It is a nice bag.
No chazzers for me for a while, declutterring is the name of the game here, so I may have to move to another thread…..5 -

I LOVE this thread - I have been really careful about what I bring into my home since I downsized 5 years ago but (as a reformed chazzer-shop-aholic!) I live vicariously though everyone's posts and adore reading about all of the bargains found and problems solved.
Love it - so uplifting.
I'm about to read Patrick Grant's book following a suggestion on this thread (I think).

Me too, I love seeing what you all find, it is great fun.
@Working_Mum I see your platforms have made it to the forum home page.

I just found a pair of white New Look trainers from the hospice shop in Leigh-on-sea for £7. They are in the washing machine now.8

At fast approaching 47 am I still allowed to wear white trainers and lace or should I be making a demure transition to sack cloth and ashes?????🤔🧐✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Let rip with the sackcloth as soon as you want, but hang onto pockets...9
-
Will you be accessorising said sack cloth with a belt, fabulous bag and sunglasses?
i wonder what these fashion deities wear whilst typing out these diktats? My money is its not a smart tweed suit akin to Margaret Rutherford10 -
Good point about the pockets @DigForVictory! They may take my trainers from my feet but pocket removal is a step too far! Now, as the proud owner of shocking pink, what I can only describe as ultraviolet and some forest green sunglasses (and a bad case of hayfever) I never leave home without a fabulous pair of sunglasses!Sackcloth could be mistaken for tweed at a pinch and I do have a poncho-cape affair for when I turn into Margaret Rutherford (a la Madame Arcati in Blithe Spirit) 😉✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

C_J said:Yes, you are all correct, the tartan stuff is not nice. I can see now why someone donated it to Oxfam! However, knitting with the enormous needles is easy and fun so I will definitely investigate some different yarn. The problem is that the needles are only 16" long so it will either have to be something small (fluffy cushion cover?) or something which I knit in strips and sew together. Still, I think it will be an enjoyable experiment.
I must share this : a couple of weeks ago I accidentally knocked a picture off the wall when I was dusting too vigorously (this does not happen often, I assure you) and sadly the frame broke and was, despite my best efforts, beyond repair. I've been keeping an eye open, and a tape measure in my bag, for a similar style frame to turn up in a chazzer and yesterday I found the perfect one for just £2. I've just swapped the paintings around now, but hadn't really looked properly at the chazzer one, I was just preoccupied with the frame. It's an original watercolour, numbered 21/150, dated 1993. It's actually rather lovely and I looked the artist up online - she is still around, still painting, and her earlier works sell for anywhere from £500 to £2500!!! I'm going to drop her an email and see if she could tell me a little more about the subject - it's clearly a ruined Welsh castle, so I might be able to locate it myself, but it would be nice to know more. It is lovely so I shall keep it (but now I need to find another frame)

How exciting. You should print out her email and add it to the back of the painting for someone in the future to find. What an amazing buy11
