I finally made my first offer of repayment, a measly £2pm to a debt of over £9000 to MBNA who have sold my debt to Credit Security LTD (or they’re managing it on their behalf, i can’t remember). I haven’t heard back yet. Of course i’m papping it! They’re probably going to laugh at that, but it is honestly all I can afford for the time being
So I’m just doom scrolling again & thinking of all the possible action that could be taken against me in the future if they decline this offer of payment. I’m gonna be offering a similar amount the the other debtors (some i owe close to 20k!!)
Just hating myself yet again for getting into this situation. I’ve been looking at my kids today & just thinking what the hell have I done to them
Moorcroft (who are managing Barclaycard for approx 15k) have given me 30’days breathing space to come up with an income / expenditure & offer them a repayment. I’ve heard terrible things about these guys
STILL waiting to hear anything further from Natwest (almost 20k CC debt). The last I heard they had given me 28 days to pay in full before they registered the default. Now silence, convinced myself they’re pursuing legal
Anyway, sorry it’s midnight & i’m sat rocking my 3 month old alone in the dark & just feeling very vulnerable
You offer what you can afford. Have a SO A ready to share with them which shows that you have no excess. Nobody checks the amounts on this (how could they?) So be creative and make it look as bad as possible.
In my experience MBNA are good to deal with and Moorcroft no worse than most. Just play the game. Wait for defaults before speaking to them.1 -

Does that help to reassure you that you get to call the shots here? Sure, creditors might try and push you to pay more down the line, but if you simply go back and day “no, all I can afford is £x per month”.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

i just want to say this thread has been incredibly helpful for me. I’m in a similar position to you, i cancelled my direct debits about 6 weeks ago so just waiting for more correspondence from the lenders. All I’ve had so far is a couple of missed payment letters and phone calls which I’ve blocked. I’m nervous as the amount I can afford to pay is minimal but this post has given me some confidence. I think we all feel like we’re the only ones in these crappy positions but actually there’s lots of people, especially with the cost of living. I’m finding general food shopping nauseating how much it’s costing at the moment- as well as the increase in council tax and other utilities.
well done on what you’ve done. I’m not far behind you. X6 -

"Moorcroft (who are managing Barclaycard for approx 15k)"
They are "managing the debt" they do not own it, they can do absolutely nothing in respect of this account.
All they can do is ask you to pay it, period.
Barclaycard still retain ownership of this account, Moorcroft are simply a 3rd party interloper charged with collection of the debt, nothing more, no need to have any thoughts on them whatsoever, they are of no importance.
The only terrible thing here is that you are up worrying about a non entity like Moorcroft at silly o clock in the morning!!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. A very quick comment from me
Don't feel rushed
Moorcroft took over management of one of my debts last August. I had a few messages requests and ( unanswered ) calls from them in September but nothing at all since

I dont know what terrible things you have heard about Moorcroft, but they dealt with one of my debts that I wanted to default on and they were no different to any of the oyjet collectors I dealt with really. The only outstanding thing I remember about them is that they have a logo that looks like a prison to try and scare people.2

@EssexHebridean it really does! I think i’ve just found it really hard to believe that the process really is as simple as everyone has advised on here! Thank you so much
@Costalot123 bless you. Good for you for starting to take control of your own situation now. I’m glad this thread has helped, even though I’ve been a loon haha. I can honestly say I’m definitely coming out of the other side now (still anxious moments). The process really hasn’t been scary at all once it started, it was the mental imaginary build up & consequences that I dreamed up that were scary! All of my debtors have now defaulted & passed onto a DCA. Who are not pursuing legal action & are just asking for whats affordable. Hopefully that gives you some peace of mind also
@sourcrates thank you so much, i agree! I do feel much more positive now & hopefully it stays that way. Natwest have sent their letter today passing the debt to westcot who will be in touch for affordable payments. Another weight lifted off my ahoukders. PHEW
@lillypoo thank you! Have you offered them any type of repayment?@Rob534@Rob5342 thanks rob. I’m just waiting to hear back from them so we’ll see what they’re like!
All debts have now defaulted & been passed onto DCA. So i can start chipping away at them. Since starting to miss payments in August, it has been a hell of a journey. But finally I feel i can start to put this behind me & move forward
thanks everyone x6 -
Companies like Moorcroft are full.of bluster really. I had a letter from ARC saying I had 14 days to respond or they would "proceed with further recovery action". The "further recovery action" was another letter offering a discount, and then they just gave up and handed the account back to Nationwide.2

Hi
no I've not communicated with them at all.
