Today is our work Christmas lunch, and the Christmas jumper I ordered off Vinted hasn't arrived in time.
I was a bit poorly over the weekend so really not thought through a plan B. This morning I've put on a black blouse and grey skirt with red tights and long black boots. I did put this with a long red cardigan I had but it was a bit frumpy, so at the last minute swoped for a thick red tartan shirt my daughter bought me worn as a cardigan over, the effect was much more fun and modern. I've paired all this with some very glam silver and zircon earrings given to me by brother years ago, he'd bought them for his wife but she is a very svelte swede who prefers all things understated and she felt they were too big to wear. I usually cycle into work so never wear skirts or dresses, so showing up in this outfit (i got a lift in) is my take on festive
I'm working on decluttering my life a bit, so if I want to keep something I have had to have worn it in the last 12 months - this is pushing me to find occasions to wear things I don't usually, especially the jewellery.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!5 -
Sounds great @shandyclover, hope you have a lovely time
My advent jewellery today is some grey tones glass and bead elastic bracelets which haven't been worn since the 90s!

@shandyclover - what a great last minute fix for an outfit. Can earrings ever be too overstated? !
isn't it fab how we are all enjoying re-visiting things we have ignored for years and so lovely that many things have such great sentimental value.
today I had to be ready to elegantly transition from daywear to night out wear - just like wot they tell you how to do in glitzy magazines 😉
I've chosen a gold (coloured not real) chunky beaded necklace with gold stud earrings by day and gold dangly earrings for tonight's concert,
I shall swop my cosy jumper for a black and gold blouse, comfy shoes for boots, add a liberal dose of lipstick and perfume and emerge as the type of woman who parties! (Not that type of woman or that type of party PIP 🤗)

So today - keeping with the bird theme - I wore a vintage Astra brooch with a hand painted Pheasant and one of those little gold chains with a safety pin. When Mum died in 2015 she left me all her jewellery but Dad insisted on keeping this for reasons I will never know as he passed in 2018. Obviously it came to me then and it’s been in a drawer ever since holding its mystique.Tilly Tidying andPADing in 2024 £250.62

My nod to the advent challenge today was a diamond bracelet Mr SA bought me years ago that I hardly wear as it was very expensive and I worry about losing it plus a pair of Christmas star shaped sparkly earrings. Also wore a jumper with a big sequinned star on it. So a very sparkly Monday at the office for me 🙂I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

Flowerpot, delighted to hear you are enjoying your precious grandfather's bangle! Sallyforth, I wonder if he wanted to keep her things close to him even though he couldn't wear them. Grief makes us do strange things - I still talk out loud to my Mum fairly often after over two years.
I am wearing 1980's style gold knot earrings today. I wore a hippy cheap multicoloured pair yesterday and unfortunately I caught one on my scarf and it broke. I am still glad I dug them out one last time and will look at it in good light after Christmas in case I can do anything to fix. I ought to dig out my orphan earrings box - the single ones I can't bear to dispose of in case their partner turns up!2
