Good Morning chums and may I wish all fellow decluterati a very Happy,Healthy and peaceful New Year, Hopefully by the end of 2025 we will all be clutter free
unlikely I know as I swear my clutter secretly multiplies whilst I'm asleep
Today we declutter the last of four large grandsons back to the mainland as three went back on Saturday, and the eldest lad goes at lunchtime today.
The house will seem very quiet afterwards as we will be down to just three of us again (DD,her OH and myself) plus the two dogs.
But the bulbs are pushing up in the garden and there is still stuff to declutter.
Yesterday DD and DGS did a tip run in the morning with the recycling stuff from Christmas wrapping paper and boxes etc plus a good few of the boys empty beer bottles Its amazing how much beer is consumed by four young men in the space of a week
Life will soon return back to normality for us hopefully, once the decorations come down I will be able to get some more stuff downstairs in my sitting room, (for the past week overnight it was filled by a 6ft plus grandson on the spare mattress,
When we moved DD kept one of the mattresses on top of one of the double beds, so the spare double bed had two mattresses ,one to be used when all four lads are here.
We had one DGS in the spare room, two in the big sitting room, one of a sofa, and one on an electric pump up airbed.
The other one was in my sitting room so we managed to cram four extra lads into the house ,good job we had the extra room (my sitting room and shower room /loo ) done when we converted the garage.
I can't believe how much food just vanished, as the lads love home cooking and my son-in-law is an excellent cook. It was great fun though and we played lots of cards and board games.
DD only has to work 10-2.00 today and tomorrow then off until Friday so she will get a bit of a rest at least after the houseful
Yesterday afternoon we took the dogs down to Bembridge beach for a long walk, and it was lovely and the sea was quite calm and as we were well wrapped up not too cold at all.
Yes I too think the Boxing day dip in the sea is barmy, but then I don't like the sea even in the summer, I much prefer a swimming pool to swim in. Not keen on sand or seaweed on my feetBut DD loved it even though she stumbled and we had to get her out quick The beach at Ventnor is not very sandy at all more like very fine gravel and she said it was like walking in quicksand as she kept sinking. But there were lots of folk around .
DGS Jack ran in and ran out again just as quickly as he said the water was very cold, next year she said they would do the Ryde one as its not only closer but the beach is actually nice and sandy.
Last night i finally found the pattern I'd been looking for amongst my pattern stash and started to knit some Christmas stockings to hang from the mantle piece for next Christmas Too late for this year but I will do four for the boys for next year, and three for my three great granddaughters. I have a huge stash of wool than I shall be knitting up during the year for various things
DGS Jack took a throw home with him to Goudhurst on Sunday that I had just finished knitting for him, and he texted to say its great on his sofa nice and bright and colourful, so one large knitted throw decluttered at last.
I know I have a good deal of stationary to declutter this week I'm hoping to get some more boxes unpacked from the move,
I couldn't do them until the builders had gone, then we had Christmas so the New Year means more boxes to go I already have a bag of bits for the CS which will go on Friday as I have to go into Ryde then to return some library books.
Decluttering seems to be a never ending task but I'm determined that I really don't need half the stuff I brought with me from the move, so its going to go
Right well the kettle is calling so that means another cuppa before I get a shift on,
DGS Ben may take my big grip back with him when he goes to carry all his extra bits of presents back. Bless him he came down as he did when a student with just a rucksack carrying his clothes and bits I don't think he even owns a suitcase.
I hope you all have a great New Year and 2025 is a good one for everyone ,last year was good for me as I moved house, and I am definitely never moving again
Take care everyone as storms are on the way I think

Count me in too for 2025 things.
Anybody planning on also doing some selling of things this year? I am doing a low spend year, so thought it would be nice to also see if I can put a bit of an effort into making a bit of extra money from the things hanging around we no longer use.
I had a couple of bits still on ebay from last year, and had a sale yesterday, so that can kick me off LOL:
1. Coffee cup and saucer
2. Cardboard box, bubble wrap and packaging (reused) for above.24 -
So, I managed to donate a big bag of wax melts to someone at work this morning so they have a nice new loving home instead of being sat in a box at mine! Alsoooo I pay for Spotify as I listen to a lot of podcasts but I just realised last night after listening to the year of less that there's a lot of books I have in physical form that are also on Spotify so I plan on donating these books also
work is also pretty slow this morning as I work in a big car parts selling place and most garages are shut

I would like to join in again for this new year. Sadly I lost a dear friend of almost 50 years in 2024, 6 short weeks from diagnosis to passing so I don't want to lose anyone else in this new year.
Here's hoping for a happy, healthy and peaceful 2025 for everyone.

Been awol for a long while but hoping this thread will help keep me on track. It’s quite motivating to hear from people in similar situations!
In the midst of taking the decorations down. This year i’m refusing to put away until everything down and collated as what normally happens is that i’ll get things like gift bags in the sale and not put them with the others and come next christmas buy even more!
Had a disappointing year with the Christmas fairs- got loads of bits left so not sure what to do with them yet. I could do with the cash so might see how they do as party favours on vinted/ebay.
My to do list is so long that it makes me want to go back to bed and hide! However, got to start somewhere so my tasks before the New Year are:
1. Decorations away
2. Go through the lunch boxes and bottles - it’s ridiculous how many we have!
3. Fix the kitchen drawer…. bizarre one but can then put things away properly instead of cluttering the side!Don’t put it down - put it away!

1p Savings Challenge- 0/36525 -
Still feeling inspired this morning, so while DD is at childcare I have done the following:
Dismantled 3/7 pieces of furniture ready to go to the tip
Filled a black bag of clothes recycling for the tip
Bag of odds and ends for the charity shop filled and about to exit the house with me, 27 more items gone there
Arranged a collection of 5 pieces of furniture from a local charity, they will go morning of the second
Cleared out the understairs cupboard and the stationery drawer, a whopping 168 items out to the dustbin. Thank goodness its being emptied tomorrow!
306 items gone/earmarked to exit the house by end of the week in total now, but I definitely need a cup of tea and a biscuit to recover2025 in 2025- 2027/2025

Hello to everyone on here.
Thank you to Mrs Salad Dodger for starting a new 2025 thread and for all her hard work on here.xxx
I will be glad to see the end of 2024. There were some good bits like my husband retiring, but my cat dying before xmas was a sad time. I also found out xmas eve that my other cat might have cancer (but they can't tell without a scan) as well. I am not sure what we are doing about that as she is 19 and a half years old and won't be putting her through any treatment or even the scan under sedation at her age. She seems okay on anti-inflammatory meds at the moment and is eating and drinking fine.
I did a little bit of decluttering around xmas as I was indoors with this cold/virus. I want to finish off a couple of books on my kindle before the new year and yesterday I have deleted some I started but didn't finish.
It is lovely and sunny and bright here today which is nice now I'm feeling better. I think I will consider this the official start of the new year in my head.

I'm in too please. But I'm not counting
Having decluttered Mrs M in August I am finally getting to grips with the aftermath. Lots of winter clothing went to our Afghani refuges who are currently based here. DS' fiance took 18 pairs of shoes/boots, and the rest (out of 22 pairs) went via FB and the SA clothes skip in the village. Said girl also took a load of clothes, but it was only the iceberg tip!
It will be a long task as I need to be in the right frame of mind to plough through stuff.
Yesterday I decluttered a pile of light fittings, replacing them with LED. They were chandelier type ( dust gatherers) so I deconstructed them this morning and all the metalwork had gone out for the scrapmen. Ashamed to see how many cobwebs were lurking in plain sight! so they will be decluttered shortly.
See you in 2025.
