Long Tall Sally dress from charity shop in Thanet for £5. Although they are made for taller women and I'm only 5 ft 4 inches it looks fine.8

I popped in to the charity shops in Marylebone at the weekend. Great off you are smaller than a size 10 and less than 5ft 6 in height, but not so good for those of us who have hips. Not a total loss though as I did manage to buy two Christmas gifts (signed books) and then was successful on Oxford st with a book I wanted. Five miles walked and it was a lovely day out.10

At the start of the year I made a list of things that I wouldn't be buying on account of having far too many than I can consume, which included candles, skincare and lipsticks. I had no choice but to break my vow on skincare as I have got through tubs and tubs of it in the last 3 months alone (long story, but I have found Boots £10 Tuesday to be helpful here). Having said that, very regular usage - and I mean applying every couple of hours including overnight - has made a huge difference to my skin. It is noticeably less fragile than it has been of late and this perhaps sounds a little silly, but I am starting to feel myself again now.
@Watty1 - where in the world are you? Trilogy is good stuff but its price point means it has to be used sparingly.
@dawnybabes - what a Prai bargain! I would be slathering it all over my neck, regardless of where it is supposed to be applied
@annieb64- LTS is good quality stuff.
@MrsCatz - I love Marylebone High Street but the chazzers are far too expensive. Occasionally I buy a book from the Oxfam store but in the back of my mind I am always thinking I know where I can find interesting books for 20p each or 4 for £1 and that keeps me happy. One thing I love about this area is the buzz especially in the summer time, so I am more likely to stop at a bar for a drink and watch the worlds go by than make a chazzer purchase. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.8 -
I’m in Kent. Happy to pm you details of shop (I would rather not put myself here as still worth about ex)Am using Trilogy cleanser in a glass bottle with pump as hand wash in kitchen as was £1. Gorgeous stuff.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!9 -
Sorry @Watty1 I didn't realise your situation. I'm occasionally in Kent (which I appreciate is vast!) so please do PM me. JackieO was also in Kent but now seems happily resettled in IoW.No man is worth crawling on this earth.

At the moment like the majority of the country we are suffering a water shortage ( Southern Water hosepipe band begins next Monday ) so we are hoping the weather breaks shortly as the gardens are parched and we have been using watering cans for the tomato's and potatoes for a couple of weeks. The grass is brown and the flowers are struggling
Both water butts are bone dry now.
When it cools down a bit I shall have a trawl through some of the many CS in Ryde ( there are a good few) to see what bits I can find for Xmas presents.
I'm doing a fair bit of knitting at the moment as I want a nice colourful throw for my eldest DD for her caravan. I still have a good stash of multicoloured wool to work throughPlus some dolls clothes for the great granddaughters
Just seen on the news that inflation is climbing again, I hate to think what the next budget will be in the autumn.
i think it will hit a good few folk hard this winter. We’re ok financially but I do have some friends who are struggling at the moment. Perhaps it will be a ‘make do and mend’ for many people
I grew up with rationing so streeeching stuff is second nature for me
Roll on the times for blackberrying as I will be out there hunting for stuff to wash and freeze for the winter
our spuds are near ready for digging up and Jack and Mikey two of my grandsons are arriving on Friday so I have a good jute spud bag for them to fill up and a couple of beers for them when they have finished digging them up 🤣🤣🤣
cheers chums first red tomato tester lots in the plants as well so what’s not eaten will be turned into a nice pasta sauce and frozen
I waste nothing if I can help it we also have a decent sized pepper plant plus a chilli plant I resuscitated from the bargain shelf at B & Qs that was 50p

A couple of things found today... A jade face roller for £1.99. I'm not sure if I believe in the claims for these so didn't want to buy one new. I've put it in the fridge as apparently it's nice to use on your face when cool.
A pair of gold Superdry sliders. I thought these were a bargain at £3.99, but I see you can buy online now for £4! https://www.allsole.com/p/sandals-women-footwear/superdry-women-s-pool-slide-sandals-black-rose-gold-camo/12016101/
You win some, you lose some...
A pair of Cotton Trader walking trainers for £4.99 to put away for Autumn.6 -
I went on a charity shop road trip today, stopping off in various towns all across the Chilterns where there seem to be quite a few hospice shops for charities I've not heard of before. It felt good to support those rather than just the usual big names.
I bought all sorts of things, mainly toys and clothes for the grandchildren (Disney Princesses feature quite heavily!), but I also bought myself a nice short sleeved jersey maxi dress in a bright blue and orange floral pattern and a couple of long sleeved tunic tops which will be perfect for when the weather cools down a bit. Also bought a brand new in box set of woodland creatures cookie cutters (baby grandson's first birthday party in September is going to be a woodland themed picnic, so perfect for this), and a brand new boxed glass tumbler bearing the legend "Not a School Night" which will be a Christmas present for my school teacher daughter (probably with wine and other treats as part of a hamper of some kind).
