is not an option so I am just going to go ahead and worry about the cash afterwards. It is bad enough losing another pet so soon, having to worry about having to money to end his suffering at the same time is just one step too far. I literally feel like I am on the verge of breaking. 😭

I'm so sorry. You are doing the right thing for him, perhaps mention at the vet that you could do with any help, and whether there might be a charity that might contribute. Would the PDSA help?
