Thank you @Sarahwithlove @rachmac3  both of yours are looking FAB U LOUS too!!

I get a little feeling of elation when I update my figures in my little notes on my phone and on the signature but oddly it doesn't last very long before I'm itching for next month and willing it down further 😂

I remember when i started back in late 2024 and trying to project when i might be this time this year and thinking wow i wish i was there already. And now I'm here i want to be in next year 😂
If you have seen my recent thoughts on my diary Lzzy you will know that I feel the same re time!  I really don't want to wish time away (my youngest is starting school in Sept, the last five years have already whizzed by!!) but I do so want to be free of the debt that I feel has a hold on me.
Yes I did see that and it resonated a lot! I think we start with such intensity it's no surprise that we become impatient along the way. I find the same with decorating tbh - start with Great Gumption and finish with a sprint but halfway through think why did I start this!!

Ahhhhh well the NSD run came to an end as expected today - return of the dentist (well hygienist) so £93 but budgeted for and paid in cash.

I also treated the car to a £7.50 car wash as it was filthy and i can't remember when I last washed it (I'd have to trawl back through the diary to find the date).  One unexpected purchase today - a new top for work. I have been keeping an eye out for suitable replacements as my current ones are really quite old (I only wear them for work and have them on a 4 top rotation) and had to throw away 2 as they had became holey beyond repair. I think it was DH who pointed out that one of them was atleast 9 years old so it's served its time.  Having looked in the local charity shop first with no joy, i found a suirable replacement in a cheap shop in their sale for £7. I picked up a full.price one as a 2nd option but decided it didn't quite fit the brief and put it back.

Back to.work tomorrow but I am off this weekend. Christmas work rota is out and I've got some naff shifts this year and minimal time off at all over the Christmas break which is super disappointing but there's plenty of time for that to change........... plus, whilst I'm not adverse to being organised for the festive season (I like to be finished with the shopping by end Nov) IT IS ONLY AUGUST. I'm still.in summer mode and I am clinging on to it!!!!

Ah a super day at work today - days like these remind me why I love my job!

Not quite a NSD as I purchased a coffee for me and a colleague whilst having my fab day but I have enough "play" money left for it not to be an issue and still some left for the weekend. It was nice to be able to do that for her especially as she'd been a great help today.

Hoping there is some money left over in the general pot for another overpayment. The mortgage quotes have come through which need some careful thought and consideration - lots of pros and cons to balance up and dh and I need to have an individual think and then a joint think together about the options.

    Hope everyone is well x

(They throw the best damn parties at the) Rim of Hell - D.A.D

Oooof not updated for a week but I'm back (probably wasn't missed 🤣) - slightly obscure Danish band tonight but in my absence I'm afraid there was some partying. However I am pleased to report all recent spends were budgeted for and the unanticipated spends were cash flowed - it never even occurred to me to even take a credit card with me let alone use one. So although there have been no further debt decreases, similarly nothing has increased either. Tbh given the state of my finances a year ago this continues to be a significant step forwards and Hot Partying Summer is now officially Over.

Pay day was yesterday and the back pay was a little bit lower than I had guesstimated but there was no overtime and minimal travel money for July (can't claim what I haven't done!) so it'll be a STRICT September budget next month. Back pay has been squirreled away for Christmas and I have picked up a 2nd weekend of overtime in Sept because, well it's me and I can't say no 🤣

Off to catch up with other people's progress.

    Yes absolutely 🤣🤣

Although my mate did remind me that I just need to check that all these extra hours don't push me over the child benefit threshold - I think I should be ok but it never hurts to check and the blooming last thing I need is a tax bill!!

    Ah thanks!

Yesterday was a busy old day at work but despite that and feeling super tired I'm not sleeping well and blooming waking early 🙄. But silver linings and all that - I have a cuppa and my notebook and done a bit of a deeper review of my finances this morning. I still daily (atleast) check my banking app and my CCs daily just to make sure nothing untoward is going on - still a bit obsessive but it seems to work for me so I'm not complaining. My bank app tells me how many times in a year I've logged on so it'll be interesting come New Year to see exactly HOW often I have. I suspect it'll be huge 🤣

We have found a better mortgage deal which we are going ahead with - less interest but similar term due to DHs age even though he is still 13 years off retirement age. Once the debt has gone and a fully funded EF has been funded and I've finished saving for a new car (I know, I know but Dave Ramsey is still my go to pod cast currently and his prinicples seem imprinted on my mind!) I want to see if I can get rid of it early but that's a different battle further down the road.

The money change mentioned back in June (potential inheritance) may also be moving forwards but im still not 100% counting on that - it's seems so obvious but Properly Budgeting and Not Overspending our ACTUAL income has definitely got me to this point on this path so far and im carrying on. One thing I mentioned the other day was the Child benefit threshold - I think I should be ok but I am watching closely in case I need to do a self assessment tax thingy - it'll be the interest on the savings plan I am still clinging on to and my OEIC (my car fund) that'll maybe be the tipping point.

Back to one of my side hustles today even though my eyes feel super tired. Power through people 💪
