Hi All - So I have an update. As advised I responded informing them I was seeking debt advice and they responded a few weeks later with the following:

We write in response to your correspondence received in our office on 1st July 2025.

As per your request, please find attached all notices issued by our Client for every Parking Charge issued, which includes all relevant details including the dates of each contravention and times your vehicle entered and exited the site.

The sum added is a contribution to the actual costs incurred by our Client as a result of your non-payment. Our Client’s employees have spent time and material attempting to recover the debt. This is not our Client’s usual business and the resources could have been better spent in other areas of the business. Had you of paid as per the Contract, there would have been no need for recovery action so the amount due would not have increased.

Please note, the HMRC ‘VAT Supply and Consideration manual’ (VATSC06140), which was last updated on 02 September 2020, confirmed that Parking Charges fall out of the scope of VAT.

WITHOUT PREJUDICE SAVE AS TO COSTS

We confirm our Client would be agreeable to settle this Claim.

I can confirm our Client would be agreeable to the original sum of £100.00 per Parking Charge totalling to £1,700.00 in full and final settlement of this Claim. The current outstanding balance is £2,890.00.

Should you be agreeable to this offer, payment is to be made within 30 days from the date of this email.

Upon receipt of the settlement sum of £1,700.00, we will update the matter as settled. If you are not agreeable, further legal proceedings may be issued against you without notice.

Payment can be made via bank transfer to our designated client account: -

    • Account Name: DCB Legal Ltd Client Account
    • Sort Code: 20-24-09
    • Account Number: 60964441

You must quote the correct case reference (121960.7717D) when making payment. If you do not, we may be unable to correctly allocate the payment. If further action is taken by us as a result of an incorrect reference being quoted, you will be liable for any further fees or costs incurred.

Alternatively, you can contact DCB Legal Ltd on 0203 838 7038 to make payment over the telephone or online at https://dcblegal.co.uk/response/pay-online/

    Kind Regards,

I'm obviously not going to make any payment or contact them by phone but any advice would be greatly appreciated please? The email was received on the 21st July.

Here's one link from an hour ago, to explain why you didn't need to post this (we don't ever need to see their template replies):

See you in a couple of weeks to do the Public Consultation (please) while your case is quiet.

You can find that thread without a link.  :)

Please bookmark it (the one about the Consultation) & come back as we need another week or so to think about our 'recommended' responses to the Consultation a bit more (what we won't do is provide a template, for obvious reasons).
