Eleanor , just a word from another Mum who had Postnatal Psychosis .THIS alone would make you feel anxious and depressed , never mind the debt problem. To have P.P. is an awful thing .I had it after my second child and I will never forget the feeling of helplessness , not coping , being a poor Mum , not measuring up ... You can't describe to anyone how alone you feel .The good thing is ,P.P. goes away .I had counselling and was given an anti depressant for anxiety and depression .I am glad you are being helped by the Mental Health team .You will come through this .
Believe it or not , you are helping me now .I came to this forum as I am also very badly in debt .All the questions you've asked have been so helpful , the people on here seem very well informed and give good advice .
Keep writing on here and you really are amazing ,even if you can't see it yourself !4 -
Hi, I hope you don't mind me dropping in. I owed about 10,000 on CC's and then my health changed and I could not work.
Ignore the letters and called etc, just wait for the debt collection agencies to contact you.
When one collection agency contacted me i set up a payment for 20 pound a month which they didn't take and i never heard from them again.
I stopped paying the other unsecured debts.
MBNA actually just stopped sending me letters and didn't even bother passing it on to a debt collection agency because they knew it was uncollectable.
Argos also just stopped contacting me.
We are all human and sometimes things just don't go to plan.
It really annoys me when I see people come on here really upset and in poor health because CC companies are using scare tactics and the cc companies know the customers don't know they can just stop paying anything that isn't linked to their mortgage.
Current debt approximately 5000
Goal- Zero debt by mid 2025
Savings in 2026- an emergency fund of 50002
