Upstairs primped, dusted and vacc’d. Bathroom cleaned. Soup made and eaten for lunch. WULTD. Had a lie down in a dark room to get over reading that Round went commando to the supermarket…
DD went to small town to collect her prescription and abandoned the trip after being stuck in a queue for 20 minutes. Chaos and idiocy ruled, it would appear.8 -
Up early to give the recycling men their Christmas Box on behalf of the Residents' Association, a new to us tradition I intend will be an annual one. Last week I had to chase the bin men down the road because I overslept. Anyway, both lots done so I can stop worrying about that. My mother used to organise it when I was a child and I've been feeling very guilty that I'd stopped doing it here years ago. The reaction I had when I handed the card over was actually very touching.Dead rat in the garden spotted by squeamish neighbour so I donned two pairs of throwaway plastic gloves and disposed of it. We have a bit of a rat problem, we think we know why and are dealing with it but I never notice them dancing about the place. I think the cats do though - I thought they were watching the birds!Turkey collected, long dog walk up a bridle path for Wren and myself, found a tiny Woodland Trust and community orchard, all very Totnes. Now need to play Tetris with the fridge and freezer to cram everything in.Better is good enough.9

Well that was a day! Paid stuff this morning then into town for a couple of things. It was absolute madness. Came home to make nut roast and also a chicken pie for tea. Asked DS what pudding he would like tonight and he said spotted !!!!!!, so that's in the slow cooker for a bit later.
A few presents to wrap and family to visit tomorrow, oh and my office has become an unofficial dumping ground so needs tidying, but feet up now and maybe a glass of wine or two.
Love to anyone feeling overwhelmed, sad or just struggling a bit. Just get through it the best way that you can xx9 -
Town was mad here too, today, though by some miracle i scored a 2 hour free parking spot, so i banked takings from work and went to a few shops, for regular shopping really.
Ticked off almost all my to do list but still have some to do.
Oh and bedding line dried. result. i think it did get rained on…Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Completely bonkers day today, got up early and promptly fell asleep on the sofa downstairs with the pup..oops!!
Got showered and dressed and then left to pick up my final Tesco's order. Thought I had done it for delivery but turns out I had to do click and collect for some reason..
Spent nearly an hour doing a 15 min drive from my house to Tesco's in Aber. It was horrendous. It was that bad that D had to hop.out half way and walk otherwise we would've lost our slot. Once I got in there the click and collect was empty except for D..and there was even a space next to it to park in. Popped into Tesco's for some painkillers to tidee over the festive period, but the shop was half empty..!!
Back home, emptied the shopping into freezer and fridge, checked the veg and fruit box delivered yesterday evening, that we had popped into the downstairs toilet (it's now the Christmas food storage place). Final pop into town tomorrow to go to M&S for some nice goodies ordered 😉 Then back to god's knows what...lol
Wrapping, finish the ornaments on the bannister, quick wipe down of the kitchen units, hoover everywhere, change cat tray and change bedding to Christmas bedding ☺️ I think that's it...lol
I'll be knackered Christmas Day..lol. Thank god's we are out for tea then. Just dinner at home then straight to my sister's for the evening 😃

Just popping in to say hello. It'a been a bit hectic and difficult recently so I haven't been on. To cut a long story short, I fell down some stairs at home and hurt my back. I've no idea how it happened: one minute I was walking down the stairs, the next I was tumbling down them. I didn't fall far but I did something to my back, which is still far from right. Both legs/knees have been painful too. Then, 2 days after my accident, A lent heavily on the flap of the dining table, which has a central leg, not one at each corner, and it tipped up sending everything tumbling onto the floor, including A.Apart from cutting his hand he seemed ok but the next day he was complaining of a pain in his arm so we went to the Urgent Care Cantre where they diagnosed a fractured wrist. They put on a temporary cast and he goes to a fracture clinic and a local hospital tomorrow to have a longer-term one.He is now even less able to do things than before and I'm have to help him dress, cut up his food etc. This extra responsibility added to the additional pressures of getting ready for Christmas have made things very difficult. I had made our Christmas cake before this happened fortunately but not marzipanned it or iced it. I have done both now though, the latter only this afternoon - cutting it fine. I haven't wrapped any presents and the place is very untidy but there are only so many hours in a day.To put some flying in this post I did a load of washing and drying today. If I don't get on befre, I hope that everyone has a very Happy Christmas.9

Oh @Cloth_of_Gold that sounds really difficult for you, I have been wondering how you and A are. Never mind about Christmas just take care of yourself and accept any help offered. Sending love to you both.
I am still in bed, feeling a little anxious. Like most of us I have been overdoing it a bit and need to take a step back and remember it doesn't all have to be perfect. Following my anxiety wobble earlier this year I was advised to "check in" with myself once a week and write down my worries and feelings to try to see the reality of situations rather than just my anxious thoughts. It does help but of course I get busy and don't do it.
I will run the hoover around and deal with the kitchen floor which is filthy. We have a few presents to deliver and I still have a few to wrap.
Hugs to anyone who needs it, hope it's a stress free day xx9 -
ooh Cog hope revert is swift
Wishing all Flyladies and gents a very Happy Christmas, hopefully stress-free

Morning All!Wordle in two, Strands with no hints, two lines on Connections and even with hints I can't get the other two. @Cloth_of_Gold. I'm so sorry to hear about your tumble and A's fall and fractured wrist. It must be exhausting trying to do it all and then those spanners in the works. (((Hugs)))Today, Christmas Eve, was my mother's favourite day of the year, when there was everything to look forward to and no feelings of disappointment or regrets. I have a feeling that my mother had pretty much everything under control after years of living a peripatetic life with three kids and a politely demanding husband.I, on the other hand, have never had a handle on anything, a list as long as a lifetime of things I haven't done, need to do, want to do, can't do because there isn't time, and never enough sleep or rest. So, as of this morning, I've decided that whatever doesn't get done doesn't matter. If it's important to other people - they can do it.I do, however, need to sort out the top two shelves of the freezer, see what's missing or can be rebalanced in the sweet and sour sauce because it's very strong, make pigs in blankets, another batch of red cabbage, pimp some crackers, cranberry relish. chocolate pots, and stuffing. And I repeat - whatever doesn't get done can be done by someone else. That is my gift to myself this Christmas.Better is good enough.7

Morning all.
So sorry to hear of the situation you and A are in, Cloth_of_Gold. Please don't fret about having everything perfect this year. Some more of us have found that we just can't manage it, and are struggling to do the minimum. I know that the religious aspect is important to you, so I hope you get to church at some point today or tomorrow, but sleep is vital for healing so don't push yourself too far for heavenly gain or you'll be of no earthly use at all! Just enjoy the day with A. Tell everyone to close their eyes and imagine a beautifully wrapped gift as you put a box of chocs or whatever into their hands - I might be doing that too!!!
Very annoyingly, I was awake at 4.30 this morning (though I went back to sleep from 7 - 9, so am playing catch-up already). Whilst drinking a cuppa in the early hours, I checked my finances and remembered to transfer a small gift of money to my eldest goddaughter's account. I do at least have some leeway regarding wrapping, in that my children and grandchildren are not expecting their presents until our family day on the 30th, but I must find the paper and tape for our gifts to K, W and M, who are coming here for supper after the carol services this evening. I need DH's help to put up a few more lights to brighten dark corners, and the shelves need dusting before I can put all our cards out. Speaking of which, my Flylady cards appear to have gone astray in the post, but I live in hope that they will arrive sometime within the 12 Days, and I shall leave the kitchen windowsill free of clutter for them. A big Thank You to Natty for coordinating the swap - and please don't try to take the blame for the chaos of the postal service!
My list for today:
- S&S kitchen, shower and dress
- wrap a few gifts (see above)
- email my eldest goddaughter
- send email greetings to Germany and Canada
- dust as necessary
- ring the GP surgery re blood test results
- put up lights
- walk Rosie and pick a bit more holly from the lane
- do a couple of little indoor floral decorations
- prep supper
- carol services at 4.30 and 6.00
- feed K, W and M and give them their presents
- get to bed early to make up for lost sleep (no time for zzz on the sofa today).
The rest can wait until nearer 30th!!! Tomorrow we are going to DS1's house for the main meal.
Lots of love to all of you, my Flyfriends, and I hope you have the best possible Christmas, whatever you're planning xxx
