Good morning chums ,DD has gone off to Craft club then going out for lunch with a friend so I am in pottering mode today ,just me and the two dogs.
Bless her shes such a lovely lass, I got home last night from Newport after my nice afternoon and didn't actually go upstairs until around 10.00 pm. I went into my bedroom and she had stripped and changed the bedding and washed and dried the stuff that came off, and had found my pretty bed set in the airing cupboard and hooverd and even done the ensuite for me as she said she knew having been unwell it was worrying me that I really wasn't in housework mode for a few days
So my bedroom was sparkling, it a pretty large one so it must have taken her awhile, plus the ensuite, and it was such a nice treat and I slept like a log last night first decent sleep I've had for a week.
Today I shall potter in the kitchen and do some decluttering there, as I know we have several drawers that need sorting out. We get along so well, and never get in each others pockets but both her and my son-in-law are there if I need them and I still have my independance.
We have one of my grandsons coming this weekend with his girlfriend and we've not met her yet so I'm looking forward to meeting her. My DGS Henry is a lovley young man, but if he's bringing a girl home, he must be keen as he's never done it before. Her name is Jade and shes very pretty as he sent us a photo of her.
Right the kettle is calling me so it must be time for coffee for me, and as they have been good a small biscuit for the dogs. More Rain is forecast later so I'm quite glad I'm indoors in the warm
onwards and upwards chums

Hi all, lovely lunch yesterday with friend and her son we went on holiday with but haven't seen for a few months. Left the house at 11.30 and got home at 6.30 as we were chatting and completely lost track of the time and then got caught in the rush hour traffic but it was worth it 😁. 1 present delivered but balanced by one coming back home 😂. Not much done when I got home but as today is recycling bin day I did the rounds of the house bins to check what needed emptying and the bathroom bin, kitchen bin, bedroom recycling, kitchen recycling and lr recycling were emptied and the wheelie bin was put out. I am trying to organise a painting of my Dsis dog to be done. I have a friend who does them from photos, he is 18 today and really can't last much longer so I thought it would be nice but it's all depends if we have a half decent photo of him to use 😁.
Not got a list of things to do today yet but I have some vague ideas so I had better get weaving and get something done 😂. The top of the gas cupboard is a proper mess so I will start there and see how far I get 😂
Hugs to everyone who would like one

1667 kitchen recycling

Take care everyone

I use this liquid - need to be careful about drips!suzeesu2000 said:
Washed and dried the white towels today. Been trying to find something along the lines of Reckits Blue but having no luck. I found a liquid one that’s popular in USA where they use top loaders that can fill and have the laundry sitting for a while, but nothing suitable for a UK front loader. I shall keep looking.

I am afraid I can't be doing with dingy whites, that's just not in my make up. And, since decluttering the airing cupboard, I only possess two sets of towels, it will benefit me to keep them looking their best.Have decluttered some packaging from a parcel this morning already and am in the process of decluttering money as its bill paying day....the noise you can hear is me sobbing! Happy that I've paid the last council tax instalment as we have overpaid every month.London_1you do right by staying indoors today - although I love winter, it's pretty miserable out there today.have a good one all xx

Hi
@suzeesu2000 I use washing soda, either soak in a bucket then wash as normal or put it in the soap draw of the front loader and it is very reasonably priced, available in all major sm, usually in the bottom shelf 😂.
Take care everyone10 -
- Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
- Concerted effort to sort out sleep patterns - Realistic targets: bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 10:00 a.m
- Continue dealing with mail & email on a daily basis
- Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
- Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
- Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Rained all night into Tuesday a.m. We have had some light rain but the strong wind has dried the pavements & roads. Forecast high of 14°C (feeling 5° colder), low 11°C & winds of 16mph gusting up to 35mph. I started writing the Christmas cards last night & have finally finished all the ones to be posted. All addressed & stamped ready to be dropped in the postbox together with December birthday cards ( have one on 23rd, one on 25th & one on 28th 😥)
I have also finished knitting another hat which just needs to be sewn up & will then need to drop off all the knitting (4 hats + 3 hat & scarf sets) at CS this week. Now for a bit of cheerleading starting with posts dated the 8th:
Liverpool_Anne, excellent decluttering over the last few days 👏 Well done on getting the coat rack sorted 👏 even if it should have been OH who did it 😉 Hope you had a lovely lunch especially as you had an hour long drive to get to the restaurant 😊 This “Met some friends for brunch yesterday and I discovered one of them is the organiser for "home" stuff for her church for their project to help homeless people setting up. She will take any bedding, odd cups and plates, glasses, cutlery etc as well as the suitcase 😁. This has made me so happy as I now know what to do with quite a few things. Hopefully I can get some stuff out to her this week.” is such a great project & what a wonderful cause 😇 I did have a rueful grin plastered over my face as I read This “sometimes Mums take liberties, they forget what it was like to have children around, plus you are really busy and there are only so many hours in the day. I remember my Mum complaining because I didn't have any nets and she didn't like it, so I got nets and put them up then she complained that I hadn't cleaned the Windows 😂. She lived up the road and I spent hours every week caring for her garden, decorating for her and doing the heavy cleaning while working full time 😂. Sometimes you just can't win 😂”
Great decluttering Willowtree222 👏 especially This “I am so relieved to have found a home for the left over Christmas tree and foliage. I asked DD's scouts group if they would like it for a wreath making activity tomorrow night and she was already thinking of doing it and on the hunt today for resources. Problem solved for both of us!” 😊
Wednesday2000, how lovely that your dog is having a holiday 😊 Hopefully the building work won’t take too much longer 🤞
Floss, wow a lot of work booked in for the first part of 2026 🤩 Hopefully there won’t be too much disruption 🙏
GrannyKate, sounds like you had a lovely time in Finland 🥹 Any chance of a picture of your ‘multicultural Christmas tree’ 🙏 Also looking forward to seeing a few photos of Helsinki 😊 Sounds like Sox was very happy to see you 🥹
Green_hopeful, such a great cause 😇 I will have to investigate & see if there is a similar project in my area 🧐 Great work clearing up leaves 👏 9 builders bags of leaves & chippings 😧
suzeesu2000, I was shocked at the price too 😳 Excellent decluttering 👏 Hopefully you will find a product for brightening your whites laundry 🤞
canvascamper, well done on the sales 👏 Always nice when money comes in rather going out 😊
vulpix, loved This “Went to see my Mum and she had a visitor, her Auntie. Yes my 91 year old Mum's Auntie. She is I think about 6 years older. My Nana was one of the oldest of 14 and Mum's Auntie is one of the youngest.” 🥹 My DH is only 2.5 years older than one of his nieces 🙂 Great work putting up the mirror & some pictures 👏 Fingers crossed that your plan comes together & you can get the other pictures on the walls 🤞A pity about needing to unpick the blanket 😞 but it would only annoy you if you left it 😉 Even though I know the hat pattern backwards & forwards I quite often make a mistake, don’t notice & then have to undo several rows of knitting 😞
Flagging now so will post & come back later. I do hope that everyone is staying safe, warm & dry 🙏

Not doing a lot today but think that is post travelling lethargy. I popped out this morning intending to get hearing aid batteries from hospital but gave up because I couldn't park at all. Somebody told me then that I could get them at my surgery so I went in there and receptionist gave me two packets. She said they are delivered intermittently but I was lucky today as a box came in this week. I understand I can email the hospital to get them sent by post. Weather here is foul wet and and windy.
I got some fuel and went in hospice to get some more Christmas cards from their shop. I also bought a jigsaw and a fun tea cosy. Then I got a tree from local garden centre. They sawed the bottom off for me and put it in car. Only half cost to pay as I had two gift cards that covered much of the cost. Tree is in garage to dry off and soak up some water from bucket. Hopefully I can put it up later in week. Decorations are already down from loft. I will post tree picture when done. Today Sox is sleeping on my bedroom chair - he has been there at least 4 hours without moving - another new sleeping spot. He is not impressed with weather.
Unexpected bonus last night as lady turned up to buy my large oak wardrobe - I have had it in garage since I moved in as too big for this house. I was worried about it as cardboard and wrapping only kept the damp off a bit. Good local maker and she was pleased with it. £150 for Christmas coffers. dDIL sells things for me on line. Dressing table just delivered from Mr D - box a bit bashed but he took photo just in case inside damaged.
All holiday washing done and drying in kitchen. I will download some Finland pictures. Not much else achieved although I am enjoying a few quiet days. I had hoped to finish Christmas shopping this week if I can.
1183 Holiday decluttered, some spending but not too much, unpacked and put away
1184 Oak wardrobe sold
1185 Packaging and wrapping from wardrobe in recycling
1186 Two spare pieces of carpet from garage given to van driver to protect his new van when loading/unloading wardrobe.
1187 Various clothing items including uncomfortable trousers did not return from Finland
1188 Hearing aid batteries obtained - I was down to just one
1189 Christmas tree purchased and garden gift cards used up

@suzeesu2000 i use ‘natural bleach’ we get it from our refill shop. This is what she says.“A Natural Bleach, also known as oxygen bleach or Percarbonate of Soda. This is a safe and non-toxic, biodegradable alternative to harsh chlorine bleach. When dissolved in water it releases oxygen which acts as a powerful stain remover, deodoriser and disinfectant.
It breaks down harmlessly to oxygen, water and sodium carbonate. This miracle product brightens both whites and coloured fabrics and prevents them from yellowing. It’s great at removing organic stains like tea and coffee, fruit juice, food sauces, grass stains, pet stains, blood and red wine. Natural Bleach is also a great alternative to chlorine bleach in the bathroom. Dissolve in warm water to safely clean and disinfect the loo and clean drains. Also, use to easily and safely clean and bleach sinks, baths and general household cleaning.”
i think it’s concentrated hydrogen peroxide. I used it on a mattress that looked like one of the kids had spilled tea and everything came out.12
