I've been very remiss in updating but there's been so much going on and it's been tough keeping all the plates spinning.
Money wise I'm actually doing ok so far this month and the new Debt Busting overpayment account is up to £9 already.
Money though really divides families doesn't it. There's been an awful lot emerging that I was unaware of involving significant amounts of gifted money (not to me obviously!!), which is probably not overly wise to share on a public forum! Needless to say it's caused rather a lot of upset and emotions on my side and I need to be careful resentment does not kick in and cause irreparable rifts. Dh has been a great support though and we continue with our current Pay Sh@t Off plan.Nov/Dec 24 £39 564

Danger Zone - Kenny Loggins
Did have to check which Kenny sang this classic from the 1st Top Gun film (nearly put Rodgers at first which definitely isn't right!)
Another NSD today - I'm not getting half bad at these although I really should start logging them properly so I can cheer myself on.
I am though mulling over car insurance. Now dear readers I will happily hold my hands up and confess that I can't remember the last time I considered paying an entire years car insurance upfront but when I was comparing the prices (yep this is me shopping around and not just accepting a rolling contract) I had a little jolt. I'd never really considered paying monthly for this kind of thing as "credit" and tonight looking at the annual vs monthly option with its 12% apr (so essentially an extra months payment) it hit me like a bus with the instant thought of
"oh no no no no no I don't doooo credit anymore " . For those of us old enough to remember Trevor and Simon and the duvet sketch it was very much in that style.
So a minor quandary. The monthly budget can accommodate a monthly payment. The EF can easily fund the annual payment (I just get heart palpitations thinking about touching it) and sticks with my No More Credit stance. In true Lzzy style I've decided to sleep on it and make no rash decisions. I'm not sure even I recognise myself anymore 😂

If it was me then I'd pay the full amount from the EF, it's one less monthly DD to think about and saving you in the long run, I say this as though I have experience in these things, I don't but I'm hoping next year I will be able to pay mine off for the year using money that I've saved. I know what you mean about spending money from your EF (I don't have much in mine at the min) but it does fill you with dread, if only I was filled with this dread whilst spending on credit cards 🤔2

I'd pay the full amount too. You can set aside some money monthly to be able to pay it in full going forwards too."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1

I’d pay the full amount as I have a fluctuating monthly income and it reduces ongoing pressure over the course of the year. I’d also use the extra 12% I would have paid to start a pay in full pot for next yearMortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Do you know I think I'm going to be brave and pay it all in one go.
The thought of more credit just makes me feel distinctly queasy even if it is an essential bill to pay. I can save towards the car EF and if I get to enough to cover the insurance and excess then I can shove it to overpayments.
While I'm raiding the main EF I'm tempted to payoff my phone handset too - it's down to 88 quid and while it's only 11 quid a month it's another thing gone!!Nov/Dec 24 £39 564
