Have we ever been in a worse car buying era I don't know where to turn next.

Even with a petrol car, you could end up in the same situation. Running low garage closed.- The car, with a fuel gauge accurate to less than 1% tells you it won't make the destination
- It immediately brings up a list of available charging points en-route
- You select one, drive to it and you charge the car
The Daily Mail version of events:- Without any warning, the car judders to a screeching halt. Everything goes dark.
- It's getting cold. Terrified, you reach to open the driver's door.
- You are immediately eaten by a pack of hungry wolves
- Several weeks later, police dogs finally locate all of your body parts across three counties

I get some people do not like change & do not want a EV, for valid reasons. Such as can't charge at home.
It is the silly reasons, which this thread is littered with that make some look (insert own description)
Would I want to go back to a petrol/diesel car?
Hell no, not with so few place to fill up.. Less than 8k, compared to nearly 10X more places to charge a car, not counting all the homes with charge points 🤷♀️
No more wasting my time filling up car. Which can be ages these days given a lot of petrol stations now have a built in supermarket & people doing their weekly shop 😒
Al least if I need to charge while out & about I can enjoy a coffee or food while it's topping up & not have to stand breathing in fumes.Life in the slow lane1 -
Did I miss something? What is the environmental cost of lithium mines? Has anyone promoting EVs looked into the enormous detrimental costs to the environment on the materials that are required for EVs? Net zero is an absolute pile of poop and is absolute greenwashing. Your EV might not make emmissions in use but the emissions to make the darned cars is, I understand, far more than for an ICE vehicle. "They" don't want us riff raff having cars. Wake up people.

I think this is the point where the thread tailspins into pointless rounds of reason vs conspiracy theorist. It won't live much longer! We have the classic trope of "scam", urging to 'wake up people' and mentions of "They". We just need something about Bill Gates/Soros/WEF and we have a full house.
Anyone moaning about lithium, I presume you don't have any laptops or mobile phones?
Batteries can be recycled, oil can only be burned once.3 -

Obviously, my car is getting greener every day due to the energy mix going into the electricity grid constantly getting greener.
Who are "They"?1 -

Ultimate one. What if there is a power cut. Well you ain't going to get any petrol either...
As always the reality sits somewhere between doom-mongering ICE’rs and the evangelical EV’rs. There are some real issues for people without the ability to charge at home, there is the potential for some practical issues otherwise - although potentially so rare that they really aren’t worth worrying about (but should be acknowledged), especially so if you have an ICE as backup.
And for some people a car isn’t just a means of getting from A to B. I love the way my old car smells inside, and the way it ticksover like a sewing machine. I love the way my newer car sounds when it’s flat out. I love the fact that neither are filled with screens, and gadgets & technology that is questionable safer. Maybe others feel the same, but perhaps it’s simpler to express it as “EV’s are cr4p”2 -
Don't worry, at some point in the future we will own nothing and be happy!I think the battery in my phone is minisclue compared to what has to be mined for car batteries. I may be out of date but thought they didn't yet have a solution for the coming used EV car battery waste problem? It's good to question things but usually if you don't tow the line you get cancelled. I watched a great vid that suggested jokingly that the next traffic sign recognition version on that particular car would report back to car manufacturer if you persisted in trying to overide the speed limiter (which was apparently quite tricky to overide) and you would be publicly shamed on social media. It was funny but makes you wonder where we are heading and the potential. Will I need a subscription to use a car soon?0

Black box technology is already here and fitted to all cars now, but is limited to aggregate data and not available to manufacturers or insurers. Yet.
That said my son works for a well known German brand and you would be amazed at the data already available in both the keys and the ECUs.A direct line to social media? Sounds crazy but maybe one day…0 -
Probably just a software update away....

Not forgetting these gems all over the states

Net Zero is a myth, unless we are going to have a planet covered in tree's & no room for anything else.
I could not care less that you still want to drive a ICE. It is all the silly excuses that keep coming up that makes them look daft.
Such as They" don't want us riff raff having cars
A EV is a car. Last time I looked it does the same as a ICE, gets you from A2B 🤣Life in the slow lane1
