I absolutely love that bag. I'd have snaffled it at that price tag as I knew what it was as soon as I saw it and I probably would have cuddled it all the way home and it would now be a firm favourite of mine. I hope you love it, but if not, pop it on one of selling sites. You will do so well with that. Really nice find.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -
@Magpie100. Ooooh, love that vase….hope you don’t have a cat!!Re the Alexander Wang bag - it will come in handy for a forthcoming trip abroad and then, depending upon how it ‘works’, I will have to decide if it is a keeper or a seller! This week's bargains….a pair of grey, straight legged jeans by Viyella from the Sue Ryder shop for £2.99, (to go with aforementioned bag!) and a George midi dress from the St Gemma’s shop for 99p, does not have much hanger appeal and looked a crumpled mess in the shop but a quick wash and iron and it looks and feels nice on. Roll on summer!!!8

Excellent trip to the CS today one small insulated teapot affair (I’ve been looking for one for ages) for £3 and……….
large pine chest of drawers for DBro1 ( he’d asked us to keep an eye out for one with deeper drawers). It needs a bit of love and wax but it’s got both wooden drawer bottoms and a wooden back and a very smooth action on its runners.DSis and I have also been keeping an eye out for a bistro set and lo and behold what was delivered today to the same shop but a 3 chair bistro set!Everything is getting delivered on Wednesday.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Oh dear, dunnit again, bought another bag! Is there such a thing as a ’Handbag Addicts Anonymous’ support group? From a Thirsk chazza, a burgundy clutch type bag by LK Bennett, has an internal zipped pocket for cash, card slots and just enough room for a phone, keys & tissues, £20. Also picked up a pair of new, TU slippers, very cosy, £5.

Taxco charity book shelf came up trumps again yesterday. Spotted a pristine condition (so never been in the kitchen) hard back copy of Keith Floyd's A Feast of Floyd. It appears to be a signed copy but OH thinks it may have been printed to look that way. I like it as it's not just his name but has a wine glass under it as well.
Floyd's TV shows were a favourite of ours when we first met in the late 80s and I remember very well when he did a show on Jersey. He had a camp stove set up in a field of cows and cooked calves liver with cream and chives. It's a massive coincidence that the OH had bought some liver this week to cook in exactly the same way for our dinner tonight!!
What I love about his books is the absolute joy in his writing about his life and the food he has enjoyed (or not!) and in most of his books there's a long introduction to each chapter of recipes to say why or where he first had this soup or that meat dish cooked by a friend or someone's grandmother. Great fun.
This was the day after I'd given OH the Elizabeth David book on ices that I'd found the same spot. I'm guessing they're both from the same home as Floyd really based a lot of his recipes on David and they are both about the same vintage. (books, not cooks) OH was a bit embarrassed that I'd bought his a present for Valentine's, saying that he'd forgotten about it (really? but it's February!!) But then the post was delivered and there was a scarf he'd spotted when shopping for LPs on the Oxfam website so that kinda makes up for it. Must remember to take a pic to share with you as I do know the rules.
@Miro if there's a handbags anonymous I suppose that means there's a scarves anonymous as well???I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Not a charity shop but freegle.....someone had on offer a grill pan. You know the sort of thing you put under the grill to cook your bacon etc.
As chance would have it a year back when we had our kitchen redone it did not occur to us to hang on to the grill pan even though it was the only bit of the oven that still worked really. By the time the new oven was unpacked and installed and we realised there was no grill pan with it it was too late to rescue the old one. So after looking online, including with the oven manufacturer (who had nothing), and not being able to find anything like what we had I finally caved in and spent £30 on an inadequate GP from Lakeland. Too small, awkward, the rack tracks ran the wrong way but nothing else was available really.
Fast forward to this weekend and the OH cooked some tuna steaks on the GP and the handle cracked. The end of it fell off leaving a jagged edge to the handle which was already too short to retrieve the pan from under the grill without serious protection. I was contemplating trying to glue it together or something and then spotted on freegle someone had a "used but completely clean, with very little wear" 14x11 GP!. I popped a message off asking could I pleaseplease have it and promised to pick it up promptly. Found the house, got the GP, got it home, unwrapped it from vast quantities of bubble wrap and frankly I thought it was new. Ok it's been used a bit but if fits perfectly under the grill, the handle has a practical quick release so it doesn't have to be attached under the grill but also means that the whole GP can be moved easily into the oven too. BRILLIANT!!!
Meanwhile I've discovered that Lakeland has a 3 year guarantee so I'm going to clean up the one we've been using for the last year and pop into their shop and see if they will give me a refund. If not I'll be happy to take a replacement. And that will likely go to a charity shop or back on to freegle!!!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
