2025 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD - The Joy of Decluttering

Hellooo..
Am definitely in for 2025.. This is going to be MY year in so many ways! Thanks MrsSD, you’re fabulous thread is worth its pages in gold..💐Have been lurking and reading as always, need to post more next year as it does help keep me in check..
Taking a hiatus from paid work after becoming exceedingly unwell in the summer, thankfully my wonderful OH is so supportive and we’re more of a team than ever before.
Discovered “Vinty” for selling (not just buying) and have done quite well with it, shall begin listing again in the new year. Accepted that there is far too much clothing in the house that doesn’t fit or they’ve simply been kept for sentimental reasons.. well, no more, out they go!
Hoping to also shed the gained weight from both illness and Menopause..
Book shelves need a thin out & more library visits taken instead, to prevent re-cluttering..
Just a few things to be going on with.. I don’t have a number of items to purge, just know that we’d like to move in the next 2 years and I absolutely refuse to move things we do not need!
Looking forward to reading everyone’s posts, they really do keep me inspired and enthused..
Here’s to a calm, kind yet productive 2025 🥳"There's a little witch in all of us"🔮🪬🧿DEBT FREE 06/2018Mrs SD’s Decluttering 2025 ⭐️ 🥇23 -
Hellooo thanks for the new thread. I've been listening to an audiobook called the year of less by Cait Flanders. It's worth the read or listen as it's motivated me to sort my spare room and clothes that are overflowing.
So far I have
Bagged up clothes for charity
Bagged clothes for rubbish
Bagged up 2 black bags of unwanted items that aren't worth donating or don't physically work
I've spent almost 2 hours doing this so far but I'm determined. My OH said to me "you do this every month, you fill the room ant then sit down to get rid but just make a mess" which is very true! So I'm determined, I mean business this time!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe boards and spending & discounts boards. 2024 was a disastrous year for me too. I definitely need decluttering - the house, paperwork, my brain. We may need to make the house wheelchair accessible. Right now it isn't even walking accessible in places. We have two large areas (garage and former garage stuffed with junk) and the living room has so many boxes in it, it looks like we are packing to move. This next month is going to be the important one to get things done, especially giant frogs that will eat me if I don't. I read everyday, but don't often post and haven't been counting what is going out as it takes too much time to list things. But I will try and be better about it this year.
Looking forward to following everyone's progress, even if I don't.27 -
Yes please and thank you so much for taking this on again.
The train sounds wonderfully well-appointed these days. I'll have to watch I'm not tempted to spend more time sampling the facilities than doing any decluttering!
I wasn't sure if there'd be a sparkling new thread, but I've already updated my signature to state my 2025 aims. These are:
2025 Declutter:
1 CONTAINER (box/bag/folder etc) per day; 0/365
1 AMPHIBIAN/REPTILE (minimum) per week; 0/52
WEIGHT I'll start with 25 lbs (though I need to lose more!) and see how it goes...🤔 0/25
All numbers are vague and flexible. I've belatedly come to realise that the very good advice to set specific goals doesn't actually work very well for me. If I don't reach the set amount I feel as if I've failed, become disheartened and then have to hype myself up again. So these are chilled out, non-threatening totals. 🙃
So Happy Decluttering all...A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!
CHALLENGES
2025 Declutter:
1 CONTAINER (box/bag/folder etc) per day; 50/365
1 FROG (minimum) per week; 6/52
WEIGHT I'll start with 25 lbs (though I need to lose more!) and see how it goes...🤔 0/25
2025 NSDs: 15 per MONTH - FEB 4/15; JAN 21/15
2025 Fashion on the Ration: (carried over from 2024) 10+66 = 76
2025 Make Do, Mend & Minimise No target, just remember to report!

Thank you @Mrs_SD for the shiny new thread.. I'd like to join you again on the decluttering journey, if I may. Even though I rarely post, I do read everybody else's contributions and feel that I am beginning to get to know you all as individuals. Most of my daily warblings appear on the Weekly Flylady Thread, which I joined more than ten years ago and where apparently I have become part of the furniture.
In 2022, whilst awaiting major heart surgery, I did a good declutter of the whole house within the space of 3 months. 2023 was my recovery year, with a lot of visits to the gym followed by a lot of rest and recuperation, leaving little time for very much else. By then I was very grateful for the fact that I had simplified and organised so thoroughly - it was a doddle to tell the people helping me with the housework and gardening whether I'd got the particular item they were looking for and where it (or a substitute) could be found. Last year I discovered Mrs SD's 2024 thread and have continued decluttering as and when I find things that we don't use, though far more slowly and haphazardly.
My aim in 2025 is to finally get all my family history records - paper, PC files, photos and other artefacts - sorted and properly catalogued, ready to pass on to my children and grandchildren, but I am too easily sidetracked, chasing elusive ancestors down genealogical rabbit holesI'd also like to declutter more books and CDs, clothes, ood paperwork, and household stuff. It all goes to make life easier, and I am far happier with fewer things to curate. I am also aware that one day in the not-too-distant-future I may have to downsize, and I want to be ready for it.
Cake is a great attraction for me, so you might sometimes catch sight of me on the EDT - always up for a chat!
May 2025 be a good decluttering year for us all.24 -
Yes please for 2025, I for one will be glad to see the back of 2024, a horrible year. But have a good feeling about 2025. As usual, for 2025 my targets are,
500 house/garden items to be decluttered
500 neutral items (have items stashed already that have been picked up in the sales and will be out of the house by October at the latest for charity, also picked up some birthday presents but they will go out throughout the year. Already have a box of items ready to go to charity-go me!Decluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you MrsSD for another golden decluttering thread. Having decluttered the house, shed & garden this year, I have one final decluttering project of a very large 6 door spare wardrobe which is overflowing with clothes, shoes, belts, scarves, coats & jackets, handbags etc which I need to fully declutter, sell off, donate and finally get rid of or sell the huge wardrobe to create even more space in the house xxxI've already started with door 1 before the New Year arrives. I donated 6 black bags to one of my local charity shops yesterday & listed 2 large black bags worth of items online to sell with a number of sales already, and I've still got 4 large black bags full left which I'm presently listing & scheduling for live listings over the coming days to complete the door 1 clearout
It's going to be a total marathon and especially so with the 2 mid/late night large shopping trolly inpost locker runs & usually 1 early morning 5.30am run I do before the inpost collection for the day, which is often around 6.30am here
I know we can all achieve our decluttering goals eventually, even if you manage one cupboard or room a year, it's better than nothing!Let's go folks & I know we will all support eachother even when things might not go to plan xxxx

Count me in! After decluttering relentlessly for a couple of years, I finally reached my correct level of "stuff" in the house. The kids seem to bring in a lot of things still, but it is looking like grandparents have finally calmed down a bit..My aim for 2025 is to live frugally and try to use everything I have to the maximum usage (plus work through some overstock I have). I will need to do some decluttering as I still haven't finished my digital photos sort out and my kids are young so they will be growing out of clothes/toys etc. I also need to finish actually rearranging the library as I was part way through about 3 months agoTargets are difficult, so as always I will have a complete stab in the dark, but with multiple targets. This way I am happy if I reach the bottom level and anything above that is a plus. In theory my figures should now all be very low given I am in the right place, but I still need to be vigilant with stuff coming in and ensuring things don't build up. I tend to think very carefully about bringing anything in given how long it took me to declutter, so I'm hopeful it'll all work out.2025 decluttering goals: 🥉365 🥈750 🥇1,000 💎2,000 🏆 3,0002025 use up challenge: 🥉12 🥈26 🥇522025 decluttering: 2,369🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅

I would like to join you all please.I looked back at my 2024 goals. Mostly completed.
2025 I would like to concentrate my efforts in the sheds and gardens. Frogs need tickling, GP appointment for a start. I will continue maintenance in the house by not bringing free stuff home unless it’s actually needed. My aim is to have another year of buying second hand when possible with some exceptions like underwear. Weight loss is an aim. 25lbs would be good. I also need to think about my mobility. I may need to admit to needing some aids.Looking forward to your company in 2025, let’s hope for a better year and you never know we might even get some summer!
