@Miró - Jess Cartner-Morley has spoken on the subject of trainers and midi length dresses etc. and I only noticed because of reading your earlier post!
Hmmm.... not sure I'm going to be wearing ankle socks with my trainers!

a friends dvd player has just died, of overuse I suspect, so I'm going to be searching for a replacement for her starting tomorrow, fingers crossed.
Hi goldfinches - I have just returned from an expedition to Templar's Square (Cowley Centre) where I spotted four dvd players for sale in Orinoco. They ranged in price from £20 for a pretty tatty looking one to £50 for a Panasonic in excellent condition complete with cables and remote control. Don't know if that is of any use to your friend.

They very often have dvd players in the Sobell House Warehouse in Bicester, I'll have a look when I am next there.

As well as Cowley Centre (where I bought a large framed print for £2, I only want it for the frame, and a lovely bright coral coloured hooded rain jacket for £5) I wandered around the Helen & Douglas House hospice shop in Rose Hill (bought nothing) and the Oxfam Superstore on the ring road where I bought a jute shopping bag filled with giant balls of red tartan yarn (looks like 1-inch-wide fleece material rather than wool) and two massive bamboo knitting needles about the size of rolling pins for £5. I have no idea what I am going to knit with this but it just looked like a lot of fun!  Maybe not rolling pins, maybe curtain poles.
Oh, thankyou for spotting the dvd players. I'll get onto my friend asap. I'd love to see the jacket and the knitting wool too, sounds intriguing.
