I am still shocked at the teenagers who look as if they had put on black tights and forgot the skirt or trousers.
I have suggested that a few with ripped jeans ask their Gran to darn them.
At least the young men have stopped trying to wear jeans they outgrew at about age ten and couldn’t pull up.

Oh wow, if I went out like that around here the nice people from the home would be sent to ask if I was ok and if I know what the date is e.t.c
The young men here wear lovely suits and a string of pearls hidden under their collars instead of a tie.

Just had a quick sort through my clothes and I do have all those items………..still not something I would wear but pleased to know if I want to be fashionable I can do so at no additional cost. 😁🙌🏻4

Loving the fashion comments.....which reminds me of one of the highlights of our recent adventure abroad. We were sitting in a diner mid morning about to have breakfast and the OH nearly snorts his coffee. What he could see and I (thankfully) could not was a farmer pull in to park his tractor (not a John Deere btw) and climb down showing what my OH called "all sorts of deep cleavage". And then he gave his mucky jeans a tug north and came in the diner with his travel mug to fill up on coffee.
So to add to the conversation.....why can't working men (as it's almost always men) get jeans or other working trousers that fit and stay up sufficiently to help them keep their dignity? And (not that I really want to pry and know much more) why do they seem to be wearing bikini briefs? Those bagger boxers would do a world of good keeping them posteriors safe from sun burn, mosquitoes and whatever tractors wheels might throw about in a muddy farm yard.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. @Brie that is an interesting question. Is it a lack of awareness, comfort or giving us all a treat? Pants wise maybe they are the equivalent of a comfy bra.
@DigForVictory my very good friend wore Doc Martins to her wedding and mine. They were white and she changed laces to match outfits.
I wear my comfy 3 inch heals but if those are your comfy shoes, and the laces are pretty why not. You can always claim you sprained an ankle/ broke a toe/ injured your Achilles if asked.7 -
@Brie - an interesting question that, I suspect it's something to do with belts not being very comfortable when you do a lot of bending in the middle but still think the cut has a lot to do with it as well. I certainly agree that scanty undies seem to be the rule with men who have rear cleavage which is another interesting point to ponder. Perhaps you could start your own line of modest workman's trousers and underpants and save the nation from those 'orrible sights!
@DigForVictory - I can heartily recommend these FitFlop shoes for comfort and looking nice too, would the silver or the white ones be suitable for the wedding? There's 15% off if you sign up to be bombarded with marketing material or the Charles Clinkard shops often have offers.7 -

My trip to Otley this week, (not in fancy dress), was not very fruitful til I got to my last stop, Barnardo’s, where I found a red, plain, fitted dress by ‘Pure’. Love this make, such good quality. Fully lined, even the sleeves, and the seams instead of being overlocked are bound in satin binding. It was even reduced from £8 to £6.
