_Dolly_Rocker_ said:Anyone else really struggle with housework? I live alone so have no one to blame but myself but I just can't keep on top of it then before I know it every counter is cluttered, there's piles of clean washing all over the dining table, everything all needs done at the same time and my brain is like aaaaaaargh!Yes, I certainly really used to struggle until I had decluttered 50% of my junk! Now I've organised most things and will put things like clean washing in inconventient places like the arm chair I must sit in in the lounge, so I have to move it to the bedroom to be able to sit down, but I will leave clean washing on the bed which means I have to put it away to be able to use the bed! That seemed to be the only way to train myself and it's worked wondersI've also set before bed tasks like clearing and cleaning the kitchen dishrack, sink, surfaces & bin whilst loading the washing machine ready for the next washload, and cleaning the hand basin / checking the bath shower & loo - It's so much nicer to get up to a clean useable kitchen & bathroom
Don't get me wrong, it's taken me a few months to train myself
but now it's an automatic mindset
I am lurking on MSE just not got much time to post at the momentDecluttering galore in the back garden today. My large pine trees are being taken out as they are virtually dead & dangerous along with the hedges being pruned & cut. It will feel a little bare when done but at least I know the garden is safe for humand, wildlife & the girls: babyface & gorgeous Gorda to use
Both girls are doing great with their eating & health and back to tip top condition; which is a huge relief & they are absolutely full of it! Into absolutely everything with toys every where including the garden, so they've both been having the time of their lives & partying until they drop
Dashing off as tree men have just arrived - Wishing everyone a superb decluttering day xx Make the most of the wet weather to get those CBs full & ready to go!

Dolly rocker, I hate to get up to a mess or come home to a mess so before I go out or go to bed I at the very least tidy up. It stems from when I suddenly became a single Mum of 2 toddlers. If my house was clear my mind felt calmer. The house also looks cleaner if it's tidy! Now I consider it's like my job and I get the place ready for a handover of shift . Nobody want's to start work and begin with tidying up.
YBR, all's well that ends well. Hope you are all settled in your new house and job/ school.
I didn't sleep much last night. Spent the night torturing myself with every bad experience and mistake I have ever made!.. and doing that and feeling ill all day will help how?
Bah! need to get on and keep myself busy.
Vx

Good morning all just decluttered a big load of washing to the machine as the sun has finally appeared around 8.45 and even patches of blue sky I prefer to get the stuff on the line for a good blow rather than use the tumble dryer
We save that for when the winter sets in.even though there is only three of us plus Mikey with the wet weather this week it didn't take long for the washing basket to fill up. but fingers crossed two loads today should clear it
I'm off to Cowes tomorrow for a coffee morning and the annual 'jigsaw sale ' where I will pick up some for my winter stash hopefully everyone brings ones they have done and they are resold to raise funds for the charity.usually around a pound or so each so its a great way to raise some cash and get different ones for the cold winter afternoons when going out isn't on the menu ,especially if its icy. I have several that will be decluttered and I expect I shall buy a few to bring homeusually one in one out but last year I got five and when done passed them on with some others to my DGS Jack who is a teacher at a boarding school in Kent so the children there get to do them then they are again passed on to a charity shop in Tonbridge.
I also have a box of bits to go to the CS in Cowes and I'll restrain myself from buying anything ,although I may have a shufti at some of the towels as my DDs dogs get pretty messy on walks on the beach and in the woods in the winter, so we keep a stash in the boot of the car.
There is a CS there that does towels that are 'doggy ones' slightly old and washed out at around 50p a pop so more than good enough for the dogs paws. Her Westie loves to roll in the sand and being white he gets pretty covered in it.The greyhound just stands majestically whilst you wipe his feet its about the only bit that gets muddy as he is so tall the rest of his body is about 3 foot above his paws
Right time for a cuppa as the kettle's boiled Have a good day chums what ever you are doing and I hope you all get some sunshine for your washing

36/52 - TV given away on a freebie site. Still works but don't need a second one.
37/52 - cleaned out the tea/coffee cupboard and binned a number of years out of date tea (including some barley tea which I never tried).
38/52 - DH cleared out a bag of his old papers that his parents brought round as they were clearing out their old rooms.14 -
- Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
- Concerted effort to sort out sleep patterns - Realistic targets: bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 10:00 a.m
- Continue dealing with mail & email on a daily basis
- Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
- Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
- Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Thursday: DH was up early to have a bath. Apparently it has been raining although it was sunny when I got up at 11:15 Half an hour later it clouded over & got quite dark. Forecast high of 20°C, low 14°C , humidity 70%. DH left 12:10 for his last hand treatment appointment just as it started to drizzle 🙁 I will do some cheerleading whilst I drink my cuppa:
London_1, your weather on Wednesday sounds dreadful ☹️ but pleased to hear that you only got wet once 😮💨 Your knit & natter group sounds absolutely wonderful 🥹 & the topics you ‘natter’ about are so interesting. The 85 year old sounds like a real character ☺️ Fingers crossed the weather improves by Friday for your coffee morning in Northwood 🤞
Shame about the umbrella TC77 ☹️ although fairly standard that it would be the more expensive one that got ruined 😞 Sorry to hear This “……. looking round at what decluttering I can do qnd paralysed thinking of why I can't do any categories and all the justins.” My go to action is to write a list - no particular order just jotting down what I need to do. Sometimes as I am writing it becomes clear about where to start 🙂 Good luck 🍀
BlueJ94, sounds like you have caught the ‘Decluttering Bug’ 😉 Good luck with the sock sorting 🍀
TC77, the ankle sounds painful 😣 so please, please rest it 🙏🙏 I agree with Floss that perhaps now is the time to write your lists 😉
suzeesu2000, relieved to hear that your Mum “is doing OK” 😮💨 This “She sees more people than I ever do!” did make me laugh 🤭 Excellent decluttering 👏 & great work organising the charity collection for this afternoon 👏
TC77, not negative at all - just a bit down with “too many things in flux at the moment.” 🥺 & feeling overwhelmed as vulpix pointed out. Good news that the bed has been collected & you don’t have to wait until October 🙂
Lovely supportive post vulpix 🥹 Sounds like you not only had a wonderful time but were extremely lucky with the weather 😊 This “….. I am going to pack up the clothes in our wardrobes tomorrow. I just want to feel like something is happening.….” gives new meaning to living out of a suitcase 🙊 so please remember to leave out at least one change of clothes for you & MrV 😂 Fingers crossed that you get a moving date soon 🤞
I have caught up another page 🥳 & the sun is out in celebration 😉 Hope everyone is having as good a day as possible 🙂 See you later 👋

Managed to get two lines of washing dry and the slightly dampish bit are in the airer. Just got them in and there was a very quick shower which has now stopped
DD will do the rest tomorrow while I’m out in the morning
we have her in-laws arriving on Saturday for the day as they are on holiday in Lymington just across from Yarmouth I think Dd and her OH are going to take them to a cheese and cider do at Haven Street where the steam Railway runs as her ma-in-law loves old steam trains
I shall stay at home with the dogs as the Westie isn’t keen on crowded places or noise bless him
I shall be decluttering the sock and scarf drawers as I have far too many

Well the worlds little mischief makers have certainly been on my case this week😈 Had to book engineer to collect
mums wheelchair tomorrow as - goodness know how - a bit is missing so can’t be pushed.Gave the bathroom a deep clean this morning. Put new towels in and looks lovely now.
Upstairs all hoovered and tidy, being really strict on putting things away at once and not just dumping them til later
which, as we all know, never comes,
Everything is washed, dried and put away with the tiny bit of ironing planned for tomorrow.
Lovely charity shop men collected this afternoon as well.
Decluttered some horrid sausage making powders and potions today too.
Sold two items on eBay, one went today, other being collected tomorrow.Even managed to get DHs huge guitar box upstairs to go in loft.
Thats me for today. Thank goodness tomorrows Friday.
Have a good night all xxSaving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal
