Glad you got the roof sorted @joedenise and fingers crossed he can finish it tomorrow. Thanks for the info on B. Good idea to wait until the NY for lots of reasons…..Went into work today. It’s three women in a relatively new partnership and the main lady I’m supposed to be supporting said she’s going to quit! So instead of me being there 3 days a week they can only offer me one. Which means significantly less money coming in. I was so down about it I picked up a choc bar on the way home ☹️
Dinner was a new recipe of Char Sui Pork. Nice but a bit of a faff and used multiple pans plus food processor, so lots of washing up!More painting tomorrow early doors to catch the daylight!
Good on you @Jellybaby x Hope you feel

Morning all, weather is supposed to be dry and sunny today! Will get some washing done once it's light and the sun is out a bit (so I can use the solar power rather than paying for electric!). Need to take the car in for service for 8 o'clock so won't do the washing until I get back.
That's not good @Coxy11 about the job. One day a week is almost not worth bothering about and as you say far less money. Are you going to look for something else or just do the one day a week? Or is that a decision for once you've got over the disappointment.
I've prepped a PON recipe for SC beef madras which I'll put on just before we go out so it will be ready by about 4pm. I'll then take out half to reheat for dinner and leave the rest to cool down to go in the freezer for next month after we get back from holiday.
Today's plan:
B - fry up with sausages - P; S; F; 2
L - bacon & mushroom sandwich - HEB; P; S; 1.5
D - beef madras, rice, mango chutney - P; S; F; 3
HEA - milk
HEB - bread
Syns - LF spread 1.5; mango chutney 3
Have a good day everyone.0 -
What a disappointment @Coxy11 when you'd only just got started. Have you thought what you might do next?🤔 Shame about the chocolate bar but quite understandable.
I think I'd have been sounding off too @Jellybaby. I'm sure you'd prefer to do the one Christmas shop your brother planned with the parents rather than the fixed Fridays week in and week out. How are you today?🤔
You were up with the lark this morning @joedenise. 😴 Do let us know what you think of the beef madras. We like a curry and love the idea of putting it all in the SC.
I've been trying on my party dresses this morning. I've got a couple of black tie dances coming up and wanted to check they still fit. They fit fine but my stomach is a bit bloated, hopefully that's a temporary thing.🤞🏼
It won't help to have two lots of baked beans today but I'd planned the sausage casserole as we'll need something easy tonight before DH decided on a breakfast fry up. He was cooking it so I'm not going to argue.🤣 The sausages are the last from the freezer @maddiemay so hope I have more luck than you replacing them.
Today's plan-
B- HEB toast, eggs, bacon (P), baked beans (S), HEA milk for drinks
L- LOs as yesterday (P,S,F)
D- sausage casserole with penne (P,S,F)
Syns- BGTY sausages 20 -
Hi all,
Sorry to hear about the job @Coxy11 how inconsiderate of her! But I’m a great believer in what’s for you etc and something better will definitely come along.
Another beautiful but freezing cold day here. I really should do some housework ……. 😎
Up later this morning, I had a sweet omelette with banana, mango and yoghurt for brunch with a tbsp toffee syrup - I’m counting 2 syns for yoghurt and syrup. I’ve a ham joint in the slow cooker for dinner with potatoes, carrots and cabbage.
Have a good day everyone.0 -

Reporting back @maman on the PON beef madras as requested! It was lovely and will definitely be making it again in the future. The only change I made to the recipe was to use 1 tsp of hot chilli powder rather than mild chilli powder - the reason for this is that DD2 had already made this recipe and said it was a bit too mild with only using half tsp as she didn't have any mild chilli powder.
A box with 2 portions has been added to the freezer to have after we come back from our holiday next month!

Late one from me, sorry.Second coat of paint today in hallway, stairwell and landing, then we mowed the back lawn and swept the patio. Both green waste bins full to bursting.Breakfast was an apple and a satsuma, lunch was a portion of chilli con carne from the freezer with a protein flatbread. Dinner was Easy Beef curry from the 50 Golden Greats book - a new to us recipe which DD offered to cook. Unfortunately DH picked up casserole steak(!) which was tough as old
boots after only 30 minutes cooking….Workwise I’m going to continue with the one day for now and see what gives. There’s a school invigilator role being advertised so I might look into that too. Just need four years part time until my work pension kicks in - so annoying.Cross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 25/25 Currently reading Guilty by Definition by Susie Dent0 -
