Wasted Years - Iron Maiden
I've always found the chorus of this song very potent - a reminder not to wish life away and enjoy what you've got now before it's too late. If metal is your music Maiden are definitely worth saving the pennies for to see them play live.
Yesterday was the anticipated Spendy Day but well within budget and definitely one we wont forget. Some of my cost cutting measures implemented to keep it within said budget for the day may not be repeated though as the drive home post gig was particularly tough on DH. Lesson learnt and all that (but I was keen to point out we stayed in budget 🤣)
There are Winds of Change brewing though with potential news that would massively improve my DF journey and timescale - nothing is confirmed at this point and it's all kinds of variables of likely/possibly/potentially/maybe alongside an unknown timescale, but overall would be a hugely positive thing if it happens.
DH and I have had a very long chat this afternoon about what this news would mean for us and we have decided that we don't relax and take the foot off the strict budget and we carry on as per the current plan of paying things down as much as possible. One thing I have been very firm about is that when we (eventually) get debt free (however we get there) we are categorically not going to get into a similar mess again and we properly save for things and not shove everything on CCs like we have historically.
So that was my slightly unexpected bonkers weekend. Life likes to chuck in curved balls and being a Negative Nelly I am absolutely not going to count my chickens before they have hatched and get too excited. I don't think I could cope with the disappointment if it all falls through so I'm pretending nothing will change and on I plod.

Here comes the hotstepper - iNi Kamose
Are we allowed to say "oooooofffff it's very warm"? I have certainly felt like every step I've walked today was very hot 🤣 I don't mind the heat if I am sat chilling but work and heat shouldn't mix. Next week I'll be moaning about the British Summer and how rubbish it is lmao.
Some bills paid today including car tax - essential but never fun - and paid in full (big fat tick even if it was relatively small). This week's other job is to sort the car insurance and I will need a kick to do it mentally. Have paid mechanic mate too for the new parts but that's enough car news.
The next few months are shaping up to potentially be very stressful. I'm now down to start a course for work which I know has a very heavy workload alongside the day job in the Autumn. I also today helped my parent start the ball.rolling with their (potential) next big life change - it is said moving house is very stressful but I do think helping a relative do it just adds an extra fission and level of stress 😂. Still we've made a start and nothing ever happens until you do. Anticipate rising stress levels over the next (dunno how many) months. If my blood pressure stays intact it'll be a miracle 🤣🤣

Eurgh! Try to rest and recharge your batteries as much as possible until the course starts (even with the potential house stress). I hope it will be totally worth it and bring you much enjoyment and improvement though.

Ah I love a 90s lyric!!!
Even just sorting the logistics for starting the course is proving stressful for various (very boring) teasons. Im comforting myself that ill be so busy ill have no time for spending money!.
Life feels a bit like an never ending game of Piggy in the Middle of which I am always the pig. Talk about being the Sandwich generation.

Runaround Sue - Dion
A return to the 60s tonight as at the moment I seem to be running round like a headless chicken, not knowing my a!@÷e from my elbow 😂
I managed a NSD today but mainly because I forgot my purse- tbh I haven't had time to spend any money as I haven't blooming stopped although I will need petrol tomorrow.
Regular loan payment has gone out and mentally I did my usual internal karate chop (Miss Piggy style) as it steps a month further towards being paid off. I did have a nosey at what my bank would offer me rate wise if I consolidated the cards onto it and that has dropped by 2.9% to 10% and a lower monthly repayment (currently I pay £417 on the loan and £420 on the CCs) of £570. Massive downside is that's over 7 years so 13k interest so perhaps not 😆😅 Old me would have jumped at that though whereas now I am very reluctant to make quick money decisions - I've made many of my past mistakes with quick, rash and ill thought through moments.
I did open another savings account pot today that's labelled Debt Busting on my app. I have redirected all my "save the change" automated payments to this and am going to try and allocate some specific monies towards overpayments from here. Separating my money out works so much better for me and although I've been earning extra it seems to all just disappear before I realise and nothing is getting overpaid other than nicely rounded up DDs (can't stand DD with pennies I like nice Round Numbers) so I'm hoping this will help more.

Shakermaker - Oasis
Chosen tonight as I have been moving and shaking some life stuff today - sometimes things just won't happen unless you spring into action as my (gently aging) parent is now finding out 😂
Never did make it to the petrol station so that will have to definitely be a job for tomorrow but otherwise another NSD unless you count adding to the online grocery shopping order.
I am trying not to be impatient for this months payments to go out (so the debt goes down) as life moves far too quickly as it is. Currently juggling a parent and yoofs moving up to secondary school has hit me like a wet kipper round the face tbh and ive always been super resistant to change at the best of times.
Still realising I managed to get back on track last month with no CC usage was a huge boost. And im still resisting the consolidation loan tempting as it may be.
Shake along with meeEeeee as Oasis sang - shaking this debt right down!Nov/Dec 24 £39 564
