A Very MSE Advent

OK! I have put some tiny gold earrings in, not a pair, but near enough. The first time since we were all wearing face masks.

@Flowerpot that's a lovely brooch with nice memories.
ladywithaplan - I'm still imagining your Lady Di'esque ring.
today I have carefully selected my jewellery to create an understated and elegant look (I can but try 😀). So whilst PIP has chosen ginormous hoops I've gone for teeny tiny gold knot earrings. I've worked out that I last wore these about 28 years ago 🥹. They were a gift from ex hubby so hope he doesn't demand 1 of them as part of a 50/50 settlement 🥴3 -
That's beautiful @~FlowerPot~, how pleasing it's finally getting another outing 💫
Ooh I like the sound of little red bows @EssexHebridean, very festive
Hurrah @Nelliegrace, sounds fab!
Most elegant @Blackcats, and discreet enough that if you see ex hubby in the street you'll have time to hide before he notices them 😁
My ginormous hoops have turned out to look surprisingly classy, especially teamed with a silk scarf a friend gave me which I've never worn.
That's one of the joys of mse advent, that things you already own can still take you by surprise
Had a quick rummage and decided to add a few seldom worn belts and scarves to the advent choices pile while we're all being a bit laissez-faire for Christmas- or should that be laissez-fairies 🧚♀️9 -
Went for lunch with friends today wearing a Christmas jumper with sequinned wine glasses on plus a pair of Christmas tree shaped earrings. Oh and I had a pair of Christmas socks on under my trousers. Over the top moi 🤣I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

My goodness @Sun_Addict you are the most festive of the festive!1
-
Well if we ever open an mse bar @Sun_Addict I nominate you to stand in the entrance corner for a month so we can save on a tree 😁
Sounds fabulous, glad you're getting good use out of your festive items- I'm not generally a novelty socks person but I do have a couple of pairs of Christmas themed ones so thank you for reminding me to dig them out. Might need to wear both at once in these temperatures, bet @MSE_James is glad he had an advent rummage through his winter jumpers!4 -

I am planning tomorrow to wear a quite sophisticated diamond and sapphire ring my great uncle bought me decades ago (its not that big btw! Dont start thinking Princess Di!).. he was my only real grandparent after 9 yrs of age..
This jewelry /jumper advent is a lovely way to remembering where lovely gifts came from.
Today I only wore my watch as I didnt go out.. (and some clothes)Blackcats said:@Flowerpot that's a lovely brooch with nice memories.

I rarely go elegant with jewellery however I did wear my Di -ring along with some drop 18ct gold and onyx earrings - also from my DGP. (again google suggests I have been sleeping on them value wise). However both (with a bracelet) was a 21st present to me so I would not sell them..
@sun_addict you sound fabulous..DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Gorgeous pieces there @LadyWithAPlan, how kind of your DGP
My advent jewellery today is a bracelet, an unusual design with gentle coloured beads in different shapes that catch the light and look all glimmery, perfect for winter light. I don't often wear bracelets as I'm typing most of the day and assume they'll get on my nerves, but its not annoying me at all so a good reminder that I have more jewellery options throughout the year.
I'm also wearing a big soft scarf with glittery bits, it's not thick enough to be my outdoor scarf so rarely gets worn but it's so cold in my flat that it's a welcome addition to my indoors outfit!3 -
Pip that sounds nice. I'm glad it's not being annoying as you type!
My jewelry advent is a sweet silver necklace with a wren pendant. One of my fav birds. It's very small and delicate. It was a pressie from with colleagues. It's a nice memory x♥️ ♥️ ♥️🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸Decluttering 2025 So far 403 / 2025

@LadyWithAPlan on a proper MSE note just make sure those lovely sound pieces of jewellery are adequately insured, won't you! It's fabulous to have and wear stuff that reminds you of particular people and occasions in your life isn't it - so hurrah to you for getting the use from them! @FlowerPot on a similar theme your little Wren sounds gorgeous!
My choice today is a copper necklace with a pendant made of three different sized of discs twisted into slightly different but complementary shapes. It's been in a box with a load of other stuff since we moved last year, so it's rather nice to have it back in wear again!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
