I go in charity shops all the time. There is one shop in town that I don’t go in often as it’s too expensive and I don’t often find things. I usually have a look in the window just to see what they gave Yesterday I looked in the window and saw an Emma Bridgewater Christmas mug. They wanted £20 for it You can buy one brand new on the Emma Bridgewater website for the same price. I just don’t see the reasoning My favourite charity shop sells clothing for £1 per item and better items of clothing for £2-£3 I know people will give reasons why they say that’s a fair price for the mug but I’m sorry it just seems greedy to me8

I agree with you @patricia50 - I don't think charity shops should be selling brand new goods at all. Our local charity shop is a Cancer Research one and everything used to be no more than £3 but earlier this year that went up to £5 so still reasonable although I find they have weird pricing! Some things they have priced at £5 I wouldn't give more than a couple of £s, things they have for a couple of £s could probably be sold for £5!

Zooming in - the size appears to be 14? If you don't love it, I would be happy to give it a good home.Rosa_Damascena said:Fabulous finds, @Miro ! The "drab" dress is my kind of thing, and will go well with the boots and dark red lipstick

I got a 2026 journal and a packet of incense sticks from Brighton Oxfam yesterday. It was very busy in there so I might go back again today.6

We have a well known charity shop in our area where they often will price higher end donations close to their original price in store. They prefer only higher end donations, it is not unknown for them to turn down an item because they can't price it the way they would like to, and it often sell new furniture costing hundreds of pounds. I avoid them as much as possible. I think it is cheeky and actually as you say why for example (using an item I saw in their window) would I buy a Kate Spade handbag there for £100, when I can get one from their outlet or shop in the sale at the moment for considerably less.patricia50 said:I go in charity shops all the time. I don't mind them selling mobility aids that is really useful or Christmas cards.8 -
Is it allowed to mention Vinted bargains? I needed a raincoat, I own one coat which literally soaks up the rain. Found one on Vinted and it was a steal, super bargain cost £2.80 including buyer protection plus £3.95 postage. Considering myself VERY lucky.

@Miro gorgeous finds; love the boots and the Hobbs dress. You always do so well!
Pleased to report there is still no sign of damage or moths on the Spirit of the Andes cardigan.
I've had a very satisfying day today. I found a pair of gorgeous Uniqlo trousers for £12.99. Expensive, but they are a collaboration with Clare Waight Keller, who used to be head of creative at Chloe. Very heavy beautiful material, black, cropped, will go with everything. No wear on them.
Then I found another Unqlo collaboration: this time with Marimekko. A mid length skirt made of fleece-type material, so perfect for this time of year. Really flattering on and £5.99.
I also bought a lovely long-sleeve top from Jaeger (£3.99) and a Zara metallic top (£4.99) for Christmas. I love finding brands like Jaeger as the quality and cut is often so much better than other high-street brands.
A pair of Nike Thermalite gloves for £1.99, a Hygge-brand neck gaiter for 99p, and 2 Sloggi lightweight bralettes (£4 each). These will be good for hot holidays when I hate wearing anything too restrictive, but still need a bra.
Finally a pair of Tu workout leggings for £4.99 which I have just road-tested at an exercise class.
I had to pass on a pair of BNWT M&S Mom jeans - I tried them on but they didn't fit well enough to spend so much on.
Very happy!11 -
Ooh that made no sense about the jeans. They were £16.99!6

I'm becoming a little neurotic about moths these days. I spotted an absolutely fabulous midi coat in the Thirsk Oxfam last week. Dark pink frock coat sort of style with a nipped in waist, cashmere & silk fabric, £12.99. Twas a high end designer make (can't remember the name!) and I was just about to try it on when...da da daaaa....teeny tiny holes across the back of the shoulders. These moth grub thingies certainly have good taste in which fabrics to chomp!9 -
I went into a shop in Leigh after physio today and found a black cardigan, a khaki denim jacket, a pair of new fingerless gloves and some PDSA Xmas cards. It is a good shop, but I don’t normally go into that one so I will in future.🙂10
