OH took the CS bag with him when he went out today. Have had the day to myself again but haven’t managed to do as much as last week due to having to deal with incoming post and phone calls.
Have managed to get a few small things into paper recycling and a bin bag into general rubbish. I still have a couple of hours before OH gets back so will have a go at a bit more reading to see if more paper recycling can go.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅18 -
Wow! I’ve finally caught up with all the posts! What an “eventful” life everyone is leading - some of it good, some bad, some oo-er. And lots of decluttering through it!
@vulpix I was shocked to read about your stroke, and am so glad you are doing so much and keeping your spirits up.
@Florenceem glad to read Mr F is home and making good progress.
Hugs to all who need or want them.
I’ve been very slow lately, stiff in back and hips and my painkillers make me dozy, so lots of daytime naps being taken.
I’m finding the place has been in chaos for so long that I tend not to see it, but just look past it. I also make lists, nicely crafted, tasks broken down into logical steps: I find the lists when I’m sorting paperwork or other stuff and sometimes they are a few years old, and even have one or two items ticked off.
Decluttered
- household recycling to wheelie bin (bin men came Monday)
- kitchen rubbish to wheelie bin for next Monday
- some hair decluttered at hairdresser’s (just a trim, nothing drastic 😀)
- very old hand brush from my DMum’s dustpan-&-brush set: I kept the pan because it was bought only recently (1980s I think) and is still in good shape, but the brush is the original (late 1940s) and the bristles are now past any more washing
- one hour’s ironing (I only do an hour at a time)
Recluttered
- book lent by friend
- new hand brush“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

Wow fabulous decluttering all xxxThis is going to be a Fabulous Decluttering February for everyoneStarted early morning as usual 6am. Declutter all the HH bins whilst the kettle was boiling and then decluttered some toilet rolls from my stock in the cupboard and cluttered up the bathroom toilet roll basket, so that was a neutral but essential declutter / clutter. I sprayed, washed, & wiped the bathroom suit and cluttered the toilet with a good bleach cleanI didn't need to go to the charity shop with RD donations this morning, so baby-face and I spent a couple of hours in the back garden as the sun was lovely and warm. Managed to clean up a few bits (1/2 a garden sack full and then put in the gardening bin ready for collection on Friday) did a little watering of my all my tubs of bulbs, which are coming along lovely
Have my first set of snowdrops today
. I managed to give the bird bath a good clean and fill with fresh water along with decluttering some homemade seeded brown bread and filling up the bird feeder
.
I then had energy to go into the front garden and clipped down my wintered clemitis and fed it along with a couple of others and watering a few heather pots which really needed it and were completely dryAlthough heather seems to be ok with not having much water but it likes one big watering session and then you can forget it
So some good decluttering garden work todayI decluttered a couple of cups of coffee and then postie came to declutter a parcel. I then took babyface for a nice walk in the sun and cluttered up with 4 parcels from the inpost locker for a neighbour which were prompty decluttered on the way back
I had to rest this afternoon for a few hours but then managed to take pictures ready to list some more items this evening before I empty the kitchen bin and spray & clean and then take babyface out for her night walk and clutter up the dolly trolly with 4 inpost parcels which have arrived - donations for RD, so the dolly trolly will be parked in the hallway ready to leave for the charity shop first thing tomorrow morning - PRONTO!I'm now going to declutter a large cup of coffee and list some items which I will hopefully be decluttering out of the house soonWishing everyone a lovely decluttering evening and as always, hugs, thoughts and prayers to all xx~ NSD 2025 - NSD July 19/20 (6 x💯)# Spectos/Royal Mail Monitoring and Posting Panel - Ongoing~ Totally FREE Christmas 2025 - 🎁✉️🏷🎀💐🪪🗒🧺⭐️Completed Challenges 2025:# No.36 Make £2025 in 2025 £1634.34 / £2025 (58%) (3) 💯💯+# No.12 Save £2 a Day 2025 2025: £730/ £730 💯# No.27 Save 1p A Day 2025 £667.95 / £667.95 💯# No.19 52 Week Env Challenge £1378 / £1378 💯# No.34 Save £12k in 2025 £13,429.74 / £12,000 💯 - Continuing20 -
Amazing decluttering and the train is speeding along so fast these days.
@sqwiffy be gentle with yourself as you're doing so much. I come home and watch my k dramas, quite mindless and also quite addictive !
Work laptop had a meltdown for about an hour so I decluttered emails on home laptop , I think around 1000 so down to 1.6k emails on one account and down from.. 96% full to 94%!
Decorating doing well and also gluing the leg of my table, sorting some other bits on Friday.
Have sold 2 items but awaiting payment so will count when posted with packaging.16 -
Glad the wool issue was sorted out and although I have taken a bit of furniture over to the IOW@basketcase I'm not planning on making it a habit!@Mrs SD , that was a lot of money for glasses and does anyone ever use a second pair? I onlt did one, when I had a motor bike accident and they were run over! And it's some sort of setting that turns the TV on and off at set intervals I think. I'm on the laptop more than the TV really. Now, who was it who got rid of about 26 books at once and how? I only do when i read them one by one unless I want to read it again. I find these the hardest thing to let go as there were no books in our house when i was a kid. I used to go to the library almost daily and vowed I'd own my books when I was grown up!I enjoyed a couple of videos this week, one an american guy "the new retired me" and another by Reynard Lowell. I liked the things they said and I'm going to give them a go when I'm at home again. I've been at my mum's since lunchtime today and also brought my MIL for a visit, took her to the library, then after taking her home, back to my mum's. I'm hoping to get out to the art group I usually look after tomorrow for an hour or so, then I'm back here.@liverpool Anne - Ha, a list for home sometimes becomes a today list amd a longer term list, and then I have an art list as there's so much to do with them! Something so satisfying about crossing things off when done. I also reward myself with cuppa's when I've got through a set number of items!!@Brie - glad it's not just me!@Queen Jess- Loved how frugal you got with that pencil
Are you sure you couldn't have used a knife to use even more,
Did recycle some nail varnishes and about 250 emails yesterday. And still dealing with that huge amphibian....Getting a bit fed up of all these different district nurses telling us different things, not having any or the right dressings for my mum's bedsore and saying they will order socks, mattress topper, mattress or even a bed but then the next person saying the same. We'vce ended up buying one today as we don't want her to wait any longer. A GP message to us two days back to say if the sore isn't getting better, to ring him so he can see if she needs different meds, so today rang again. They said he's ring us, didn't, then DS3 got a message to say we should ring the nurses! I'm going to the surgery tomorrow as this wound is not improving with the alternate day dressings and penicillin. It's smelling nasty and still weepy. But despite all this, DM is still here yet a cousin's OH died yesterday and only in his 50's. He had long term health problems but still. My DM is 89 so we don't know how the cookie will crumble. Here's a hug for anyone who needs it....TrialTrying different methods of decluttering..... Random at present but not very organised.20 -

Feb net physical in/out -3Use a craft knife to sharpen it. I'd get another year out of that!Well things didn't go to plan this evening as the temperature started to drop and I needed to get baby-face out for her last walk, otherwise life just isn't worth living - she can be so dramatic and throw herself down in her bed too!We went to collect the donated RD inpost parcels and by the time I got back my energy just zapped and having to sit and concentrate to list was a no,no, so I decluttered the kitchen bin and cleaned it and then decluttered the washing basket and did 2 loads of washing which are now clutter drying overnight - at least I won't see it only to put away tomorrowunlike the full dolly trolly and large black bin liner now cluttering up the hallway and ready to leave pronto to the charity shop first thig in the morning
Now decluttering a large cup of coffee and a couple of homemade zesty lemon cookies before I go off to bedWishing every one a good night and happy decluttering for tomorrow xxxHugs, thoughts & prayers to all xx~ NSD 2025 - NSD July 19/20 (6 x💯)# Spectos/Royal Mail Monitoring and Posting Panel - Ongoing~ Totally FREE Christmas 2025 - 🎁✉️🏷🎀💐🪪🗒🧺⭐️Completed Challenges 2025:# No.36 Make £2025 in 2025 £1634.34 / £2025 (58%) (3) 💯💯+# No.12 Save £2 a Day 2025 2025: £730/ £730 💯# No.27 Save 1p A Day 2025 £667.95 / £667.95 💯# No.19 52 Week Env Challenge £1378 / £1378 💯# No.34 Save £12k in 2025 £13,429.74 / £12,000 💯 - Continuing16 -
- Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
- Concerted effort to sort out sleep patterns - Realistic targets: bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 10:00 a.m
- Continue dealing with mail & email on a daily basis
- Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
- Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
- Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
I put away the last of the shopping. DH & I had a bowl of hm soup - hearty but uninspiring. Watched a bit of TV. Dinner was salmon fillets, boiled potatoes & peas. Wudupa. Put recycling wheelie bin roadside.
228 - 229 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans - recycled
230 - 231 Kitchen detritus, plastic packaging - binned

I'm a list person but I got a bit stuck with mine after I was ill in 2023. I found I had to break the jobs into smaller tasks, so "tidy bedroom" became "strip bed; put clean sheets on; put clean duvet cover on; sort ottoman; put away clothes; clean window; polish & dust; clear dressing table". Maybe that's an approach for those whose list isn't getting ticked off?
I'm off work until Monday but have some stuff to get done including a vet appointment for my cat in just over an hour and a committee meeting this afternoon.
Then I will have to do some tidying and maybe a bit of housework....2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
