Hello everyone,
I'm loving the trainer talk and the insistence of wearing what you're comfy in - long may that continue! I hate reading judgy articles!
I think I was meant to buy these! I am going to a wedding in June and need something a bit glam and higher than I have currently in my shoe choices (the trouser suit I'm wearing is a tad long for me) - anyway I went into town and met my mum and sister for an impromptu mooch - found these Carvella wedges for £8 in the local cancer research shop. Further investigation shows RRP at £89! They fit me perfectly and I can walk in them! Result

@Working_Mum those are lovely wedges; too high for me now but I bet you will rock them!
@Miró love the white trainers. I too ignore judgy articles about what we should or shouldn't be wearing.
Just catching up on all the finds and lovely things from the last few days. We’re on holiday (in Wales), and today I went to a coastal town to have a nose round the charity shops. They were all very shabby inside and out,, but I found some amazing things, which just goes to show you always need to take a look! I spent a lot, but no regrets! It felt like I was charity shopping twenty years ago and before the shops knew what they had from online research …
An OSKA showerproof long coat in light grey for £6… I can’t find the equivalent online, but I imagine over £100 new.
A Puma lightweight running jacket in teal for £6
Preen Edition trousers. I’d never heard of this brand, but looking at the website it seems very high end! https://preenbythorntonbregazzi.com/collections/collections-view-all
This is what Chat GPT says about them: ‘Preen/Edition is a British fashion label created by Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi, known for its unique blend of punk-glam aesthetics and vintage-inspired craftsmanship. They are known for creating edgy, yet glamorous clothing, including dresses, separates, and jumpsuits. The brand is also known for its innovative use of fabrics and deconstructed techniques.’
After all that build-up, what I bought was a pair of plain wide-legged trousers white trousers with no embellishments, punk-glam or otherwise. But the material is beautiful and heavy. Not tried them on yet, and they might be a bit big, but we’ll see.
A White Stuff blouse, £4.99. Lightweight material in navy with yellow stars ad contrasting cuffs and button details
A blouse from https://mariemero.be/en/collections/blouses - Belgian brand. This had the tags on and was originally £149. I got it for £5.49. Blouse is lovely silky material but it’s muted browns and blues in a pattern that partner says looks like a virus replicating.
So I might sell it, will see how it looks on.
An unbranded dress (maybe linen?) that might or not work; we’ll see. It’s grey, thigh-length and quite Cos-like, but no idea where from. £7.50.
A light grey long-sleeved White Stuff top. Very plain but lovely condition and who doesn’t love a basic that is £4.49?
Feeling very grateful to the charity shop gods today. I only had 90 minutes free car parking so I actually had to skip a few, but then I’d done so well that asking for anything else would have been greedy…
Weather has also been surprisingly good, and the dog is having the best time exploring the beaches, forests and trails. After five days of two long walks a day he is exhausted, which is the aim!

@Working_Mum - ooh, I Spy With My Little Eye a Hornsea Tapestry pot! I collected a whole set of that back in the mid 1970s (from a seconds shop called Scoops, so it was quite inexpensive). I still have some bits of it, and the rest has been pinched by my younger daughter for her house. Apparently vintage is trendy these days 🤣5

- I love Hornsea Pottery! I have a variety of pieces and use them daily. I only have one piece of Tapestry though and rarely see it in Charity shops but I have it on the "list in my head" to keep an eye out for! Your daughter is very lucky!

I headed chazward this lunchtime secure in the knowledge I can be trusted. How wrong I was
Chazzer 1: a good quality black dress (Next Tailoring) for my sister which I'm sure she'll be suitably ungrateful for, and a cream Windsmoor quilted gilet, ideal for autumn / winter when I am layering up, just £2 each. Also 5 books for £1, one of which has been on my list since it was published 9(!) years ago.
Also one of these for £1.50, BN on Amazon £13.99.

^ What was the book?
I had an appointment near St Vincent's today so I looked in there. There were a few bits, but I didn't buy anything. I have another appointment tomorrow so I might check again.2025 GOALS

@Rosa_Damascena - ouch, I can't even think about such cruelty without crossing my legs! Brave you to read about it. I've been wondering about those batter jug gadgets, they look so convenient.
@Working_Mum - I'm impressed you can walk in those sandals but I'm sure you'll look great at the wedding.
@Magpie100 - that Preen aesthetic is very edgy isn't it, now I know where Boden gets their inspiration from! Hope the weather in Wales stays fine for the rest of your stay.
Like @Rosa_Damascena I proved conclusively yesterday that I cannot be trusted in a charity shop as I went a bit mad in Headington and snapped up no end of things.
I think you can see most of the prices below except the two yellow labels on the dishes which were both £1.50 and the two books with yellow dots were both half price. I'm wondering what to do about the pearl earrings as they each seem to have touched the ink on their label while it was wet which I didn't notice when I was looking at them in the shop and cleaning them runs the risk of making it worse or damaging them.
Then I also snapped up this Australian Women's Weekly cookbook, Boden and M*rks tees, Berghaus trousers and two floorcloths in very Farrow and Ball colours.
And, lastly, a nifty biscuit cutter that I used today and is wonderful, a book and lots of music to wash up by.
I think I'm going to have to do some serious decluttering at home before I go anywhere near another charity shop otherwise I shall simply disappear under a tottering mountain so this is it until I've donated or sold at least three bags for life full.

@Miró - Jess Cartner-Morley has spoken on the subject of trainers and midi length dresses etc. and I only noticed because of reading your earlier post!"She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

Would cleaning the pearls with milk work @goldfinches? I’ve successfully taken biro out if leather and fabric that way. It needs to be full fat milk as I think as it’s an enzyme in the fat that does the magic.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)
