Good morning guys
I’m thoroughly enjoying not having to get up for work and am actually feeling a bit more energetic today.I’ve transferred £25 to the emergency fund ( which at the moment also includes the wedding and holiday fund)
This morning I’ve pottered about doing bits of jobs and done this weeks menu plan from stocks ( I’ll need frozen chips and milk but I think that’s it so far)
Tea is going to be toad in the hole with frozen Brussels so the only prep was the batter which is now in the fridge and getting sausages out to defrost ( I can get away with less if they are cut into chunks)
I hope to get my hair cut later. My hairdresser doesn’t require appointments if you are happy to wait but I’m not sure whether she opens on Mondays so it might move until tomorrow.
i’ve an interview on Wednesday morning for a vacancy in our sister shop Wednesday morning. My job is getting a bit too heavy and looking to the future I need something a bit lighter and where there’s more staff so I don’t have to just get on with it if there’s heavy bits to do. I like my current job but really it is for a younger fitter person. After I had my cancer op 18 months ago I’ve never really got my energy back but there’s no way I can afford to give up work before I get my state pension.

Hi guys
Todays been a lazy, pottering about type of day. A bit of housework done but apart from that not much as the weather was dreadful so I’ve not left the house. Good in a way because I’ve not spent a penny. The hairdresser was open yesterday so another job done. I never like my hair when it’s just been cut, it feels too short but luckily grows quickly so should be ok by the wedding.
OH is out this evening so a simple quick tea of egg, potato smileys and beans and then an evening in front of the tv.
Not very exciting but ok I think.

Hi guys
Today has been another ok day. I went for my interview this morning which went well I think. I should hear from Friday or into next week, as there are other interviewees and various posts available. Then if I’m successful then they will need to cover my role before I can move so nothing is going to happen quickly.
I paid £30 off my credit card which covers this months basic payment and a bit more and then anything else is a bonus. I’ll probably move my PADs into the EF and then pay a chunk off at the end of next month if it’s not needed.
This afternoon we’ve been for a ride out and tea and cake as the weather is cold but lovely. I’m making the most of my time off as I’m back at work next Wednesday.
Tomorrow we’re going over to look after our little granddaughter which is always lovely. So far I only need milk and potatoes so my weekly shop will not be needed until next week which will stretch the pennies a bit further.

Fingers crossed that the interview was successful 🤞It sounds a better option for you. I’m like you, I can’t afford to give up work until state pension age unfortunately.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Thanks Sun_Addict
Fingers crossed that I hear soon.
Today has been lovely as we spent the afternoon with our absolutely beautiful ( not that I’m biased of course) little granddaughter. Every time we go her speech is getting better and although we’re shattered after a visit it’s such fun. We did jigsaws, played games, hid under a blanket and pretended to be on a bus. Time passes so quickly and we try to go over at least once a week and they try to visit when they can. I’m so lucky.
I’ve decided to do a weekly shop on Monday before I go back to work on Wednesday. I want to keep a decent store cupboard because 1 if I go to buy a bottle of milk I always buy other stuff and 2 I think prices will start to rise if the silly man in America imposes tariffs on us ( sorry I know I shouldn’t do politics) but bringing my shop forward a few days will let me relax a bit.
Not long after I joined the MSE forum we had to go bankrupt and before we finally did it we struggled for a couple of years, living on nothing to try and pay off the debt. Some of you will remember me.We lost our business and our home. OH got a good job, we moved down south and over a few years we paid off everything we owed but I still dread empty cupboards and an empty freezer. You guys were so supportive if I needed to talk at that time and I will be forever grateful. You find out who your friends are when times are hard and there will always be someone here who understands.

Hi guys
Today hasn’t been madly exciting but ok.
Blood test day, then L*ld for a couple of bits ( I could have done without apart from the milk but I got a free £5 voucher so I bought a couple bits and then knocked them off my next online shop). This afternoon has been lazy doing some of a jigsaw and then a nap. DS2 offered to make tea so that was nice too.
Nothing about the vacancy yet but I thought it would probably be next week before I heard anything.
Tomorrow is my DIL to be’s hen do and as mother of the groom I’m delighted to be going. It’s not a big do and I’ll go for a few hours and then let the younger girls party.

Hi guys
I thought I’d check in earlier today I’m out this afternoon.
£15 off the CC on my PAD and today is definitely a NSD so the finances aren’t looking too bad at the moment.
I’ve done a bit of gentle organising this morning. The meat is defrosting in the fridge for tomorrow and I’ve updated my need to do list with birthdays and things that need achieving for the next 2 months ( I do so like wiping things off a list )
Apart from that I’ve just had a couple of cups of nice coffee and am catching up with my reading on here.
Have a lovely day

Hi guys
I’m still keeping motivated. Another £15 off my CC for my PAD and another NSD.

Good morning guys
Today I’ve already sorted out my credit cards. The 0% offer on the card I’m using is due to run out and I had an offer on the emergency card. So sorted that and now the card I’ve just emptied will become the emergency card if that makes sense. It’s my day off so we’re going for a ride out to my favourite place for cake and coffee so it won’t be a NSD but I have done my PAD ( I’ve still not missed one since new year 😇)I’m still waiting to hear whether I’ve been successful with the transfer to another job, but if not I’m going to ask if I can lose a day a week ( I can afford to manage on 3 if I need to ) Going back yesterday after two weeks off wasn’t good but jobs are scarce when you’re in your 60s so I’ll keep plodding as long as I can and get to a position where we can manage on OHs works pension until we both get our state pensions.
Sorry to be a misery but sometimes it helps to write down and I’ll be better when I’ve had a big piece of cake. Small pleasures.
Hugs to those who need one ❤️

I completely agree that this is such a friendly, helpful and supportive place and never judgemental.
I hope you are successful with the job transfer.
A trip out for a coffee and cake is a nice treat that doesn't bust the budget.1
