Morning all, it's very grey again this morning.  Didn't get all the washing dried yesterday so had to finish off some of it on the airer but it's all dry this morning so that's been folded and put away already.

I use an 80ml cup measure (about 80g) for rice - one scoop per person and double the amount of water.  I have a bit less than DH so probably nearer 90g and I have about 70g.  I've tried cutting it back further but DH always says he hasn't got enough so now stick to the approx 80g.

Packing is almost done, just a few bits to put in the case - we're only taking one case between us plus a small rucksack each to hold things like iPads and chargers.  Will also fold our jackets to put in there once we're in the airport.

    Today's plan:

    B - fry up with sausages - P; S; F; 2
    L - burger, onions, WM roll, gherkin slices - HEB; S; 0.5
    D - lamb shank, SW roasties, stuffing, green veg - S; F; 6

    HEA - milk
    HEB - roll
    Syns - sausages 2; burger 0.5; lamb shank 3; stuffing 3

    Have a good day everyone.

PS. - I won't be posting until a week tomorrow for obvious reasons but will try to read if the wifi at the hotel isn't too flaky!  Data roaming isn't included on our phones for Tunisia so hotel wifi it will have to be.

    Morning all :)

Really, really foggy here can't see a hand infront of you, winters on it's way  :'(

I was just reading through some of the older pages, lots and lots don't post here any more  :'(

Denise have a fab time, least you will be warmer there than here !

I have lamb for tea, bought a shank reduced and it's been in the freezer ages, dh does not like lamb so he has pork that i cut  off a joint, debating whether to do the lamb in minty gravy or just roast it plain, we will see at the time.

I like lamb shank done in minty gravy and cooked in the slow cooker so that it's really tender.

Although it's going to be warmer than here I've looked at the forecast for the coming week and it looks like there's a fair chance of thunder storms - just hope we don't get caught in any of them when we're out walking!

    Morning all,

Thank you for the walnut info. I had some for my syns yesterday.

A bit of a later start. We went to the pub and I had a Diet Coke plus took my water bottle. I left at 10pm but DH, DD, DS2 and DD’s friend stayed for a lock-in and got home at 1.30am (ask me how I know…).

I’ve only had tea and an apple so far. Youngsters are ordering breakfast from the Golden Arches. DH making himself a sausage sandwich in AF.

More gardening on the cards for me today then a roast chicken dinner later. Will serve with sugar snap peas and tenderstem broccoli. The others will also have cauliflower cheese.

B - apple, WM toast, marmite - S, HEB, Free
L - LO rice stir fried with ham, peas, egg and soy sauce, salad garnish, satsuma - free, P, S
D - roast chicken, roast potatoes, sugar snap peas, broccoli - P, free, S
    HEA - milk
    Syns - 2 x ryvita, light Philadelphia - 3 plus HEA

Have a fantastic holiday @joedenise xx

  • Re pasta, a 500g pack does 6 portions here. I use 6oz between us which is roughly 83g each. OH has more than I do but its usually plenty.

Disaster last night making pavlova. Used aqua faba (?) and is was going lovely and stiff and shiny after adding sugar. Then suddenly it collapsed and went all thin. Any ideas? Luckily had some MnS meringue nests in cupboard.

1 butcher sausage in wholemeal pitta for breakfast. Roast beef etc for late lunch and nothing later (that is the plan!)

I tried using aquafaba for meringue a long time ago and had exactly the same problem.  I wondered if it was because I used sweetener and not sugar but you've said you used sugar so perhaps it's not that!  Sorry can't help.

Just googled it and says the reason could be over whisked aquafaba or adding the sugar too quickly.  So don't know if either of those scenarios apply to your meringues @Wilmaknickersfit.

Didn't get to post yesterday but did read along. Well done on the losses (and your gain @bubbs😁).

I stayed on plan yesterday except for my usual wine syns, today is much the same.

I'm going dancing this afternoon but will have an early lunch before I go. It's an hour's drive from here so will need to go soon. I'll pick at anything SW friendly from the buffet at teatime (I'm taking fruit) and then I have a chicken casserole prepped for when I get home.

Have a great holiday @joedenise. Hope the weather is kind to you. 😎
