I cannot remember if I thanked my Secret Santa so thankyou…my guesses were WAY off…but I plan to share my gift with colleagues and my community as there is just the place for them at wok.
Got a couple of bath towels half price at emmandess. Knitted lots today.

My Flylady cards finally arrived today! Thank you to all who took part in the card swap.I had to do a quick shop at the big MrT’s in town this morning, and I took Rosie out for a walk this afternoon, but it’s been too foggy and damp to want to stay out for long. I really hope it cheers up tomorrow.8

Had a reasonable journey home from Dorset yesterday, stopping off to meet DB for a cuppa en route. So today was the big unpack and starting to tidy as BIL arrives tomorrow. Cold (4deg) and foggy today so I decided against swimming as buddy is with family; we'll go on NY day.
- unpacked suitcase.
- 2 loads washing done
- 1 load through DW (don't ask me how it was full when we've been away)
- drove to next village to get a paper - our village shop no longer sells newspapers - and picked up a couple of things from C00p including being tempted by half price gf mince pies.......I won't say how many boxes I now have as it would be embarrassing. Slinky starts soon.
- put most of the presents away.
- sorted out the various flowers and arrangements I'd left in the house. Consolidated so there are now no buckets of waiting-to-warm - and-open flowers lying around.
- returned a call from friend in France.
- rang to leave 'thanks for present' message to stepbrother and SIL
- made some fairly unsuccessful looking cheese straws using almond flour. Way too fatty for some reason. I don't usually measure butter in tablespoons as per the recipe so I probably overdid it.
- went to Mr L, got a few half price things but not as good as I'd hoped.
- put all chocolates in a basket. Waaay too many. Slinky starts soon.
- checked train times as we're going to London on Monday.
Mr N says he will clean spare room and bathroom for his brother tomorrow. A bit more tidying to do but not too much. Was going to make gf veggie sausage rolls for lunch, but after the pathetic cheese straws I'm not so sure; perhaps I'll just do soup as I can make that! Planned veggie stroganoff for dinner as that's easy, and the ginger/orange pudding on the front of Mr T's magazine for dessert which looks straightforward.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -
Morning all xx
The sun is shining. The fog is gone. But tis still very cold out there.
I'm up, dressed, made my bed, completed Strands with three hints, completed Wordle in five, completed Connections with no lives lost, fed the birds, put out the recycling, done a laundry shuffle, put away the airer and I'm sitting down to sup brew 2.
I think tis Sunday.

Morning all,
Still fog bound here, but there are signs of brightness.
Wm x 1 has been run but aside from that I am feeling lost and discombobulated. I “lost” most of yesterday to my library book and newspaper crosswords. I definitely need routine, and this is stressing me more than ever, as I won’t have a work routine to get back into next week. Eek. I need a plan. Ahhhh, starting a new notebook might help 😉. Coffee whilst I decide what to write in said notebook…8 -
Morning all, It's a rather windy day here, but it's currently dry. We got a skip delivered on Friday so it's time to start a major declutter/decorate. I had a chilled-out day yesterday as wasn't feeling too well, feeling slightly better today so need to get stuff done.
My list for today
Remove the rubbish lying in the garden and put into the skip
Tidy up with the kitchen
Sort through the diary for January and make sure everything is scheduled next year is going to be a busy one so I need to start the year as I need to continue, being super-organised (for a change)
Make a start on decluttering the spare room (going to make it into an office/study, instead of using an area of the living room) DH has made a start whilst I worked on my diary, so the task is in progress.
Take the dog for a long walk
Have some pamper time/me time
Sort out the floor wardrobe in the bedroom
Sort out ironing mountain and make it a neater pile until it gets ironed, and put away anything that shouldn't be there.
Encourage DD to sort through her room and piles of clothes, putting clothes aside that she doesn't want as going to take these to a clothing bank whilst putting rubbish in the bin. She needs to make space for all of her new stuff. Work in Progress, DD started but then had a teenage moment so after a tantrum is watching some tv but some progress has been made.
Look at transport when going to a concert next month (I got tickets as a present so need to work out transport/accommodation)
I think that is everything that I need to get done today. Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday.8 -
Morning. Tis me having another relaxing day although I have done dailies, walked Poppet and s&sd toilet and bathroom.
Going to do puzzles next. Didn't get wordle, decided not to even try finishing strands as there were words I'd never ever seen before and I couldn't be bothered to educate myself! Probably better off with soduko (sp?)Spend less now, work less later.8 -
Morning all
I really liked the Marie Kondo book HB especially the idea that you don't néed a physical object to have happy memories about a person or event in your life. I have just finished a book by Cait Flanders about her year of not shopping which really resonated with me. I am terrible for buying stuff to try to make myself into a "better version" of who I am.
Feeling a bit anxious this morning, I guess that's because real life is starting to become visible on the horizon ahead. I am determined to enjoy the remaining 3.5 days of my holiday.
Laundry is almost up to date, the sun is shining into the lounge making it looking dusty but I am ignoring that. Going to parents for lunch.
Sunday everyone. I feel like I need to write that on a post it note and stick it to the fridge, it's very disconcerting.9 -

Feeling a bit anxious this morning ....Sorry you're feeling anxious YL and I hope you can enjoy the rest of your time off. The good news is when you do go back you're not going straight into a full week.I'm glad the MK book worked for you and I've dipped in and out a lot over the past few days and I can see where she's going to work for me. What I can't do is all my clothes or books or anything as big as those in one hit, I know she says that's essential, but I'm on total system overwhelm with stuff and what I've found is that if I break the categories / areas down into manageable chunks I can zip through them without even a tinge of regret or negativity, so, the first category of clothes will be socks / underwear.I'll follow her philosophy but I do have to tweak it for me or the endless cycle will be on rinse and repeat forever. I am exactly the same as you - I buy stuff to make a better version of myself and it hasn't work so I want to break the cycle. What I have realised (through 6 Hat Thinking) is that once I've decluttered a space / category I never build up the same stash or hoard again, so I have hope this is a final push. I've got the house sorted, and have become expert in storage and so on but I found this quote this morning, and it rang true for me. 'If you feel overwhelmed in your home, it's because you've reached your threshold limit and exceeded it.' I reckon I exceeded my limit quite some time ago. Peak stuff and all that.I turned out a drawer this morning. It's had the same function for 30 years and a mounting collection of tourist information that absolutely no-one every used and is probably all out of date. The bus and ferry timetables have all gone into the recycling, the Buckfast Abbey glossy can go to a neighbour or the CS and the local city maps, which I do use have gone back in with the booking chart. That's it. I want all the drawers in the house to be that empty.Turkey stripped, boxes of pre-made sweet and sour turkey crammed into the freezer along with two boxes of leftover Delia's red cabbage, which is fab with sausages and mash which means that's an easy meal to pull together any time, along with the sweet and sour. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I like a lot of homemade freezer meals and soup in there, along with the makings of pizza. Anything else goes in and is quite likely to never come out despite my best intentions at the time of buying it.Better is good enough.8
