This is a very liberating thread. I have thrown out a pair of shoes that have always pinched and another pair to the CS. Add to that a rather nice oil decanter that mum doesn't use, a pair of sandals I never liked, a spare artificial christmas tree to work for next year and 2 more magazines and that's my 6 for today :-)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Thank you Mrs SD - this year is going to completely different I'm on it now and determined to get back to how my house always was before.
Welcome to all the new faces
Started today with some decluttering. Nearly filled a black bag (where does it all come from?), 5 bits into the paper recycling.
My main bit for this year is to clear the freezers and do batch cooking so that I have plenty of quick meals. I'm also going make my own bread and sweet stuff rather than buying any.
I got some seat foam to make a window seat this week for the living room. On Saturday I will go and look in the CS for material to cover it. It is going to have an upright back piece too to stop brat a cat deciding that the nets are part of the bed and me having to disentangle him.
I have moved the 2 setter sofa away from the front window which is why I'm making the window seat.
Bedroom is still a work in progress it will take some time to do especially as he who will not be named over this last 6 months has just dumped all his carp in there so lots of empty cardboard boxes and rubbish.
I have a book nook to do - this will be my second they get addictive“HUMAN BEINGS MAKE LIFE SO INTERESTING. DO YOU KNOW, THAT IN A UNIVERSE SO FULL OF WONDERS, THEY HAVE MANAGED TO INVENT BOREDOM. (Death)” - Sir Terry Pratchett22 -
I had a good day today. I outsmarted the negative side of me and realising that it was going to be a cold day and that would be a good excuse to stay indoors, I dug out my thermal underwear. No excuse then. 🤣
I got out and sorted the birdfeeder and lagged the outside tap. Being on a roll I then filled the car boot with old electricals and metal waste that I can finally get to now the builders junk has been removed from the garage. A trip to the tip was combined with dropping off a small box of unwanted china at the charity shop. I was good; I glanced across to the furniture to see if there were any storages units I might be interested in. There weren't so I turned around and left and didn't peruse - I invariably spot something, or more, that I think will be useful. 🤣
I'd unpacked a couple of boxes of ornaments last night to get bubble-wrap to lag the tap so I was left with a table full of things I had nowhere to put. I figured out where I had an out of the way space and have put an intentional doom box there. The items will go in my printers' tray when I finally put that up again.
Today I emptied 2 large boxes of Pyrex. I have a Pyrex habit, but I've told myself to start using more of it. I might end up selling it but at the moment I really want to enjoy it first.
Xmas decorations, such as they were, are now down and I should finish figuring out where to put them tomorrow. It's still pillar to post with stuff and boxes here but small areas of carpet are beginning to appear. 😁
Just about all the festive food in the fridge has been dealt with; either eaten or frozen and with luck, shopping will be minimal for quite a time. All (!) I need to do now is declutter the festive weight I've gained.
Good luck on your journey everyone. DxAiming for a Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget

PollyWollyDoodle said:I’ve lurked on this thread for ages, time to join in, and can I give an honourable mention to @QueenJess who’s been an inspiration, as well as the amazing Mrs SD of course.I'm blushing! So I am keeping a rough log of what I am bringing into the house whether it is paid for or free to make sure I am not bringing loads of stuff in with nothing going back out. After I did that, I sorted out a pile of books that seem to have bred whilst I wasn't looking as DH had voluntarily gone through his books and got rid of some *gasp*. What amused me is that he quoted things I said about stuff being a waste if you never use it... he is finally on the decluttering wagon now that I have finished the rest of the house
Fingers crossed he'll catch up with the frugal wagon I'm on this year at some point....
A small pile of books going out in exchange for £5 (but all helps). I have another box of random stuff to sort through for charity at some point, so more will be leaving the house in the next week or so I hope. Currently more in than out and it's only the 2nd day of Jan!I did declutter the last of the xmas fruit cake, but food consumption is definitely not an issue in this house. I'm dreading DS and DD being teenagers as they don't stop eating as it is now!Physical:
