2025 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD - The Joy of Decluttering

Hi all reporting in on a good day yesterday 😁.
Just lost a whole load of typing with the checking I am human thing again 😡. @Mrs SD I too thought this had been sorted out.
Spent a good while in the garden tackling the bamboo and various other things that needed chopping so the green bin was filled 😁. Counting as 4. @Mrs SD thanks for the suggestion about 15 mins sessions, I usually do 25 mins then have a 5 minute rest 😁
The post was sorted and the top of the gas cupboard cleared. OH's post which included 2 parcels was put on OH's couch which was dealt with resulting in a cardboard box, the lr recycling and the kitchen recycling x 2 being emptied 😁. The kitchen bin and bathroom bin were also emptied.
While sorting through my gift bags this morning looking for something suitable to deliver the baby blanket I remembered that I had posted 2 parcels last week that I hadn't counted using stash paper and packaging and cards so counting another 2 there. I am actually quite short of gift bags and wrapping paper that is for anything except christmas. The Christmas stuff is enough to keep me going for the rest of my life and will probably form part of my estate when I die 😂. Maybe I can ask for my coffin to be wrapped in it 😂.
I got 2 loads of washing on the line yesterday but they are still out as my hands were dirty and I asked OH to check them as it looked like rain, hence they got a final rinse on the line but they will be dry today 😁
@Vulpix know what you mean about not being able to support every deserving cause. I remember a phone call from someone soliciting for great Ormond street hospital. I explained that we have a children's hospital here and I support that. I made a decision when I retired that apart from 2 international charities I would only now support local charities. The thing that is starting to annoy me is that all the charities seem to want monthly direct debits now. Previously I might have been happy to throw some money in a tin and spread my donations over a raft of different charities now I have to limit them to those that still take cash. Having spent time in the past tin rattling for various causes I understand the problems with it but I do feel it puts a lot of people off making donations.
Also wanted to say if you need any help with the move I have a car available and am happy to help and I am quite good at car jenga, happy to move plants etc as I don't mind what goes in the skip on wheels as OH describes my car 😂. Wouldn't mind a look at the new house if you want to send me the link 😂
@florianatwobob thanks for the concotion ingredients, might give that a try 😁
@daisy_1571 yes exactly, it is totally irrational isn't it 😁
@BridgetTheCat I have to confess it is a long time since I owned a tyre pressure gauge, I just use the ones at the garage 😂
@QueenJess sometimes those fiddly little jobs give the best satisfaction, things that you notice and annoy you but never seem to get sorted, I have a long list of them, well done on sorting them out 😁
Right time to get weaving as I have a list of things to do today. I have caught up with all the posts but have forgotten what I was going to say 😂
Hugs to everyone who would like one

@QueenJess sometimes those fiddly little jobs give the best satisfaction, things that you notice and annoy you but never seem to get sorted, I have a long list of them, well done on sorting them out 😁I love my new cookbook storage shelves as they were previously haphazard all over the side and I was sick of looking at them everyday. My lamp in the living room covers a weird and useless space in the corner, but more importantly I can now use the living room with a lower level of light without always having to put the main lights on. Both things have made me very satisfiedDD is thrilled with her re-potted plant (and that it appears to be a mummy and baby now) and her storage baskets for all her dolls clothes. I even love a little holder so I can put my phone in the hallway when I get home rather than keep picking it up and moving it round. Hopefully will encourage less use of my phone as well. The small things can sometimes make a big difference.
I did go through my summer clothes earlier and yes, there was a reason I hadn't worn any of them! So off they go to Buy Nothing/charity. The area of my house that most annoys me is still the kitchen. I still haven't quite worked out overbuying of food (it is absolutely all used and never wasted, but we use less than I think and permanently need to keep on top of it all to get it used up). I probably still have a bit too much of other things as the drawers/cupboards feel a bit too rammed in. Anyway, cue a new challenge to eliminate 150 things from the kitchen including food, non-food, freezer, fridge etc. It ignores the usual churn of items we use all the time and I will count the things I got rid of yesterday as well. Again, no idea if that is the "right" number, but feels a big target to aim for. This is a longer challenge that will last several months and hopefully will encourage me to not overbuy..1 - plant (Buy Nothing)
2 - digital thermometer & instructions (Buy Nothing)
6 - surplus cardboard containers (recycled)
1 - label I don’t need (binned)

Still here, plugging away at the packing etc:Today DH started repointing the patio and path and got more than half done, so I swept it ahead, then severely pruned some spent Raspberry canes and tied in the new growth so they don't attack when he gets that far round! Part of the Garden shed has been packed into a large box, which was quite involved in terms of protecting the ends of garden forks etc from stabbing their way through the box. Also some decluttered planters have been collected.Decluttering awards 2025: 🏅🏅⭐️ ⭐️, DH: ⭐️ and one for Mum: 🏅12

@Liverpool_Anne if you need a little more welly a scrubby washing up sponge works a treat. My cupboards have a wood effect texture so it helps with the grooves.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Hello,
A very sad post today……. Pepper became ill suddenly on Sunday and couldn’t eat and anything she drank came straight back up. I tried my own vets yesterday first thing only to be told that no vets were on site and that I’d have to try the out of hours vet or call other vets. They weren’t even apologetic……. I called the out of hours who were more helpful but said it would be cheaper to try other vets. I ended up seeing 2 as one of them didn’t have an X-ray or ultrasound on site and this morning they found a 6cm lymphoma in her abdomen. We had no idea she was that ill and went downhill rapidly. We made the heartbreaking decision to put her to sleep …… hubby and I are devastated as you can imagine.
Rogan has been as good as gold and knows something is very wrong. He’s been very quiet and given us cuddles.

Muddy-Walker, I am so sorry sorry. We lost our Peppa (yep, she was named after that famous pig as spent her first day searhing for food and DH told her to stop being a pig and thag was it, she became Peppa) in a very similar way at Christmas. We had no idea she was poorly until she was very poorly. Sending love and hugs to you all. I hope Rogan is okay and doesn't find the change difficult xxLBM in April 17 - Starting card debt £33554

Good evening, it's been a bit busy here. I was on the go all day yesterday and don't feel like I achieved much. Today I rearranged my craft room/computer room and it is more efficient but it wasn't actually what I set out to do. It was done because I needed to move the printer as it was struggling to find a signal from the router. I also took ds to buy a new gaming mouse so that took a fair bit of time too. The smallest member of the household now comes when called, especially if shouted from the kitchen 😁
I have made myself a "to do" list for the rest of the week - it'll be interesting to see how much of it actually gets done. I've mostly stuck to finding 5 items a day to be removed or rehomed so the total so far this month is 45. I've just added the bookcase downstairs to the list of things to sort out but I doubt that I'll get round to it this week. It's not the books that are the problem, it's all the other "things" on the shelves that need putting away proberly or disposing of.. There are also two drawers at the bottom which are full of goodness knows what.
@charlies_tribe that beach photo is lovely
@QueenJess I overbuy food too, mostly when I'm stressed apparently as I haven't done it for ages but the week that we had to say goodbye to the cat was a revelation. Good luck with your "use it ups".
