Breathe - The Prodigy
Some days I just have to remind myself to keep breathing 😂 I was really shattered last night so went to bed early sober (whilst it seemed everyone else in the world was still partying) and having woken up early with a clear head it seems like a good decision. Just enjoying a cuppa in the early morning quiet sunshine before I get up for work.
Another personal NSD day (that's 3 out 3 for May!) although I did get petrol out the petrol pot. Ive had a new heavier set of dumbells sat in an online shopping basket for the last 4 days whilst I ponder about buying them - one of my side hustles hasn't paid for last weekend yet and I have 2 small paying things this coming week so I might wait til they pay before I decide.
Everyone else here had a good day whilst I was busy grafting away - lots of free activities happening locally this weekend and youngest has a free youth social this afternoon for one of his musical hobbies which he is super excited about.
Mechanic mate has worked out what's wrong with my car (although he's currently on a beach abroad) and reckons he can sort it when he gets back from his jolly and the temporary relief I felt was amazing. Although the car and money stress seems to be EXCELLENT for my waist line as I tried on my teeny tiny shorts yesterday (my more reliable measure of weight gain than the scales) and they blooming fit so that was another Brucie Bonus.
Last day at work then 3 days off 🥳 what's the betting it'll rain from tomorrow onwards!!!!

leave a light on for me - Belinda Carlisle
well that was a very busy work weekend - ended up doing 2 hours over yesterday which i will have to try and take back in the next few weeks if I get chance as time owing wont get paid. I was so tired last night and after a home workout I just collapsed in a heap.
However another personal NSD! 4 out of 4 for May 🤣 nearly caved and stopped to grab something to eat but sailed past the turning for the shop and ended up skipping lunch altogether. Those dumbells are still sat waiting in an online basket too.
I think I shall have to do the Credit card shuffle this month for my own nerves - one 0% offer is advertised as ending in may and Ll@yds have text to say theirs is also ending this month .... pressure tactics maybe but I don't have the nerve to sit it out til Aug when I know i shall need it 🤣
Aiming for another NSD today - hopefully potter round the garden with a beer in hand today. Still waiting for gym rebate and side hustle to pay from last Saturday but I also won 20 quid in the local pub 100 club on Saturday. All adds up!!
Have a great day everyoneNov/Dec 24 £39 564

All Good Things (come to an end) Nelly Furtado
Proper 90s throwback tonight.
the band I play with always say before our last song "all good things come to an end ..... so we will continue " . Today was the end of my NSDs (boo!) but it was inevitable and it could have been worse - £30 of gravel for a garden project (which should last a good few years) so not totally worthless.
DH and I did pop out for a few pints but opted for the local social club who were selling off cider after a cider festival for 2 quid a pint so a very cheap afternoon out 🤣 He was a cheap date and i told him so several times haha! Food was a bbq at home so nothing spent there and the yoofs enjoyed it a lot.
I am starting to wonder how much EF I really need - I'm still saving 250 into my personal one and that stands at £1700 and we have a joint one now at £2000 which is more than it's ever been. I did wonder if I need to be brave and just save 200 for myself and really start to knuckle down and add extra against the debt. It's tricky as my gut says SAVE SAVE SAVE but in terms of the CCs I feel I'm not really making much progress and my ultimate disaster would always be my car going wrong (which to replace would be vast amounts I could never hope to save realistically)
Still I'm feeling brighter than I have and desperately trying to not miss stuff ive given up. Every time I stay in budget though I give myself a small inside high 5 because this is such progress.
I'm still here and still carrying on, not given up just yet!!Nov/Dec 24 £39 564

Well done on the NSDs! I never have those, well maybe one or two a month if I have a wfh day and don't have to do a top up shop.
And awesome car news! fingers crossed your mechanic mate being right.July 2024 £12,150 Aug 2025 B/Card £6,300, N/West £1,770, Halifax £1,182, Klarna £568, Sports Trip £335, Very £122 & HMRC GONE!!!! Total £10,2762 -
Fingers crossed for your car.
Re your personal emergency fund; could you use some of the money to pay a lump sum off your credit card and then keep some back in case your car needs further work? It does seem sensible to have some money put aside for unexpected repairs as your car has had a couple of issues recently and having money available won't mess up your monthly budget. I know you have the joint EF but it is the issue with your car that I feel needs taking into consideration. I had a car that had one problem after another and it was a worry about what else might go wrong, so I do sympathise.
Just a sugestion; in the future, I'd probably keep saving until the fund reached a certain amount and then I would pay a lump sum off the debt and then continue saving. This way there would be some savings to fall back on, if needed, and progress would be made with debt reduction.
Good luck.

I'd say that your EF is big enough for now, and you could send larger payments to the CCs in future. However, if they are at 0%, then you'd be better off continuing to save anything above the minimum and then paying off a lump sum at the end of the deal. (That said, I just prefer to pay down the debt as I don't like seeing it)."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Do the Hustle - Van McCoy
or as I like to sing "do the shuffle"
My nerve failed me and I've started shuffling stuff around for the 0% deals. I've tried to be a bit savvy so the odd smaller transfers I've done before I have left alone so they can start to disappear within the 0% period which hopefully will make me feel a bit better 🤣 Still thats 12 months peace of mind that everything is on 0% and things hopefully will look rosier this time next year.
One regular payment went out today so that's another 100 quid off that card but obviously the small gain there will be wiped out by BT fees elsewhere initially. Ive decided to keep saving for now and putting some littler payments towards the CCs when I can with the opportunity to chunk some bits off as and when.
My little brain is a bit fried today as we have a busy few weeks ahead which require some logistical planning to make sure everyone gets to where they need to be and at the right times. On top of work and an extra weekend of work it's been a bit of a headache trying to sort it all out.
Being a grown up is hard work sometimes!
