Good morning chums I am sitting by an open window in my sitting room (we had the builder adapt the large garage into a second sitting room for me plus a small shower and WC) So although we all live together I have my space and DD and my son-in-law have theirs
Our TV tastes are different, plus I think its important to keep my independence, and we have our own bit of space to relax.
its blistering hot today and barely a breath of air, fingers crossed it will break soon.My eldest DD is on holiday in Zante and she said it was 29c at 1.00 this morning there . I don't think I could cope with that sort of heat during the night.I managed 5 hours last night then was awake so I made a cuppa (I have a kettle and little fridge in my en suite bedroom) Had a nice cuppa and read for half an hour then dropped off for another three hours so feel quite refreshed this morning .
Far too hot to go in the garden even at the moment (its south facing) but by around 4 o'clock we get some nice shade so I will be out there with my book and another cuppa enjoying the cooler air hopefully. My potato patch is almost ready to be dug up and next Friday we have two of the boys coming over jack for a week and Mikey for longer as he is the tail end Charlie of the family of one girl and four boys, and is at Essex Uni just got his last year to do for his degree so he will be here until probably mid September.
I shall enjoy feeding him up as he is rake thin bless him. DD and son-in-law Simon have gone out to lidls to get some BBQ bits for tomorrow so its just me and the two dogs .both dogs look thoroughly fed up with the heat as at the moment even taking them down to the beach wouldn't be good as the sand will be too hot for them We will probably do it this evening so they can have a good run.Our local beach at Appley is dog-friendly and there is a nice coffee place where I can sit and watch the boats, and DD and son-in-law will run the dogs.
So not much thrifting going on at the moment ,but then not much spending eitherso that in itself is thrifty
Keep cool and carry on chums the heat will soon be back to normal

Charity shop haul of beauty products: Trilogy exfoliating body balm (retail around £24) for £1; anti aging oil (retail £27) £1; vitamin C booster (£25) £1 2x skin care starter kits for £2 each and 2 x body wash and Body oil sets for £2 (can find on line for around £12 to £14)
Total spent £11 for a haul that seems to be £130 retail roughly)
Most of this I will use myself but I will save one of the body wash sets as a emergency gift. It is all new as the factory that packs it is close by and they sometimes drop off small amounts of old stock. They remove the cellophane wrappers and the Charity Shop sells as new.
There was a bit left so if I like it when I try it today and tomorrow I will pop back as this seems to be a very nice brandMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Used to have a Liberty fabric factory about 8 miles from work in rural Somerset
I used to get beautifully made clothes from there for a fraction of the price. Still have them but they don't fit now 🥴
Won't part with them because I'll never have anything that good again.
Oh logged in to say what a lovely photo of the ducklings in the garden 😍
And yes they do produce 2 broods. Don't think they have much choice with the way drakes are
My local pond 4 out of 8 survived. Second brood on the go. I have a photo of one left behind going so fast he was running on water 🙂I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Popped back to CS today and bought more toiletries, apparently they have been gifted a pallet load. I bought a cleanser to use as hand wash in kitchen, a retinol alternative and some more of the sample packs as I will use these. Am well stocked. Messaged local friends and one has popped in and bought everyone that wont know where the products came from gifts for Christmas. The lovely ladies told me to pop back in the week as they have another pallet load arriving on Wednesday of similar quality but different stuff. I think everyone will be getting shower gels, body washes and body oils this yearMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Anyhoo…. ‘we’ seem to have settledi into a routine now. Daphne + chicks, (still x 6), walk through the garden every morning at 7a.m., stopping for a drink, a snack and a bath, the tinies do a few laps of my feet, (they seem to have no fear of humans), then out of the back gate and I escort them across the road to the farm next door. 8.45 p.m. on the dot they do the return journey…stopping off for a shower as I’m usually watering the veggies, (used bath & shower water honest - we have a hosepipe ban!). Then comes the fun bit. Daphne leads the chicks out the front garden by way of a 3ft wall(?). She jumps and flaps her way down followed by three of the most confident chicks who just hurl themselves off the wall and sort of bounce. The remaining three hesitate until Daphne honks impatiently and eventually two of them brave the descent. The last, the tiniest, squeaks and flaps and wails in despair until mum and siblings give up and wander off. Eventually ‘Tiny’ gathers its courage until *squeak*, *flap*, *thud*, *bounce* and off it runs to catch up the others on their way to the pond. This routine is happening every day now!I’ve dunnit again haven’t I? Apologies to those fed up of my duck reports.🥵
Two b/n dresses picked up in Cancer Research chazza shops in Northallerton on Sunday. Green spotty was £5.95 and red jersey £6.95.20 -
I saw that the ducks were on the MSE page too.
I will have a quick look around the chazzers today as I have been quite lucky lately.7
