NST December 2024 – the TARDIS awaits

Still NSD #1, as I did the grocery shopping today, and then OH wanted me to order some mousetraps for his workshop. I can't imagine what they find to eat in there.A very nice item of furniture left the house this morning. It wasn't a permanent 'resident' but a piece OH had restored for a customer. Apparently it had to come into the house for the finish to cure or whatever, as the workshop is too cold. Anyway, nice as it was, I was glad to see the back of it, as we have quite enough furniture!Posted back a faulty phone today. Hope I get a refund without having to involve Am*zon. I didn't realise when I ordered it that it was from a third party seller and not Am*zon itself. The customer service has been poor to say the least. Also posted the international Christmas cards so as not to have to queue up at the post office again before Christmas, as the queues were out of the door all day. And I always manage to get behind a number of people who either have incredibly complicated transactions or just enjoy messing about
I feel quite sorry for the staff at this time of the year.
Minor panic when I was doing the banking stuff earlier. I couldn't find OH's ISA passbook. He has to have a passbook as he doesn't 'do' internet banking. Most accounts are joint, so I can do it, but ISAs of course have to be individual accounts. Anyway, it had fallen out of the banking file and slipped down the back of the cupboard shelf. I found it on top of some books in the shelf below. That was a relief!6 -
NSD #3. Today has been another quiet one-work, housework, watching a bit of TV. Tomorrow will be busier as DB1 returns from his few days away with cousins and I’ll need to prepare for going into the office on Thursday, so I’m enjoying the peace while I have it.Thankful for peace and quiet, completely clearing the laundry basket and planning a holiday in 2027 with friends.7

Thankful for catching up on sleep, the continuing mild weather and a sensibly stocked fridge.
NSD 2 today: yesterday I ordered a Secret Santa gift for work from a small business.‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

I am grateful for my bank sorting out the 2 fraudulent payments on my credit card
- I discovered them 15 minutes after I posted yesterday - although obviously it has a domino effect on everything else while a fresh card and pin number are sent. Given the card has been in my living room for the past fortnight, I use 2 factor authentication, I don't use a banking app and, of course, don't give out bank details over the phone, it's really frustrating that I've still been nobbled.
So today is a no spend day...‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Christmas has started to arrive here. We have 2 'Christmas' trees in the garden. One is very tall but very skinny and spindly and the other has about 5 long bushy branches all on the same side. Neither are really suitable any more for inside! So I nipped to liddle and bought a new potted tree. It is soooo cute, being only about 18" high! However, it wont hold many decs, so we may have to bring in the tall one and have it by the back door so we can decorate it...And then we needed a place to put the treeling, so had to do a concerted sesh of tidying up and filling the boot with the items for the ch shop - for me to drop off tomorrow. (I think I'll make my 31 items in one go!!!)Progress makes me happy.Today I am grateful for the gym, for my new tree, for making a tasty mushroom soup (with a bit of chicken that wouldn't fit in the freezer too), for Pip being much improved after an extra 5 hours of sleep and staying in bed until 4pm, for getting some paperwork done - and finding out it wasn't as tricky as I'd expected.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!6

NSD #2 for me today. Had a quiet day at home. Did lots of boring admin, such as scouring the small print of the car insurance documentation. Found a small discrepancy, rang the company..... and you guessed it, another £23 to payAlso did banking and business paperworkWalked the dogHad a shower and washed my hair, and noticed that the water wasn't draining well from the shower tray, so attacked the drain with unblocker stuff afterwards. Seems ok now.Had a text from the GP surgery, a follow up after my blood tests earlier this week. Apparently I am deficient in Vitamin D, so have been prescribed 7 weeks worth of high dose vit D, and advised to get regular OTC supplements after that. I was quite surprised by that, as I already take a multivitamin thing when I remember
Not sure if it explains the strange pains in my legs or my hair falling out, but I will give it a go!
Made jacket potatoes for dinner and put in a batch of scones while the oven was on. Also made a loaf in the bread maker using ingredients I already had, to avoid going out and buying bread.7 -
Hi lovelies. I had nsd #2 yesterday and #3 today. Week days are just so busy work wise. I had to pop to b00ts yesterday to collect an order before they sent it back but said no to paying for parking and parked a little further away, for free and walked to the shop to collect. Also said no to buying anything else. I’m expecting another nsd tomorrow but not Friday.Sold one thing so need to package that up and send it. 1/31 gone.Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #829

NSD#3
Dropped a full carrier bag to the woman up the road, who collects for a CS, on my way to work.
Had my monthly massage last night (paid for from my sewing money, so doesn't count as a spend!). The movement in my right shoulder is quite restricted, so the lady suggested cupping on that side. I feel like a new woman!!! So much more movement on that side now. Pleased the bruises from the cups are in my back & I can't see them 🤣
4 out of 5 days of yoga completed too, & still carrying on with my Norwegian practice.
Work has been quite stressful today, due to staff shortages. A parent told me at the end of the day, that her cherub had been awake at 4am singing the alphabet song & counting backwards from 10 & saying blast off. Ive taught them both of those. It made me smile.
A stressful evening too, tackling a tricky sewing job. It's taken me all night tonight, plus an hour last night, but can't charge for all that time, as it's partly due to my cataracts.
DS3 called me at work (but my phone was on silent), to say he'd had an accident with a chisel at college & needed stitches in his thumb. It's not stopped him visiting 2 different friends tonight though! 🤣
Asked DS1 about paying rent after Christmas, he's kicked up a stink previously when it's been mentioned, but now that DS3 has agreed (though he's planning on moving out asap, to be with his GF, both only 16), he's agreed to it too. I said they both earn more than me & I'm paying for 5 people!
Grateful for my 'new Flexi shoulder', work bestie giving me chocolate, the boys agreeing to pay rent, & DS3 being ok after his accidentUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Tuesday was mostly taking out rubbish and recycling - 3 bags of rubbish, 3 trips to the paper bin (a box from the front room, a box from upstairs and various smaller boxes broken up and flattened), multiple trips to the can and bottle bin and a bit of green waste - it won't stop raining for long enough to be useful. Washing was done and the line was filled (although I brought 2 dresses in to dry in the evening).
When I took the cs donations I bought some wooden pegs from them. They only had 2 packs left and I nearly bought them both. I didn't but later bought a pack of 'storm pegs' from the 'corner shop'. The wooden ones did all the washing I had but I will need more when I use the rags for the kitchen floor. That will be later when everything is a bit more under control - the first lot where I get up the mud/ bucket emptying and rubbish are going straight to the bin. Cut more rags up.
The state of the house is getting to me. My skin is extremely dry despite slathering oddments of cream and lotion on bits of me. I need to do more of it, more frequently (some days I want to hide under the covers until I'm fully clothed and layered). Still not found my red notebook with all the family addresses (checked my diary but I've only got people's phone numbers in there) so no cards sent and no flowers either (one for my cousin who's overwhelmed and worried about her son and her ex hovering and one for a friend who's husband died this time last year).
I have several phone call/ admin things I want to get done this week - if I wait until next week I'm worried about things getting overlooked. I want to run away (I have found this very therapeutic in the past - I got on a bus and went to look round the Christmas market) but even getting on the bus is a chore atm. I need a big win. Maybe I should ring Waste Wizards to come and collect some of the big items and general clutter - they will gather up stuff I point to (have decided most of the wood and the frame from the oldest polytunnel can go as well as any broken plastic pots).
Lots to be grateful for. I'm very tired but the coughing, sneezing and sore throat have eased a lot (no painkillers for 3 days, just using lavender sleep balm to alleviate a killer headache). I have clean hair (need to book an appointment on a less busy day), I have plans (subject to my body obeying simple commands).9
