Cuddlymarms 2025 new start

Hi guys
It’s that time of year again to make decisions for the future so here I am.
2025 is going to be my next step towards retirement, as it’s less than 4 years to when I get my state pension. I’d love to give up now but can’t afford it so baby steps, I currently work 4 days a week.
So this years aims are,
Moving home as we live in a one bedroom flat we’ve no outside space and a garden would be lovely. Also we’ve got a gorgeous little granddaughter now and it would nice for her to be able to stay.
To clear the credit card
To build an emergency fund
To get healthier ( this is going to be a family aim as I had cancer in 2023 and OHs health is deteriorating and we need to get control) Neither of us plan to run a marathon but we both need to be thinner and fitter to fight off any more nasty shocks health wise.
When money allows I want to go down to 3 days a week.

So I aim to join the payment a day challenge.
To cut out unnecessary spends and try to use up what I’ve got, and buy from CSs as much as possible.

So please feel free to read along and pop by to say hello if you’d like.
Cuddlymarm.

    Merry Christmas frugallers 🎄🎄🎄
I hope everyone is having a lovely day
This year I’m making sure I avoid the online sales, normally by now I’d have at least one online delivery to collect in the next few days. But as I don’t need anything I’m not looking 😇 and keeping my money in the bank
DS2 has just cooked a fabulous Xmas lunch and now time for a nap

    Thanks guys
Today we’re off to squeeze another dinner in and spend a couple of days at DS1s. DGD is 2 and growing up so fast and every visit is a joy.
When we get back I’ll do a meal plan including all the leftovers as we’ve pate, cheese, etc. still left. DS1 is already planning a turkey curry with the leftover turkey for Friday.
Apart from fresh stuff I doubt we’ll need anything for at least a couple of weeks. I imagine there’s a lot of us thinking the same thing at the moment 😂 I didn’t take into account that we’d get biscuits, cake and chocolate from work so we’ve loads of sweet stuff left.
My next job is to look at the challenges and see which ones I’d like to join.

    Anyway I better get on
    Have a lovely day

  • Morning. Hope you are well. So what amount of debt are you aiming to pay off and what is your timescale? How do you to finance the house move? Have you  pensions in place,  apart from the state pension? Have you checked your state pension forecast? Sorry about all the questions but some context may enable others to offer more ideas and suggested ways forward. Best wishes.

    Hi Lord_Mattenly
I’ve £2200 on the credit card. Our son is buying a bungalow for us to live in ( no rent we just have to keep it in good condition) OH has a decent private pension and I’ve a tiny one.
The main aim this year is to clear the credit card and buy what we need for the new house.
My main aim overall is to get into better habits ( we are too easily tempted by holidays ) moneywise and health wise.

Leftover turkey, a curry sauce and rice for tea. I bet we’re not the only family having this.
Apart from this not much is going to happen today.
    Cuddles

Just popped in to say hello. I used to follow your diary before, good to see you back. I can officially get my pension at the end of January 2027 but will probably stay on at work until the summer, depending on how I feel at the time.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

    Hi guys
A good day moneywise, because I’ve been asleep most of it.
Last night I started with a headache and bit of a temperature. I feel really tired so I’m making the most of not having to work by just taking it easy.
I really need to stop pining for a cruise ( expensive and addictive) we’ve got a caravan booked in France in June which is lovely. We will get to go on glam holidays again but not this year.
I binned the rest of the Xmas day veg this morning as it was looking a bit sorry for itself. Normally I’d freeze it to use later but just didn’t get round to it.
I’m not starting any challenges until the new year, but the aim is just to make do with the contents of the kitchen as much as possible and hang onto every penny.
