Incredible to find £79 of lost change! It is important to be realistic when budgeting. If you make things too tight it can be disheartening when the plan doesn’t work out 100%. I tend to overestimate future spends and put any underspends to savings, which gives one a little boost!

Should I stay or should I go - The Clash
what a busy old day. Ready for my pit this evening I can tell you.
After work I managed to get to the summer fayre, dutifully spending my 20ps from the Lost Shrapnel pot and the obligatory coffee from the PTA stall (although something stronger would have been fantastic if inappropriate!) Luckily we did not come home with the enormous stuffed teddy much to yoofs disappointment (although NOT mine)
Youngest yoof has been dropped off for his weekend camping, and I did get him a Maccies on the way as he had been too busy manning his stall at the fayre to eat.
This weekends mission is to decide what I'm doing job wise for definite. Pros and cons to both options but I guess the main things are what works financially and which job I prefer / can i bear to leave one for the other full time. It's a rare thing to find a job you love (well the majority of the time!) and rarer still to have 2 that fill that criteria. And before you ask yes both jobs require a car and a fair amount of driving 🤣Nov/Dec 24 £39 564

Can’t help you with the job, but you can take your old £1 coins to your bank and swop them for shiny new ones …..Sealed pot challenge 822

Huge bears are hard to find a place for. My mother put my name in to win one about twenty years ago. Ended up in my sister's collection of bears that come out at Christmas time. I also was given another that ended up at a local community center as the story time bear - he comes out when they are ready for story time to tell the children to gather around. I still have one - but I am not sure who to inflict pass it along too - probably in my will when they can't object to me. This one is almost as big as me.2

You could almost see all the kids excitement when it came to the huge bear draw and all the adults thinking "please no!" Im terrible with soft toys, i cant bare to give them away (think ive watched too much Toy Story over the years) and im a sentimental old fool.
Today I have family visiting so won't be a NSD but aiming to keep costs low. For some odd reason I've no appetite for the pub this weekend (wonder if I'm ill!) so won't be suggesting that but likely a local museum and but of sight seeing and catching up.Nov/Dec 24 £39 564

I'm glad you are still posting. Hints and tips and suggestions are great but judging and criticising by folk on other boards is not helpful. We are all perfectly capable of our own negative self talk.Remember that you've changed your money management mindset and your spending habits which is a great achievement!3

Wow an amazing amount in the cash pot. Hope you can exchange the defunct currency at the bank. When I first started a diary on here many years ago someone suggested I rent out to a lodger my DS’s old room that I’d just refurbished into a gym to save on gym fees. Really 🤔😠 Thankfully most comments on the boards are constructive and well intentioned.
You can take on board suggestions but in the end you need to do what’s best for you.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3 -
Thanks everyone xx
I often see suggestions of a lodger on other forums (not so much here tbh) and I often think no sane person would wish to lodge in my mad house 🤣🤣 I think it probably works well for some people but increasingly I'm a person that needs their own space.Nov/Dec 24 £39 564

I had a super song suggestion today but its gotten so late that I've forgotten it! I will update properly tomorrow as I think I need a bit of telly in bed to drop off to but what a lovely (and low spend day) today has been.Nov/Dec 24 £39 564

running up that hill - Kate Bush
well that was a busy few days but I'm pleased to report relatively low spends (coffee and cake for 2 when out) considering we had visitors for a few days. Managed to feed 8 - 10.people from stores (twice!!!) although I may need restock a few bits this week but overall I was pleased all things considered.
Still being super careful as MOT day is looming like Dooms Day and the 3 new tyres utterly decimated the car maintenance fund which.i had saved and there will.be the mot and new pump to pay for (trying not to use EF but likely will have to dip into it due to the tyres). Trying to be cautious with petrol too although much of my mileage is work related and the less miles I do the less I can claim back next month so double edged sword.
The one thing I can control is personal spending and I've set myself a little challenge of massively reducing the socialising spending I frequently do this month. I am working this coming weekend so wouldn't go out anyway and in a few weekends time I've a date with friends for a garden meet up so hopefully achievable. Initially I was going to throw any money not spent at CC2 but it's likely this may need to restart car maintenance fund.
But all regular payments have gone out and things are back heading in the correct, downwards direction so on I plod. Currently standing at £35,132.90 vs £39 563(starting point) and still.pondering over cashing in my investments/savings........Nov/Dec 24 £39 564
