I loved that book as a kid! I need a new user name for here, so I am looking for inspiration. I might pick something from a children's book.
    Good choice of song too.
Sorry to hear about the work uncertainty. That's mostly why I went back to uni so late, I was sick of my work situation being precarious. Unfortunately with job security came 30k of uni fees and a whole lot more of debt. From reading your diary this year though I have utter faith in your ability to deal with whatever happens and probably turn it in to a positive along the way.

Back on the chain gang - Pretenders

After a few days off for half term it was back to work today - I'm nothing if not predictable and picked up an extra weekend this month. Much as I internally moaned at myself this morning I know I will be grateful when the extra money hits the pay packet just before Christmas and sees me through the dark Eleven billionty days of January.

A NSD too which starts Nov off well but I have the dentist on Monday which inevitably will be pricey. I have decided to not overly mither and worry about work but just be sensible and really work on getting the EF as full as possible. Worrying about it isn't going to change the future.

November Goals are to commence the Christmas shopping (but I am chnneling last year and NOT going overboard ) and aim.to save £650 to EF. Still.missing the electric blanket - might make a cheer me up present after the dentist on Monday!

Minimal to report today (sorry not a very exciting update!)

Dh and I had a budget catch up early morning with a brew in bed 😂 Not probably everyone's 1st choice of timing 1st thing on a Sunday morning but he had a busy day ahead running the yoofs round whilst I was at work and it seemed a good time!

2nd NSD day today - I did nearly suggest a pint after work but it was dark and I suddenly felt super tired and tbh I couldn't be bothered to leave the house again 😂 how extraordinarily lazy.

Dentist tomorrow which I am dreading to be frank. Less said the better. On the way back I am going to drop a big box of donations to the local church who run a 2nd hand shop. Dh has done a tip run this weekend and so I'm hoping to do a bit more on the garage again on my days off. I also need to start doing some physical exercise again before I become a living version of Humpty Dumpty.

I'm joining you on the exercise mission, I've been very lazy  recovering from covid for the last 5 weeks but enough is enough now.
    Good luck at the dentist.

    Proper 90s tune for tonight

All you good good people Embrace

soo the dentist surprisingly went ok today -noone is more surprised than me on that front so.i shall continue. Still on super regular reviews which I'm ok with given my hyperchondria around my teeth

I'm still without an electric blanket but my mobile phone case is literally falling to pieces (although the phone is pristine! But likely not a valuable model otherwise id have flogged it long ago) So cold toes lose over ensuring the phone is ok. Tomorrow I will bite the bullet.

Today I'm a bit more worried about the old mental health tbh. It's not a sympathy vote but probably more psychological than anything. Its a harsh reality when you are worth more money wise not breathing than actually breathing. So far i am still going and not intending to not breathe if that makes sense :)

I'm glad your dentist appointment went well. Maybe you're recalibrating now that is out of the way? Also, it is full moon time. Hopefully you'll feel a bit more settled in a couple of days. Keep plodding on and keep breathing x

November is a funny old month for health and wellbeing.  You should be kind to yourself and I know this is an MSE site and you are focussing on building an emergency fund but honestly your toes deserve an electric blanket.  You don't need to be in a scarcity mindset - frugal is fine and so is spending sensibly but having cold toes when you won't be going into debt or adding to debt to help your poor toes is not being kind to yourself.

I find being cosy in my bed (my safe place) enhances my mental wellbeing. Almost every night I snuggle down, grateful for the warmth and comfort it provides and my outlook about everything becomes more positive. If I’m feeling down it gives me a place to hide. If serene, a place to read my book and do crosswords. If tired, a quiet resting place. It also encourages me to practice gratitude that I have this space and so many poor souls don’t. 😢
A heated blanket sounds to me like your actual and metaphorical comfort blanket. No way is that a waste of money! 😌
