Roll the woodpile down Bellowhead
Chosen this one today as I am on a roll 😂
Another planned regular payment went today plus the minimum payment on that pesky balance on CC4 - in true MSE style I decided to pay an additional amount off it as I really don't like messy untidy balances. That's another 119 quid paid off whoop whoop and another nibble at CC4 balance which now stands at £380.
I'm most excited at the prospect of my CC usage dropping to below the 50% mark this month (what a thing to get excited about!) I would like to see if I could try and up payments to the CCs by £100 or 150 a month - but at the same time I want to be realistic.
Today was a NSD spent in the garden in the sunshine and tonight I need an early night after last night's tremendous gig.

I have percentages for each of my debts colour coded on my spreadsheet! Ha! I'm just aiming for 75% at the moment but just about there on all but one of the CCs.
I like the sound of a tremendous gig! I'm glad you had a good evening.Debts 04/01/25 02/08/25

Hahah it was truly tremendous! A band I really loved back in the early 2010s but who split during covid and just got back together.
Normally we'd have stopped over but we decided with our new way of thinking to drive it. DH did treat me to a tshirt as we didn't stop over.
In terms of my additional 300 quid this month that I didn't have a plan for , I have put 100 of this into the summer holiday pot (I am determined we are not going to put the balance on a CC!!) but have left 200 in a separate savings pot incase of unexpected school holiday spends (rather than raiding the EF pot). I'm going to try not to spend this unnecessarily and whatever I don't spend will go towards CC4 and the £380 balance. I could move this to one of the other cards to 0% but with a bit of determination I could clear that quite quickly and tbh I don't really want the other balances going up - one of them is so close to being under 50% of the balance available it seems a shame to push that back up and I almost need the reminder that Careless Spending Costs Money. Kicking it down the road wont learn the lesson of not to do it again!Nov/Dec 24 £39 564

Good luck with your journey - I only came to comment on this because I love Kelly's Heroes!
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

the sound of silence - Simon and Garfunkel
Hello darkness my old friend ....... chosen today as an unexpected visitor popped up - a good old anxiety attack out of the blue and knocked me sideways a bit. Hopefully, like an unwanted house guest, it won't hang about too long. I had hoped these were a thing of the past and I've no idea what on earth triggered it. Attempted.to distract my way out of it with some gardening, cleaning and work for one of my side hustles.
Today did bring another unanticipated thing (is unanticipated a word? I'm never quite sure) as I hadn't expected today to throw up the need for a hygienist appointment for eldest yoof - these are not covered in his dental plan and has to be paid in advance. In the past I'd have put this on a CC but didn't, partly because i didnt have the b@gger in my day to day wallet to use 😂 but this is precisely what the EF is for right? So I just moved some balances around and paid with actual real money. Sadly NOT CHEAP at 100 qui but needs must.
Tomorrow should be a lighter spend day (it blooming should be anywa!!). - hopefully a day out with a picnic but I may need a coffee and may treat the yoofs to an icecream...... I shall try to resist as my waistline is not shrinking sadly (I'm defo blaming time of life) and it really needs to.
Off to read all the other (more wonderful!)diaries before I attempt to get some sleep - I could do without a restless night!

Thanks @jwil much better day today thank goodness, always horrible when it hits and i never really know how long it might last for (worst was for many months a few years ago, dark days indeed).
Had a really lovely day with the yoofs and although it wasn't a NSD I had anticipated the ice cream and drink spend so didn't get that dreaded sinking feeling when we saw the kiosk.
One of my (many) side hustles came good tonight and there will be 100 quid coming my way this week from 2 gigs earlier this year. Also been asked if i would do a wedding in the summer - inevitably I will say yes 🤣 although these tend to be quite stressful and I feel the pressure as there's no margin for error, really isn't good if you mess up someone's big day.
Must sleep as early start and back at work tomorrow (boo)Nov/Dec 24 £39 564

Glad you are feeling better. I also suffer with anxiety so know how horrible it is."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

Someday I'll be Saurday Night Bon Jovi
sorry for going awol - it's always at a weekend! And this past one was quite full on and a little heavier on the budget and waistline than I'd intended. No takeaways but some pints and bbqs due to the lovely weather. Atleast next weekend I'm working so that'll stop any spending in its tracks.
I'm quite glad I kept that bit extra money back for the holidays as I have used it more than I has anticipated but the last of this months planned CC money has just gone out so I've achieved this month's aim of breaking below the 35.5k mark 😁
I do think I need to shift that pesky rogue £380 to one of my interest free balances as its now back up to £393 due to interest grrr. Lesson Truly Learnt Lzzy and I won't be making that mistake again.
Hope all is well in everyone else's worlds.Nov/Dec 24 £39 564
