A Very MSE Advent

Today I've chosen a moody, sophisticated 😉 trio of necklace, bracelet and dangly earrings. It's a mix of amethysts, aquamarine, garnets and topaz. It's probably my favourite jewellery but is usually for going out/best. Well in our MSE advent every day is officially best. I've also chosen a deep burgundy scarf (fabric not knitted). It's got lacy edges and tasseled edges and if I were on Stars in their Eyes, tonight I would be Stevie Nicks twirling and spinning while miming to Rooms on Fire.
@PennysIntoPounds as you are in charge 😄 when shall we all co-ordinate our "5 gold rings" day?4 -
😁 @Blackcats Well by my calculations (probably wrong) the fifth day of the twelve day advent ending on Christmas eve is Tues 17th but I'm flexible... I shall however need to make it 'five gold, silver, costume jewellery, and plastic out of a previous years Christmas cracker' rings!
That sounds like a splendid advent outfit btw4 -
Maybe some of the five could be ear rings?

Ooh good thinking @redofromstart
And we could have a gold ring of the light around lighting a candle or turning a nice side lamp on...2 -
For today’s visit to the office I wore a sparkly Christmas jumper with sequins saying Merry Chic-Mas along with red bauble earrings and a pair of Santa socks (not visible as they were under jeans tucked into boots). To tone this down a little I wore a gold bracelet Mr SA bought me many years ago that cost him a fair bit and I was cross with him for spending so much on a bracelet.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

@EssexHebridean tx for the reminder, i only have to specify pieces over £1k each - so 3 pieces of jewellry... but should investigate and take a proper set of photos.
The copper discs sound cool..
@Sun_Addict this outfit sounds epic!
@blackcats - i have a family pair of amethyst drop earrings I need to get a new clasp on, so i can wear mine. Your jewellery sounds lovely
JEWELS OF THE DAY
I went with a pair of giant sparkly triple hoop diamante earrings and a Swarowski large ring where the crystal had broke in half and its actually cooler for it. I bought the same ring again and the stone fell out the second one.. so obviously badly made, I bought the ring with some inheritace money from when my aunt died..
Neither had been worn in at least 5 years. Did have a Xmas thing to go to.DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I've been reading along. I shared elsewhere I used this as a chance to review, declutter and donate and clean! All my jewellery is sparkly silver now except 3 items I really love but are Indian Silver so have not really cleaned. one is a pocket watch clip that I wear as a bracelet. It belonged to a grandmother. I'm not sure how to get it back to silver. Ideas welcomes.
Today I am wearing a pair of earrings that are tiny horses heads. They were black but a quick dip in the cleaner reveals them to be a lovely silver. I haven't worn these for maybe 5 years! They are studs so safe to wear inside and out whilst dealing with horses and mucking out.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -
Oh yes Watty - I'd forgotten the absolute no-no that is anything hoopy or dangly around horses, efinitely a plan to stick with studs!
My offering today is again from that pack of christmassy earrings, and is a pair of pretty gold (coloured!) and red candy canes!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Love this idea
I have a bad habit of wearing the same black clothing items to work. Since I've been reading this thread I've been trying to make more of an effort to be festive and use my 'good' clothes.
Today it's a navy phase 8 batwing wool jumper that I picked up years ago in a charity shop. It's very smart but tends to not get used much. Plus a blue and silver cloth scarf, and a pair of silver and sultanite (stone changes colour depending on light) earrings my daughter bought me when she went to Turkey this year.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!4 -
Welcome @shandyclover, glad you're feeling inspired and festive ✨️ That outfit sounds gorgeous
My advent jewellery today is a piece a friend gave me about five years ago that I've only worn once- one of those where you see it, smile, think 'I must wear that soon' and put it back in the box and never do! It's a magnificent gold metal ornate panelled necklace and looks great against my cosy light grey woolly jumper2
