We made a good start today, we’d accumulated loads of wrapping paper and stuff, so I’ve recycled any that were partly used or of poor quality. Unopened have gone in a charity shop bag (don’t know if anyone will want it?), keeping just a few rolls for next year. My husband enjoys buying new for me every year, which is why we ended up with so much! Did the same with tags, ribbon etc and reduced from 3 boxes to one. Said to hubby now we need to do this for the whole house 😱😂
21 rolls out

Enjoyed a slow start, not getting up till 9 am, that’s waaay late for me!Breakfast first then began to remove and group together the Christmas decorations, gradually deconstructing the tree and sorting through everything, any broken items binned and the rest stacked and packed away in an organised way.
Bag of items ready for the food bank (including 2 lynx sets that cannot be used by DS’s)
OH put back his guitars (as they’re moved for the tree to fit in) then prepped all the veg for lunch and hoovered through the house. Roastie was cooked and enjoyed by all.
A few games of Uno and Go fish played before munching warm cookie and ice-cream for pudding.
Watched the Christopher Reeve documentary, certainly put a few things into perspective in regard to the ill health that’s been effecting both myself and loved ones.. Determined to create better and more genuine connections with familam and learn to step away from those who continually try to bring negativity into our lives.
Have spent time over the last couple of days thinking of goals I’d like to accomplish over the next 52 weeks..
Will put these in my journal while watching Vera..
HAPPY NEW YEAR PEEPS.. 🥳
May this year be whatever it is you need it to be, hopefully with a dash of kindness, courage and compassion for yourself!..💗"There's a little witch in all of us"🔮🪬🧿DEBT FREE 06/2018Mrs SD’s Decluttering 2025 ⭐️ 🥇25 -

- Concerted effort to sort out sleep patterns - Realistic targets: bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 10:00 a.m
- Continue dealing with mail & email on a daily basis
- Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
- Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
- Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
13:30 DH is finally up 😉 our bed is just way too comfortable 😂 I have sorted out my Terramundi Pot & added the 2024 1p Challenge monies to my purse for treats & wants rather than needs 😉 Rather a large amount now as I was rather remiss in treating myself last year 😔 Mainly down to the fact that I really, really dislike shopping 😂 DH & I practically finished off the hm soup 🤤 just a bit left as a starter for the next one. Back to cheerleading 😉
Welcome back MadamMim2013 👋 Sorry to hear about the ongoing health issues 😔 but pleased to hear that you are taking ‘a hiatus from paid work’ to aid in your recovery 😊 Good luck with your “Vinty” sales 🍀 I have made a note of your goals - moving home is a great incentive to decluttering 👏
BlueJ94, What an excellent start to your 2025 decluttering campaign 👏 I can see that you are determined to complete the process of clothes decluttering this time 😉 - all bagged up & ready to move on to their final destinations - hopefully by the end of the week 🤞 After all it would be rather nice to ‘disprove’ your OH’s observation 😂
weenancy, firstly I am sending you a huge & gentle cwtch 🤗 Please remember how much you got done last year especially with everything you did for the Friends of the Library & looking after your roommates - all whilst coping with your own health issues 👏😊 I am hoping that the Mormon missionaries give you a lot more time this year & will be able to help get your living room fully accessible 🙏 Meanwhile good luck dealing with your ‘giant frogs’ 🍀 & by the way, you WILL make progress - you just need to cut yourself a little slack & take time for yourself 🙏
Lovely to see you basketcase 😊 There is method in having the EDT so well appointed - it gives us a chance to rest or recover, make plans & ‘talk’ to our Declutterati family & also eat as much as we like (virtually) without gaining a single pound 🥳 Great aims & putting them in your signature is a wonderful idea 👏 Thanks for This “All numbers are vague and flexible. I've belatedly come to realise that the very good advice to set specific goals doesn't actually work very well for me. If I don't reach the set amount I feel as if I've failed, become disheartened and then have to hype myself up again. So these are chilled out, non-threatening totals. 🙃” it is almost like you read my mind 😊
ionafan, lovely post, thank you for sharing your life with us 😊 Sounds like you are a seasoned & very successful declutterer, so I am really looking forward to following your future successes & gaining inspiration from you 😊
Lovely to see you again Happy_Kitties 😊 Here’s to another successful year for you 🥂 I see you have already made an excellent start 👏
Nice to see you again Dizzycap 👋 Talk about a successful 2024 🤩 house, shed & garden all decluttered - you obviously worked like a Trojan 👏 You have already made a great start to your 2025 decluttering project 🥳 At the rate you are going you will be all done & dusted before the middle of January 😉 You do realise of course that we will all be clamouring for your services 😅
Welcome aboard the EDT Mrs_Money_Penny 👋
Lovely to see you back QueenJess 👋 So pleased to see that your vigorous decluttering over the last couple of years has borne fruit 🥳 & that you are now happy with the amount of ‘stuff’ in your home 😊 Good luck with your final push decluttering digital photos & organising the library 🍀 Given all the hard work you put in, I have absolutely no doubt that you will be hyper vigilant in restricting the amount of ‘stuff’ that comes in 😉
So happy that you are back vulpix 😊 A very successful 2024 on the decluttering front 🥳 I have noted your aims for 2025 & of course the sheds & garden decluttering should be easier now that MrV has finally retired 😉😅 Good luck with the weight loss 🍀 with any luck success will help your mobility far more than any aids 🙏
A second page caught up but I do need to try harder. I reheated last night’s dinner (only enough for 2) so DH & DSis are fed & I will be having an egg sandwich for my dinner 🙂 Now that the rain has finally stopped, I can finally bin my old slippers 😉
1 - Old slippers binned
2 - 6 Kitchen recycling, 2 glass bottles, small plastic bottle, drinks cans - recycled
7 - 8 Kitchen & lr detritus - binned
I do hope everyone has had a restful first day of 2025…… despite the bad weather 🤞

Two items that I listed this afternoon have sold so didn't make their way to a bag. I do need to do some wrapping of parcels.
I decluttered a sauce bottle that was in the fridge - rinsed it out and added to the stir fry that I cooked for dinner - it was very yummy.
About to wash up and have a cuppa.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

I woke with the sniffles and a headache which have so far not developed into anything else so limited done today other than decluttering The Serial Killers Wife!. I'm hoping to volunteer tomorrow at a secondhand bookshop for the NT so I did sort a large bag of books to take in, a few old cookery books and some paperbacks. I have found volunteering there is fatal, too many books have come home
at least this is recycling some of them back.
I have collected all my plastic food containers together in a large bag and will sit one evening and sort, I have containers with no lids and lids with no containers. These days volunteer a couple of days so don't need so many.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin21 -
Good evening!
I've had a bit of a lazy day with some 'quick blasts'
Nothing done this morning, then at about 1 I went for a 45 min walk with DD3F as he wants to be healthier this year. Then I did half hour in the room, my plan is to clean one room each day and declutter at least 3 things from that room each day, that should get me half way and the other half will hopefully come from the loft/sheds. So by the end of the year hopefully everywhere will look a bit better.
Then I did roast chicken dinner with all the fresh veg that was left from christmas and homemade Yorkshire puddings. The oven is playing up though and the chicken filled were still raw after an hour in the oven so they went in the air fryer for 30 mins.
Then did another half hour between the room and washer, dryer and dishwasher.
My eyes are so sore, I can hardly see right now so I'm off to bed after posting.

Day one of the year and have reached my daily target of 6 (well it's actually 5.547945 to make 2025 over the year but figures if I did at least 6 today that would be a good start) - a bag of flour bb 2008 (!), the tube of left over icing from the gingerbread house which I would not have used and 4 magazines from May.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

a small area organised and things that don't belong there and deep cleaned - love it but slightly daunted by the thought whether ever possible to do most of the house !
Difficult to do much when working so made the most of today with 9 pillow cases, scales, therapy band, and massage thing in CS bag, then broken earring, plastic wallet and small bit of debris binned, and 2 textiles for recycling
Total 26
Also one email frog, meter readings done and papers looked out for work tomorrow.
I have a feeling the train is speeding along already....

I’d like to join in, although I don’t think I can count items. I did Marie Kondo a few years ago, in fact that was my introduction to the MSE Forum as there was quite a long thread about it. I got rid of loads of stuff, and then I moved house three years ago and got rid of more (and still moved stuff I didn’t need to keep). The downstairs is pretty much maintenance level these days, and it’s so easy to keep clean and tidy. Upstairs however …
I struggle with paperwork and filing. I have way too many unread books, all second-hand, some of which I’m probably never going to read. And I have a craft room which is stuffed with UFOs, yarn and fabric, I find it really hard to let go of but can barely use the room as a result.Excellent post from @daisy_1571 on page 6 summarising some of the ways to declutter. I need to remember that The Thing doesn’t care … and that keeping something I don’t use is NOT ‘not wasting’ it.Two friends I remember from the Marie Kondo thread were Mike and Justin. That’s ‘Mike Uminandi’ and ‘Justin Case’. I have kept far too much for these chaps!I’ve lurked on this thread for ages, time to join in, and can I give an honourable mention to @QueenJess who’s been an inspiration, as well as the amazing Mrs SD of course.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.24
