2025 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD - The Joy of Decluttering
morning, Wowsers, loads of you making an excellent start to the year!!!
(((big hugs))) to anyone needing one, and anyone feeling under the weather, its turning chillier so stay warm peeps xx
I pulled out 14 books no longer needed and 16 journals from my organisation that are old and unneeded.
DH also helped, he managed to break a glass and a mug. The glasses shattered into a billion tiny shards so he has to completetly empty the cupboard. It is huge and clean everything ~ ALL our glasses, mugs, plates, bowls. I was very happy as its a job that has been needing doing for ages. I didnt realise what was going on as I was haing a new years day lie in ~ hehe!!!!
so total is now
48 / 2025 keeping the numbers tally on the fridge has been a great idea.
Next to be looked at are things to be sold, I have an inherited stamp collection and first covers. And my phonecard collection!! Anyone want a phonecard or 10 ?????? Some are fun like the magic roundabout ones and beano comic ones and these are new in packets ~ But they are going, I do not need a bag or several 100 phonecards ~ repeat, I do not need the phonecards.
I might just keep the stone roses one !!!! I also have a star wars tazo collection and folder. ANyone else collect the free tazos from walkers crisps back in the 90s??

Decluttering 2025 So far 403 / 2025 Decluttering 2024🏅🏅🥇🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐⭐🌸 DS2🏅🏅DD🏅🥇🌸 25 in 25 So far 1 /25
Hi all, I see the EDT has taken off at barely subsonic speed . I have skim read the posts and just want to say hello to everyone who has come over from the 2024 thread, great to see you, and welcome to the new joiners I look forward to following your journeys as I continue to try to sort out the house and garden here . I took some time yesterday to think about my aims, goals and targets for this year . I have quite a few as this will be my 70th trip around the sun and some things have waited too long to be done . Having said that I have also had to admit that I just don't have the energy levels I used to have and need to plan things better. Some changes will have to be made .I won't bore you with all the list but decluttering is right up there at the top So I had a little sort out of my toiletries / meds draw and binned some ood eye cream and ood eye gel though the eye gel will probably be replaced as I find my eyes work better when they aren't too dry . Toiletries continue to need using up so that is a goal Sorted through a pot of pens, 3 binned as although they looked full of ink they didn't work properly and I think I have given them enough chances . A baby card from my stash was posted off, @Mrs SD it was a boy and they are calling him Beau. I will make no comment on that On nye we had a take away from our favourite Greek restaurant and then went into ln's for a while. We managed to take 5 bottles of wine and a bottle of coffee liquor to be shared around . OH gets loads gifted and we rarely drink at home. The kitchen bin and lr bin were emptied and I did some more batch cooking. I had a massive amount of peppers, really don't know what possessed me to buy that many, so I made a mixed bean, pepper and tomato soup/stew spiced up with some smoked paprika which we will have for tea tonight leftovers will go in the freezer . I was quite tired last night and found myself falling asleep on the couch so took myself off to bed at 9.30 and was asleep quite quickly so I have been awake early and have a load of washing on the line. It is currently -1° but the forecast is for sun so hoping it will get at least part dry despite the ice on the bird bath . Today I also want to declutter the rest of the veg into a veg stew for the freezer and finish the pink baby blanket, ln's great granddaughter due in 6 weeks and maybe get it into the post tomorrow . On the baby front I have heard of 2 more babies due this year, one an ex colleague who is due to become a dad on st. Patrick's day which is very apt as he is Irish and yesterday I spoke to my friend who lost her DH just before Christmas and she told me her dd2 is pregnant, due end of June/ early July. This is her 3rd attempt at IVF so is much cause for happiness so I will have another couple of blankets to get on with as soon as I have sorted out some yarn, though I fear I will have to buy some as I don't think I have enough of the right colours, but it will be going out as soon as they are finished . I also bought some Christmas cards in the sale, reduced from £6.99 to £2 per pack so I was quite pleased with that. I thought initially I had gone a bit mad with the quantity as they were such a bargain but when I got home and showed OH we agreed that they would probably all be used as we only had 5 left in the box. They have been put away where they will live until December Right off to get another cuppa . Hugs to everyone who would like one
1 eye cream 2 eye gel 3 baby card 4 - 7 bottles of wine 8 bottle of coffee liquor 9 kitchen bin 10 lr bin 11 batch cooking Take care everyone 11/2025
I was thinking that if I aimed for 5 things a day that would make a good target. Yesterday I found 15 without really trying too hard. I don't expect to keep this up for the whole of 2025 but it's a good start. The scores were
My bedroom 1 Living room 4 Kitchen 10 (I did this one while I waited for dinner to cook)
I've made a note of the total in my journal. Thanks for the hug @Liverpool_Anne. I'll be heading to Liverpool later today to collect my son from the station.
Hiya everyone! I haven't seen anyone else reference it yet, so let me be the first to say Welcome to TwentyTwentyThrive. We are leaving any and all negativity in 2024. We are going to be thriving this year, decluttering, moisturising, enjoying ourselves, and only attracting good things.
I totally fell off the wagon last year. I know realistically we have got rid of loads of stuff. When we moved in September 2023, we had a 20ft storage container, and it still took two incredibly full Luton vans to move us. Now everything we own would fit in a 20ft storage container... which is actually very good news, as we rented one in December. We are supposed to be moving (again) this month, and said storage container is about 75% full, and my house is about 80% empty. We are downsizing into a pretty little terraced house, with no attic storage, no garage and only one teeny shed in the garden.
The plan is to get everything we can into the unit this weekend, and then when moving day comes, we can just load the back of our caddy van with the last minute essentials, and away we go.
Therefore, my goals for 2025 are as follows: -empty the whole storage unit and give back the key.probably throw out half of the stuff in there. - sell all the stuff I have put aside for vinted. or at least, if it doesn't sell in six months, take it to the clothing bank. - use up my cross-stitch stashbecause quite frankly there are soooo many projects there that I will be sewing well into my 90s if I continue ignoring it. - get rid of 2025 things.
Good luck everyone

Leaving a spoon and some jammy flapjack in the TLC carriage.. for those in need 🤗
Aaaand wer'e off at a gallop. Good morning to everyone. Wishing you every success and I for one am looking forward to hearing all your progress.
I am not alone in being glad at seeing the back of 2024 with the sudden passing of bit by bit and Mr V's cancer treatment. Anyhoo 2025 is going to be much more positive in our house.
Currently we have a waterfall in our garden caused by the stream on our boundary breaking out. It's an annual occurrence. so are the emails which the council ignore. It is caused by broken drains higher up the hill.
I have eaten a frog by contacting someone about the possible sale of my Mother's house.
Out, a broken glass nail file leather purse
Off to yoga, hope the roads are ok, very cold here atm
Morning all, a good start to 2025 seems to be happening on here already so let's hope we can all keep up the good work ! Today I have put a pair of brand new slippers (xmas present) in the cs bag as they are too small for me. Out in the recycling, a plastic tub minus the chocs, they were not worth the money and I'll definitely not buy them next year. That's what I said this year but DH insisted 🙄. Also a cheese biscuit box and the plastic inner, the contents have been decanted into a lock and lock box to keep them fresh. I have to wash my xmas table cloth today too as some clumsy person got curry on it, t'was me but I can't believe I missed my mouth 😂 Currently DH is talking to his bank again because someone tried to spend some money via his card on an online site, he has already spoken to them once so here's hoping they can sort it properly this time ! Technology eh !! Hope everyone has a good year on the decluttering front. I wish for good health and peace for everyone in 2025. nan
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently
Morning all, I was getting on really well - sorted in the kitchen and got the washing on. I started to sort out in my craft room. Then I got a message on V from a buyer - the shoes she bought have literally fallen apart after half a dozen wears. I have no idea what shoes she is talking about as didn't say. What does she expect me to do? If you bought a pair of shoes in a charity shop - would you complain to them like this?
I thought I would start with the worst and get it over with. 3 drawers from the unit in the garage. I put a towel over my kitchen table two bin bags over that then 1drawer at a time. I was ruthless. All old rusty tools that belonged to my dad ( he died in 1975) so the nails had been rusting for a while. Offered the tools ages ago to the local men's shed and they didn't want them. I have kept a lot and recycled a lot into the metal collection. Feel much better for doing that. The 4th drawer is gardening stuff old secateurs . Might have to prune something in the garden to check which ones I want to keep. They will probably all need cleaning. Hibernating here till the snow goes. Off to tackle a drawer under my bed. Wish me luck.
It is sunny here, but it is supposed to get quite cold tonight. We watched the new Harlan Coben show Missing You on Netflix last night and it was watchable. I know I read the book, but I couldn't remember the storyline.
I am doing some laundry at the moment and have the heating on to dry it afterwards. I have to take my dog for her annual vaccinations and check-up later.
I really have to declutter some weight as I have gained my usual half stone since the clocks went back. I wanted to lose weight even before that! I'm just having a smoothie for breakfast and I might make a batch of veg and lentil soup later for lunches.
I am going to go through my wardrobe in a minute and see what I don't wear and put it to one side in a bag or maybe move tops to my nightclothes drawer for layering when it does get cold.
