I went to the theatre last night and beforehand dropped off a donation bag to a shop called Shared Space in Westcliff. It was so cold and we looked for some warm jumpers while we were in there. I found 3 and my husband found 2 and they are in the wash at the moment.
That all came to less than £18 so money worth spent. 8 -
Did you go to the Palace opposite or the Cliffs after? And what did you see?Wednesday2000 said:I went to the theatre last night and beforehand dropped off a donation bag to a shop called Shared Space in Westcliff. We went to the Palace to see Ed Byrne and two other comedians. It is only the second time I’ve been there. We are going to the panto with Rylan Clark at Cliffs in December.Rosa_Damascena said:

@shandyclover, DD tore her new grey wool, school uniform coat across the back by climbing trees. As she got off the school bus another mother whipped the coat off her and said, “Don’t worry. I can repair that.” She brought it back looking perfect the next day. She said that it was an iron on ?powder on the reverse.
The same skilful sewer borrowed some of the uniform and sewed her daughter’s skirts and dresses.4 -
Just heard - moths can apparently survive for 9 months in outer space (extreme temperatures and in a vacuum). Learning they can survive -150degC is not good news.No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Thank you! I am now glad I did not buy the jumper I saw yesterday as I had an uneasy thought about moths for some reason whilst looking at it.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -
Now that's just what I needed to hear as I'm about to defrost my skirt to embark on a moth damage repair!!!Was looking at wool jumpers and coats in the chazza shops yesterday and it was shocking how many items had obvious moth damage. A lovely Jaeger coat, priced at £50 had noticeable holes chomped around the collar and shoulders.
One shop was having a Gold Star Treasure Hunt. Various items had a gold star on the price tag and if you found one the item would be priced at £1. I found one😋 a pair of M&S b/n trousers in navy & white gingham, were £5.99 but £1 with the gold star.

The internet is fascinating on moths what & how to deal."Placing infested clothes in a freezer for a few days can kill moth eggs, larvae, and adult moths, effectively halting the infestation. Subjecting infested clothes to high temperatures, either through washing, dry cleaning, or using a hot steam iron, can also eradicate moth larvae.""Realistically, 120 degrees Fahrenheit (49° C) is all you need to kill clothes moths in just a matter of a few hours (and even this figure is generous in order to make sure that there are no stragglers), but by cranking up the heat, the duration needed decreases.""The eggs can survive freezing, but the larvae can not. So, one way to deal with them is to freeze the items/yarn for a while, let them warm up for a couple of days so any eggs think it’s Spring and hatch, then freeze them again - quickly, because they can handle slower drops in temperature - and leave them frozen for several days."Our American cousins who knit have form for bagging up wool & leaving it in the car for a couple of nice hot days effectively killing off anything that can't cope with heat. (That would include me, but I can see it would work on moths too.) Some even oven bake their wool but that has my eyes crossing, then pondering the microwave, (Nothing with metal! no buttons, no hooks & eyes, no zips - but it has been tested successfully)Best of luck.6

I'm wearing a black and white long dress and a grey cardigan that I bought at the £1 jumble sale last Sunday.
Such good bargains. 2025 GOALS

They look uncomfortable! I wouldn't want to sit down in them. Garden parties only.Miró said:Now that's just what I needed to hear as I'm about to defrost my skirt to embark on a moth damage repair!!!Was looking at wool jumpers and coats in the chazza shops yesterday and it was shocking how many items had obvious moth damage.
