Awkward question, pocket to be wine bottle size or paperback size.
Plus has anyone seen a petticoat (or other shapewear) that includes a bottleopener or am I expected to carry a handbag for that?
Lateral questions.....Have you seen "You've Got Mail!" The movie with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan? Well at the end Meg leaves her house/flat/whatever to go off to meet the mystery man she's been writing to via a modum internet email chat room thingme. OK so we all know that when you go off on a blind date, especially one arranged over the internet you should warn people, have an escape plan etc etc etc. But it always struck me that you should be carrying some ID and the key to get back into your flat. She waltzes off to Central Park without a purse/handbag and, crucially, wearing something that has no pockets. So where is she keeping her ID and her flat key?????

Another bumper week for lucky old me.
Cath Kidston oilcloth bag with a dog pattern and a removable shoulder strap as well as handles £4. I’m very much on team cat when it comes to actual animals, but I think dog motifs are cute.
Grey suede bag with a silver star £4
Turquoise leather clutch and purse £3
Boden blue and white below knee skirt £6.50
Boden green linen shirt dress £10
Levis 721 jeans £13.50
Joules dark navy gilet with striped fleece lining £6

Also
Pink Primark PE top 99p
Black Nike capri leggings with pink stripe down the legs that matches above top £4
Grey t shirt £1
My second pair of white leather trainers in 2 weeks. M and S £6. I don’t care what stylist says they are my summer uniform ( generally with a denim jacket). I dress for me and I like my style.
My best buy however was this gorgeous red velvet military jacket from Boden kids which fits me perfectly even on the sleeves which is often an issue £13.
Lots has gone to CS or Vinted to make space.7 -
@weenancyinAmerica - your suggestion of a bottle opener/belt buckle is inspired; when are you going to be producing them and can I put my name down for one please?
@DigForVictory - I do like your idea of Sir Humphrey and Sir Arnold discussing Machiavelli, most instructive I'm sure. As for underwear with useful attachments I feel sure the camping/hippy fraternity must have hit upon something similar although I've never actually seen such things for sale.
@Miró - lovely wash stand set and especially lovely piece of Caithness, I do prefer dark denim to any other colour so envy your jacket, how was the afternoon sale? I agree with carrying hankie, notepad and pen/pencil etc. and would add safety pins, your painkiller of choice and a small bottle of water to wash it down and some plasters. It's surprising how often I find I need to write something down these days either for myself or someone else.
@Potternerd - I love the dog bag and the wallet and purse but think your military jacket is outstanding. We should have a virtual fashion show on this thread one day, to show off outfits we've made from our finds as well as the nice bits we've found for around our homes.
I'm claiming two NSDs for yesterday and today mainly because I've been too busy to call in to my favourite shops however, a friends dvd player has just died, of overuse I suspect, so I'm going to be searching for a replacement for her starting tomorrow, fingers crossed.7 -
I had a lovely gentle trawl around the charity shops in two neighbouring towns this morning, making the most of the sunshine before the weather changes later in the week. I was surprised and delighted to see that several of the shops had started reducing the prices on all summer stock so I bought two T-shirts, two smarter (office wear) short sleeved tops, a short sleeved knitted jumper in horizontal stripes of apple green and white, a purple long sleeved T-shirt and a longline dressy black top shot through with sparkly gold thread which will be lovely for the Christmas party season. These were all just £1 each, and I also got a pair of jeans (not a branded make, in fact there is no label at all) which fit perfectly which is a miracle as I’m always fussy with jeans, and were £4. I also bought a paperback for 50p (Ruth Jones “Never Greener”), a new sealed box of 10,000 Hama beads and five peg boards for my granddaughter (£3), a really lovely board book about colours for my tiniest grandson (£1), and a new cuddly toy for the dog (£1).
Edited to add: I forgot that I bought a brand new sealed craft set for making fabric flowers, a bit like these. I have no idea how it works yet but will enjoy having a play, and might try my hand at making some organza flower garlands for small granddaughter’s bedroom. It was £6.6 -

I'm also a fan of YM and YPM and not so long ago saw a copy of the full scripts of YM in a chazzer. I walked out thinking that it would still be there the next day if I wanted it - and of course it had gone5 -
@Potternerd. Love, love, love the Boden skirt 😋
@goldfinches. Didn't find a thing at the afternoon sale. Starting to think that the car boot sales are going the way of the charity shops with the quality stuff ending up on Vinted & the other selling platforms. However, The Bloke got loads of ‘man things’….(weird bits & bobs thatI haven’t a clue what purpose they serve but they were met with exclamations of wonder and delight. Also picked up some old but top quality gardening implements for silly money.
Today a quick look in the CRUK shop andI picked up a brand new pair of white Gabor trainers for £6.95…currently sellingi at John Lewis for £110 ☺️. Another element to add to my collection of unsuitable apparel for women over a certain age!
Oh, and Mrs & Mr Daffers appear to have moved into our garden officially now. We think she has nested again in our ‘Re-Wilding’ area, (*cough*…neglected). The pair appear late every morning and they perambulate around like they own the place for a while. Then Daffers disappears and he carries on meandering looking all sad and forlorn til she re-appears again at tea time. They really do seem very bonded. Hope we get to see more chicks.
