Mrs_Salad_Dodger., thanks for medal.
Quiet day today.Lovely phone chat with my half niece, we are the same age and went to school together. Been friends for a VERY VERY long time. Then had another lovely chat with my DSIL, DHs sister. The main topic of conversation was the prices of food.Did some tidying up on laptop and sorted a finances folder out.
Dinner was all from the freezer.
Sadly, I have had to do some shopping. Delivery is Sunday. As well as the things we very much needed, I have snagged a good few offers from both Iceland and Tesco. Will see my pantry shelves very much filled for winter months and saving money too.Hope you’re all ready for a great weekend, supposed to be the last dry and sunny one with wet, cooler weather forecast for next week. As a lover of winter and autumn, I can’t wait. Oh, heard on Classic FM radio that we should be seeing some stunning leaf colours this autumn due to the abundance of warm dry weather this year. We shall see. Autumn is when Mother Nature wears her prettiest clothes. Love it.

I have no idea where the time is going these days. I just seem to be getting going with whatever I’ve decided to do in a day then it’s time to stop!!!
Thank you for my medal @Mrs_Salad_Dodger. 😁 The paperwork should have arrived at it’s destination so I now wait to see if I’ve done it correctly or if they reject it. I’m just so happy that it’s been sent and isn’t sitting there staring at me.
@weenancyinAmerica I usually use the little pinch nail clippers as I can get a couple of claws done at a time without too much bother but these 2 claws, one on each front paw, have become very thick plus, both cats are longhaired and you can barely see the claws for the fluff. But, I’m pleased to report that Jewel is a much, much happier cat. By the next day I could touch her paws without the slightest murmur. I on the other hand have a sore hand where she bit me while I was holding her while the vet was having a look and a prod.
@Vulpix Yippee! I know we’ll all be keeping everything crossed for the 30th but it’s something concrete and not leaving you dangling. 🤞🤞🤞
@GrannyKate – Builders/workmen! They’re a law unto themselves and then add to that the heating. So stressful, hugs. 🤗
Hugs 🤗 also to everyone who’s not feeling 100% as well. Sorry I can’t remember everyone individually.
I think that this dank weather is quite depressing. It’s not yet hibernation time but it’s no longer summer. A cool dry autumn of colourful dry leaves is uplifting but the rain and 100% cloud cover here is S Wales is a bit of a drag. That said, I count myself lucky; a few miles down the road people had their houses inundated when culverts collapsed/blocked. 😱
Today, 7 flattened cardboard boxes, 4 bags of paper/cans/bottles and 3 black bags which included the last of the old underlay from the landing carpet were collected by the refuse men. I’d like to say that I can see a difference but… Well there is a little glimmer but so much more needs to go.
I’ve been very lucky with L1dl veg/fruit boxes over the last couple of weeks and I also made a start on clearing out the greenhouse. This had resulted with rather a lot of fruit and veg everywhere so today was a cooking day. Curried parsnip soup, about 6 portions, oven roast vegetable mix which condensed down to 5 large portions and 12 small bottles of tomato sauce have been made. Written down it doesn’t seem much but most of the day has been spent chopping and cooking which has impacted on my back. So no going down the rabbit hole of genealogy tonight – I’m currently reading through Bishops’ Transcripts trying to spot possible ancestors. My family name is one that has evolved over the generations and has lots of variations on how to spell it. Frustrating but it’s great when you make a breakthrough. 😁
Much love to you all. Dxx

Read in a Victor Meldrew voice. I don't believe it ! I have broken my toe! For those of you who know me of old Quelle Surprise. Previously I dropped a boulder on my big toe, kicked the end of the bed , kicked the coffee table and this time kicked a glass bathroom scale. Bare feet of course. I have gaffa taped my throbbing blue toe to the next toe and am hobbling. Thank goodness there is very little packing left to do.
I managed to empty the remaining bits out of the kitchen to make up 2 banana boxes. What we are using is out on the worktop. Washing the inside of the pan drawers is a job for tomorrow. I used my toe as an excuse to crochet today. No gardeners world. I found myself watching Top Gear from 2005.
Recycled some plastic storage containers and a broken magnifying mirror. Also soft plastics for Tesco next time we go.

V I read that as you were using your toe as an excuse to play croquet. Unusual therapy for a broken toe i thought then reread 😆
Loved your new bracelet too

Morning all - quick post as this week was busy and didn't go as planned. Children all week but at least plastering is finished. Waiting on plumber now as floor in bedroom is definitely wet and presumably source of leak. No heating or hot water so I may be saving money as other wise I would have had heating on. It was my birthday yesterday - quiet day really as trip away with DS1 has had to be moved to late October. Long chat with DD last night. I need to start thinking about what I will take Scotland on 3 October - layers I guess. Not done much decluttering except money lately. Plasterer bill to pay and there will be a plumber now.
I did get out and do some shrub and plant clearing so filled garden bin up as soon as it had been emptied. On line meeting this morning. I have managed to do some family history off and on this week. Will get paint out to start painting bedroom but new plaster so several coats will be needed. I have curtains and curtain poles but need carpet, wardrobe and bed. They may have to wait until I return from Scotland. I did get the joiner to put up a batten for the curtain pole which saves DS2 to job.

More frogs to do today. DGD4 (13) is coming to help me with some vacuuming etc as I give her pocket money. She can help me change the bed as I find it very difficult to do on my own.2025 Decluttering Campaign 896/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

Good morning. Just a quick post as off to the doctors soon. Thursday was dining room. I swept and mopped so much dust up where DH had been cutting wood in there (still need to dust shelves) and sorted through a pile of paperwork that was sat on the side. 7cm shredded. The rest has had to go back on the side as the drawer it usually goes in is actually overflowing. Yesterday was a quick tidy around the living room as I've had DGD since lunchtime as DD1 is on nights.
Im up, showered and dressed. Dishwasher and washing machine on. DGD fed and dressed to come with me. Shes excited to go on the bus (think she's only been on one twice) im absolutely dreading it, sends my anxiety through the roof, but she wont manage the 30 minute walk each way.
Vulpix, I hope your toe is less painful soon.
Right better go.

Our plaster is dry!!!!! We have been waiting 5 weeks!!!!! It is still a dark pink!!!! Goodness knows how long it has been dry. Just goes to show never to go on looks alone. We hired an infrared heater to finish the drying process. " It will dry it in a day" the man. Said. 6 hours aimed at one wall and no change except the plug of the extension lead had got red hot! We left it in socket all night but can't remove it. It got so hot it seems to have welded itself in!!! We bought a damp meter after a friend suggested it and it turns out all of the plaster is very dry!!!!!! Everything seemed to be falling into place . We can start painting today.
Got home yesterday to discover an email from the company "making" our fire surround. Unfortunately they need to charge another £345 to get it to the Isle of wight!!!!!!! It is already late . I have organised fitter for Tuesday as they had formally said it would arrive on Monday!!!!!!!!!
I am having 2 large sofas bought over for £140 ponds so I know that it should be much more reasonable than that. £120 was already paid for delivery. My living room is going to look amazing and it is the very last room in our renovation project but when you have planned and saved for so long to get it just right it is really frustrating and annoying!!!!! ( garden will be the last thing)
So only patience being decluttered here at the moment but once the living room is completed I hope to be able to get back to decluttering in a big way!!! The house is really getting on my nerves. Downstairs rooms are a right mess . Can't find anything. Some of our shoes are in the shed to make room! All of our spare time will go into painting now until 29th when fingers crossed flooring is being fitted.
You all seem to be doing so well and my house is going backwards. Feeling a bit sorry for myself but it will be worth it in the end.
Still trying to get hold of a gas engineer to put a gas pipe under the floor boards and the plumber who took radiator out to come back and fit the new radiator.
