Thank you all so much for all the birthday wishes. I hope you also had had a lovely birthday @daisy_1571 !
The past few days have been a bit of a blur to be honest. My birthday was just non stop. I am glad to report that dd1 did indeed come home and has been making good progress ever since. It was all so physically and mentally exhausting for dd2 and I that we both pretty much got home, ensured dd1 was ok and then both crashed. The next couple of days was spent trying to take baby steps towards getting back to normal life - lots of cleaning and washing involved ahead of people coming to check in on dd1 and me trying to give the dogs lots of attention after there impromptu incarceration. I was so tired that I could barely keep by eyes open and at one point dd2 found me asleep on the sofa with both labradors on top of me licking my face and I just slept through it.
I can happily report that I did manage to squeeze in 10minutes on my birthday to go and at least partially uncover my Musa Basjoo plants in the garden and they not only made it through the winter but they’ve both already started growing again! I was so pleased, and honestly the short time standing in the fresh air listening to the birds was exactly what I needed to keep me sane and useful on what turned out to be a very stressful and exhausting birthday. I did still get a cake - the girl’s finally got to bring it out at about 10pm and they sang Happy Birthday to me bless them.
The days since then have been spent just trying to recover.
dd1 has required daily injections - sounds very simple until you realise that dd1 and are are both needle phobic! 🤦♀️ I was really hoping that she would opt to inject herself but I was not so lucky. The first injection took us over an hour to do! 😬 She wanted to look, then she didn’t... She wanted to count down, then she didn’t… I just wanted to run away, but then I realised I am in fact a parent and needed to get over myself and make sure she had the injections so she gets well (Still easier said than done)! The important thing is we did it. 🎉 And whilst we still both have a little wobble every morning about it, the time it takes to get in the right headspace and get it done is getting quicker. Just 6 more days to go!
For the sake of myself and the dogs, I have spent a few hours each day in the garden. The weather has been lovely so whilst they have been romping around playing and digging holes, I have spent the time emptying the compost bin and using it all as a mulch for around the plants already in the ground, then refilling the compost bin with all the straw from around the Musa Basjoo’s. Big Dog loves playing in all the straw and his new favourite pastime has been stealing my stuff and burying it in the straw! Thankfully, his cheeky grin when he has something he knows he shouldn’t have, totally gives him away - otherwise I may have been looking for my secateurs for a very long time again!

I will echo the congratulations - it's amazing what abilities parenthood brings out in us. And how lovely of your girls to give you cake.
The time in the garden is a fantastic idea and will pay dividends, though you may have to cash those dividends in if Big Dog hides much more! Tie a bit of pink wool or something on the secateurs - makes them easier to spot. I have lost various implements over the years because I hadn't marked them in something easy to see.

Happy belated birthday 🥳 Great news that your DD’s op is done. Well done with mastering the injections, I’d be wary of doing them too 😬

Morning all. 👋
Good news - I woke up this morning and discovered that my two most expensive credit cards are increasing my limits from early April. Now, taking out more debt is the absolute last thing I want to do right now but it might actually be a saving grace as I still don’t have a plan for paying everything between now and the end of June when I get my payout. With Fluid adding an extra £1650 and Aqua giving me an extra £1400 headroom, I should (if I need to) be able to stay on sick leave and juggle everything until I get my payout. 🤞 Currently I am off work until the end of March and my official leaving date is now confirmed as 31st May. I have about 5 weeks annual leave to use up and I am still in discussion with work if I can go back a couple of days a week to boost my pay, but hopefully not put my recovery back. I really don’t want to put my living costs on a credit card so I am still trying to avoid it at all costs, but at least with the extra space I know I have a buffer if I need it. This is a huge relief as I have been getting very worried that Little Dog might still have to go back to the vet, Big Cat is still with us for now but could need putting to sleep before June and the van is due it’s MOT in April (which I already know will need repairs for). Anything that I do spend will be the first to be repaid as it has a near 30% interest rate but at least I will be able to continue to pay all the bills. 😁

That's a great relief, but of course they have an eye on how much they will get back in interest.
Good you have a final leaving date. 😊
