    Thanks @Soontobeoap 😊

    Couple more questions (sorry! 😊).

The chain to make space for the treble stitch row and the treble stitch itself, use the same previous row stitch to form? You make them in the same previous row stitch?

Which book is this from please?

Not sure I understand but hope this answers your question. If not ask again.

    1) the guide is from 2 different very old patterns. Before YouTube etc when you could find everything on line.

    2) The diagram is for starting off your work. On 2nd row I turn work. Then make 3 chain and count that as first tr ( treble) of row. Then into 2nd tr of row  continuing with a tr in each stitch right to the very end. ( Always count beginning ch as a tr and count you trs in each row after you have completed it to make sure you are keeping the same amount of stitches.

The sides are never quite as straight as knitting in the beginning but that will come with time. If I were you I would just concentrate on keeping straight to start with and change colours later

On another note has anyone seen Prima magazine for June. I received mine today and there is a lovely crochet summer cardigan and bag as well as a very pretty knotted summer top. Think they have excelled themselves this month. 😊

    1. Aww ... shame, oh well  :)
I have found a colleague at work who might be able to help me at lunchtimes ... :)

    2. This is really clear, thank you. It's much appreciated, you taking the time to write this out. I plan to have a quiet weekend this weekend, so will just sit and practice squares.

@KajiKita All I would add to the excellent info you've been given is take time to look at a completed stitch as that will help you determine where the top of each stitch is. Then, it's count, count, count. 🤣  I think that's why I like crochet and knitting when watching TV, it keeps part of my brain active but also quietens it down so it's not jumping around every which way. 🤣 Dx

When I first started crochet that's what caught me out- the turning chain! Actually by that time I had crocheted 2 bedspreads from squares! so in reality I wasn't a beginner.

it is very much easier if you have someone to show you. Even now, many years later I do count, that way if I've started with , say, 50 stitches, I still have 50 several rows later. Generally in a pattern it says something like: 3 ch. to stand as first treble, treble to the end of the row, turn... and so on

I have returned from a family trip to Disneyland Paris and slipped, tripped and fell into spending quite a lot on Disney themed scrapbooking supplies for a scrapbook of it all... 🤦‍♀️ still haven't done my wedding scrapbook. I bet I'll do this holiday one before I do my wedding scrapbook 🤣🤦‍♀️
