Well done for getting below £35.5! It's so satisfying reaching those mini targets."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

Running Up That Hill - Kate Bush
Ooof the Pay Day God's didn't time it well with Easter this year did they 🤣 Still a week to go and the lovely long Easter weekend is here.
Having worked most of last week as usual and as I am working 2 days of the holiday weekend we decided to use some of the savings for a family day out on one of our joint days off. Weather forecast was decent for yesterday so we went for it and whilst yes you could argue we could have spent that money differently, everyone had the most fabulous time. I will never be a person to use the line "making memories" on social media but the youngest said "I have had the BEST day". Even the teen came and had a fantastic time and to me this was really lovely - they are a great kid but like all teens not always the most engaging in family time these days (although did also come on Weds on meet up with extended family too) and when you read stories along the lines of the show "Adolescent " it made me feel very grateful for what I have.
Today will be a Gardening Day and DH is in agreement with me that as its the end of the month and budget is tight there will be No Pub Trip this weekend. Don't all die of shock! We did order in some beers to have at home instead, and if the weather is OK, probably have a bbq too. I have tasked the Yoofs with a mini garden project to make me something I'd like from materials we already have so lets see how they get on 😅 We do need some gravel for a little part of the garden but that can wait til after pay day - in the past I'd have shoved this on the CC tbh but there's no rush so it can and will wait.
On the bad news side my car may need a new sensor (big sigh) but Car Mate is on the case and hopefully will do this next weekend (after pay day) so might not be much saving going on next month but let's see.
Hope everyone is having a good long weekend and if you're working (like I will be from tomorrow!) hope its not too bad

Oh in the excitement of our day out I forgot to update on the money front 🤣
Dh and yoof went to the bank this week to get him a Youth account and ended up changing our joint account to pay less monthly charge and improve the savings interest rate but still keep the account benefits we use. I was pleased he is still with me on the Budget Money front.
Ive also had a rebate from Vodafone for ending my Very Expensive contract with them - £23.59 in fact - this has been squirreled away to help towards clearing CC4.
I'm still debating whether next month to do a CC Shuffle for the Virgin offer - it's not the greatest length of time but it's on the table. Saying that my credit score has gone up as i owe less than 50% on my overall balances vs credit available although the balances are still over 50% - this is my fault as I like everything altogether as much as possible and not all spread out. Whatever I don't clear from cc4 I shall transfer to a 0% balance.
Wedding booking has been accepted so that should make up for the current lack of overtime booked in July and a good few paying gigs lined up in June, Sept.and October. Should have 2 side hustles next week so another extra 30 quid towards my car.Nov/Dec 24 £39 564

Glad you had a lovely day out. I get paid last day of the month - it feels like a LONG way away!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1

@jwil hello lovely! I always tank at this point in the month 🤣 so I like to read back on here to remind myself this is my usual monthly "blue" moment.
It's a shame about no pub but they have put their prices up this week and years ago when we slipped into a weekly pub visit habit it was £3.60 a pint. £5 makes me suck my teeth in a bit especially if 3 of us go (even with a soft drink!) But I do love the social side of it.Nov/Dec 24 £39 564

I should add I totally understand why the prices have gone up (I do like the landlord) but makes a few pints into an unrequired expense this weekend when I got some cans from the supermarket for a tennerNov/Dec 24 £39 564

Thanks @Cara_ it really does all count!
Today's song in honour of Easter Sunday is Chocolate (choco choco) by Soul Control.
I apologise if you have never before had the pleasure of this incredibly cheesy song that reminds me of kids discos and coordinated dance moves lead by kids entertainment staff🤣 Just wait til we get to Agadoo!!!
Minimal to report this weekend other than low spending tbh. I tasked the family with gardening and making things out of stuff we either already had or could scrounge which has been good fun and also cheap 😅. Good for their creativity!
I've worked today (hello enhanced overtime pay) but the big money will come from working tomorrow as it's BH. Work have already begged me to cover Christmas day this year for triple time although I am a bit reluctant. I seem to be working an awful.lot recently but I have got an entire week off for may half term and I think I really will need it.
Early night for me but I hope everyone is having a lovely long weekend off (not jealous AT ALL!!)Nov/Dec 24 £39 564

I've had "drink water and mind my business" stuck in my head all evening. I'm not sure if swapping it out for Choco Choco would be better or worse 🤔
